Is Ace Duck one of the most hated TMNT characters by people who work in the industry?

Minor spoilers for the newest Nick episode:

...

For those who don't know, there was a reference to Ace Duck in the newest episode by Baxter. Shredder thought the idea of Ace Duck was stupid and tore up the photo into shreds.

In the original cartoon the writers thought Ace Duck was such a terrible character that all he got was a 5 second cameo on a TV show Michaelangelo was watching instead of being a real actual character.

And in the Archie series Ace Duck was a flamboyant wrestler played for laughs from Dimension X.

Do you think there is an intense dislike for Ace Duck from everyone in the TMNT franchise?

I love Ace Duck, after the turtles and Shredder he is the figure I wanted. He was always the turtles favorite ally when I played with them. I love his designs, now his design doesn't really work for other incarnations of the turtles but fits perfectly in the OT. He isn't a terrible character either, he could be made into something cool.

The OT didn't use him because when the toy came out they were in that "no mutants" phase where we rarely got any mutants, so the fact that he got a cameo says a lot about his popularity at the time I think. When the show finally got around to doing mutants every other week, his toy was no longer sold so he lost his chance. Archie just did weird things with characters, I doubt they thought about ridiculing him, in fact they tried to use him somehow in their weird space storyline and it was the best they thought for him at the time. The Nick show making fun of him is well, Ace Duck is a product of its time it sounds silly on paper but he could be redesigned to fit the universe if they really tried, then again the Nick show has far more ridiculous things that them making fun of Ace Duck is like pot calling the kettle black.

Maybe it reminds someone too much of Howard the Duck...for some reason.

Look at this Mother F-cker right here. THAT is ACE effing Duck..

Not afraid to wield a gun, and a handful of granades. He is after all a mercenary, all while looking like a true pro with his leather jacket to let people know he is an ace pilot. Those wings aren't just for show either, he can fly as well as he could a plane.

Now, let's take a look at his origin, after Krang has basically made ducks extinct in Dimension X, he decides to beam one from earth since his hunger is not satisfied until he gets exactly what he wants. Ace Conrad, badass test pilot was about to be given the promotion he deserved based on his amazing skills, and on his last run he is never heard of again. That's because he fused with the duck and became ACE DUCK. He ends up in the turtles lair. He now decides to use his new body and badass skills to become a mercenary. He won't take jobs that hurt innocent people though and will usually end up teaming up with the turtles, as long as he's paid.

He was considered too violent by network standards of its time so the OT crew had to reduce his role in the show, in this version instead of being a gun for hire, he decides to act and becomes a famous tv/movie star. Despite being a mutant and all the prejudices. Like at everything, he becomes a top actor in record time.

What about Archie? A joke you say? Look at that badass over there, all beefed up and ready to fight. In here he is an intergalactic wrestler who has won all the top titles of the GALAXY and defended them against creatures all over the turtles multiverse, you have to remember Cudley the cowlick brings the top contenders from the multiverse, not even the Battle Nexus can compare, that sh-t is like the little leagues compared to it. In just one panel he quickly manhandles Leatherhead as if he were nothing. This ain't no WWE/UFC sh-t, he would make Lesnar tap out in seconds.

Since Playmates or any toy company could not handle making a new Ace Duck figure that would be accurate at all, You'll find only customs which you'll find plenty of can attempt to replicate a glimpse of him in plastic form.

Ace Duck's legacy continues to live on through fans hearts, with constant fanfics and art, since not even the gritty Mirage universe would be able to handle him.

Nick's Shredder was a fool not to attempt at getting his version of Ace Duck, then again what more can we expect from him, he can have fun with spyderbytes or whatever Jar Jar Binks knock off he chooses instead.

Ace Duck f'ing rules, and I will fight anyone who disagrees. In fact, I have him ranked #4 on my Top 10 Ducks list, after Daffy, Howard and the duck I rescued last week.

Ace Duck was my first TMNT figure ever. I received him way back in 90 when I was 6 or so, so he has a very special place in my heart. I remember loving all the kick butt weaponry he came with. I love Ace. He would have made a great merc in the OT. Guess we're not seeing him in any big roles on the Nick show, but it was still a great cameo. Go get'em, you bada$$ quackin powerhouse! He'd be a real trip throwing grenades, firing bullets everywhere, and doing that insane quackie quack cackle all at once.

ace duck always confused me as a kid cause i never saw him in the cartoon (or remembered seeing his cameo). but i had his toy so i've always known who he was. i dunno always seemed to me to be just a filler character/toy. i don't hate him but i surly have no love for him either. he could be Ace Aardvark for all care haha.

No need to over blow things. One little side gag doesn't make him one of the most hated characters.

Outside of toys and cameos, Ace Duck hasn't had much characterization. The most he had other than his bio card from the toy was being the narcissistic wrestler in the Archie Ninja Turtles comics.

I have sympathy for Ace Duck, always had. The character as a pilot and the corresponding outfit made him interesting to me at that time. Besides, Ace Duck is an appealing toy figure with all his accessoires !!

Intense dislike ? Too bad.

Ace Duck is the best obscure TMNT character. I always wondered who would voice him. I'd rather have him than new Pizza Face.

Ace Duck is quite peculiar considering how early his action figure came and how little he has factored into the TMNT franchise since then.

Also, I just cant' help myself from referencing Weird Al:

I loved Ace when I was a kid, he was the only character I had as a toy that wasn't a main character, I only had him, the 4 turtles, April, Splinter and Shredder. And he had egg grenades for Christ's sake

Damn, I have to go back to my parents and find the rest of my collection, wonder if I still have all the parts of my Shredder, last time I saw him he was sitting in one of my drawers ripped apart lol

The problem with Season 3 of the OT when Ace Duck was introduced was that the Technodrome wasn't in Dimension X. I disagree on him being too violent if Bebop/Rocksteady among many others use guns and the grenades aren't unlike the Rat King's smoke bombs. Shredder may have just been angry since Ace Duck would eventually side with the Turtles. But Ace Duck is just an under-the-radar figure that FW/Archie felt was too bland to make the story be interesting at a time before there was real filler. I still would have given Ace Duck an episode or two just to help the Turtles with the blimp, preferably an episode that takes place in Dimension X.

I would imagine Barry Gordon or Rob Paulsen.
