........if you say so. I guess.

You lost me completely when you suggest Man of Steel is a better in between. I felt Man of Steel was disaster porn with no heart or characterization.

Nostalgia Critic vs Angry Joe review of Man of Steel is freaking hilarious, though.

Nolan's movie, in my opinion, is far from "the best". They are good in cinematography, but has a lot of problems when it comes down to setting and characters.
And besides, there is no argument, that it was Nolan movies, which have inspired Hollywood to make everything into dark / grim / edgy / realistic **** from Snowhite to the recent MK series. Of course, it's not exactly his fault, but the result of it is pretty much...grim.

Dude, why do you think the word "Dark" is in every film following TDK? Including Thor.
Now, that's a weak argument.

Quote:
Marvel Studios has aped TDK series countless times. Iron Man's whole plot structure is verbatim a rip off of Batman Begins. CA WS apes plot beats from TDK, themes, and Joker's score for Winter Soldier.
And this sounds like a delusion.
Nolan wasn't the first to make a movie about personal journey of the character. Nor he was best at it, IMO, of course. Iron Man 1 was VERY different from BatBeg in pretty much every single aspect, including superrior atmosphere, perfomance and action.

If anything, I walked myself into this one. But it was quite a time since I had a good 'netfight. But why not to troll a troll?

Burton's Batman '89 helped inspire Barron's TMNT '90.

I'm sure Iron Man was plenty influenced by Batman, like, fifty years ago. Batman Begins wasn't even that big a deal, when it came out. The Dark Knight was released the same summer The Avengers series started. If anything, Marvel's spent all this time showing that you don't have to make movies like the Dark Knight trilogy.

And you're just trippin' about those themes.

While they were good, I don't think they are the bar for the genre. Nolan's movies were good movies, but they weren't what I'd call comic book movies. They went for grounded realism (at first...damn you, DKR) and I think that went too far. In Nolan's universe, you could never have half of Batman's villains exist.

I don't agree that every movie since has been copying them, though.

Even if TMNT turns out to be teh best movie of all time, GotG is gonna have it beat as far as this year goes. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is strong.

They grounded it enough to suck all the fun out of it. With a NYC version of Gotham, a Catwoman with no connection to cats, a Bane with no superhuman strength, a second-hand tank masquerading as a Batmobile, a guy named Robin, and a Batman with bad knees, there's no chance of becoming my favorite...

Indeed.
Though my main problem with his take on Batman mythos was, that it's just impossible to make 100% (OK, 90%) realistic movie about adult man, who dresses in armor and seriously calls himself "Batman". It's still comic book character, who simply can't act in real world, because in his core he never meant to be realistic. There is strong sense of dissonance between character and the world. Burton movies didn't have that, since his "reality" was more like a modern fairy tale, where existence of Batman and Catwoman wasn't clashing with surroundings.

I hope the next Batman movie isn't ashamed of being a super hero comic book movie.

I guess Raimi's first two Spider-Man films as well.
Am i correct in assuming that you think "Man of Steel" and "Amazing Spider-man 2" are a good example of dark/edgy in tone alone? Or that you enjoyed them a films better than any other comic book movie because of quality and theme, as well as tone? I'm not trying to judge you, i'm just trying to understand where you're coming from.

I will agree with you on Raimi's first 2 "Spidey" flicks. "Spider-man" is still my favorite superhero comic-book movie...complete with Raimi-isms!

I agree....i feel they sucked it dry like a succubus. I found the first movie in the trilogy entertaining but forgetable. There was a train....and Batman got a tank-car....and Scarecrow was in it. That is seriously all i remember. "The Dark Knight" was great only because the Joker was so freaking engaging. WHen he was on screen.....it was totally engaging. Ledger OWNED that film every second he was on camera...and it showed.

But, the 3rd film. BLECH! It was a mess. It was a chore to watch, for me.....i can't help but think it suffered a similar fate as "Spider-man 3" with the studio putting pressure on Nolan to make it.

I guess so. I once saw some nerd with a Captain America shirt go in to watch the Dark Knight Rises movie, I was expecting the Nolanites to beat the crap out of him, but everything turned out fine. So I guess if DC and Marvel can get along and co-exist in harmony, I see no reason why TMNT and Marvel can't as well.

I was also disappointed in TDKR. I found myself waiting for it to just end. But it kept dragging on and on. But TDK? One of my all time favorite superhero films. And it really was a Ledger show. It was one of the most engaging performances I have ever seen on screen. Ledger stole the entire movie imo. The only time I have ever witnessed an entire theatre stand up and applaud. I wonder if Affleck will be a good Batman. I love the new pic.
As for GOTG, I love films with the whole space element. Films that showcase other habitable planets and other life forms etc.. I pretty much like the entire cast. I thought Zoe was great in Star Trek 1 and 2. Love Bradley Cooper. I'm not too familiar with Chris Pratt but I'm sure hell do it right. I'm looking forward to seeing him in the new Jurassic Park film. The Interstellar trailer really got me hyped also. As for TMNT, I've said enough. I feel that Fichtner is the perfect pick to play a villain and will nail the Shredder. I'm not sure which film will take August.. But I could never bet against my all time favorite franchise. I have a feeling it's going to surprise a lot of people.

Wouldn't it be horrible, that we both end up wrong and it's Lucy that walks away as the winner?

Because it's a pissing contest. And I doubt the reviews will be no less horrible than Thor 2. Because of the names attached to TMNT, and the hate the critics have for Michael Bay, TMNT will probably get rated similar to Transformers, or the other TMNT movies, which were never highly reviewed to begin with.

The first Transformers movie actually got pretty solid reviews from the majority of critics. It's the sequels that squandered all of the good will earned by the quality of the original.

Reviews for the first movie.
