Saw X-Men Days of Future Past (awesome movie. Some nitpicks, but best X-Film I think) and got a Guardians of the Galaxy Trailer, as expected.
Let's Be Cops looked actually pretty funny too. No TMNT trailer I've seen Winter Soldier, ASM2, Godzilla, Days of Future Past and thus far not one TMNT trailer in theaters for me. :/

I got to see the extended trailer in 3D in an AMC theatre during the ASM2 midnight showing ... it looked great!

Welp... I guess GOTG just classified it's 3rd trailer with a run time of 2 minutes 24 seconds. This was on the 23 so I think well get it this week most likely. I don't know why you'd want to release one trailer one week.. and then release another full trailer the very next. Seems like a waste to me.

That does seem pretty quick. Perhaps they'll be waiting on the release of that one a bit longer. Mid-June would only be 3 weeks.

Wow...what's this? A Trailer which shows a lot of Cool Action, Fight Scenes, some hints of the dialogue between the Title Characters who are the Stars of Their Movie, and it's a film with CGI characters that comes out in August. Go Figure! |

I never thought about that. It just seemed soon. Maybe the second trailer wasn't received as well? I didn't care for the second trailer as much as the first. I actually thought the Lucy trailer looked better. I am excited as hell for the next TMNT trailer coming in a few weeks. |

For all those who have said they like that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles trailers don't show much so they don't want to spoil the movie but the trailer did give a lot more plot parts away than GOTG trailers which have shown a lot more of the action and characters. Unlikely as it is the TMNT movie could surprise me and be really good and there's a part of me that would still say that GOTG would deserve to better as they've done a better job selling by miles. |

Yeah, the marketing for this movie is incredibly strange, I really have no idea what they're doing. More things will probably become apparent when they release the second trailer. Until the next trailer, there's not really much we can say. I hope when it does come out they show some ninja action scenes, I'm interested in seeing how well they work with huge turtles, and if Don keeps all his $#!% on during the fights. And scenes of April talking so we can judge her acting, as well as Leo's new voice.

Until Marvel Studios announced that they were adapting the comic into a movie, I had never heard of Guardians of the Galaxy, and I say that as a cinema/geek enthusiast, so for casual film fans, it’s going to be even more Worse
it’s fair to say that a large portion of viewers had heard of The Hulk, Thor, Captain America and Iron Man, even if only in passing, but the same cannot be said for these characters. If The Avengers were all home-run comic book properties, Guardians is more of a cult project, having nowhere near the same level of commercial success as the above, and as a result, featuring characters that the majority of Comic fans couldn’t even begin to name. There is little brand recognition to the casual audience, and given that they account for most of Marvel Studios’ revenue, it is an important demographic without which the film will surely flop. A movie about an unknown group of superheroes that includes a talking raccoon and a tree that's sort of a person won't be a box office hit no matter how many Marvel fanboys watch its trailer online. As films like "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World," "Kick-Ass," and "Watchmen" have proven, being big as a comic book or graphic novel does not guarantee a box office hit. It's not 'Iron Man' In any argument about whether a lesser-known comic book character will break through and become a successful movie franchise you must address Iron Man. That character was not as well-known as Spiderman or Wolverine outside the comic book world and the movie became a sequel-spawning hit.Iron Man was less known to non-comic book fans, but he's not the complete unknown the various Guardians are. Plus a rich guy in a robot suit is a lot more accessible than a talking tree voiced by Vin Diesel (whose talking skills are not great in the first place) Under the Disney banner, Marvel has not had a movie not become a major hit. All of the films in the Iron Man/Avengers universe -- which "Guardians" is based in -- have been massive successes. Much like sister-studio Pixar, the Marvel brand name carries some clout and a certain part of the audience will see anything that carries the Marvel imprint. "Guardians" however does not have the built-in audience of kids that Pixar has. Yes Pixar has a reputation for producing quality films, but that's not the only reasons its movies are a hit. Put the Pixar brand on a film and you are basically telling parents it's OK for them to take their kids and kill two hours watching a movie that they probably won't hate. "Guardians," with its PG-13 rating, won't be the same no-brainer for parents. It also won't be a film that kids demand to be taken to because unlike "Spiderman" or "Iron Man," the Guardians don't have a cartoon and kids don't know who they are unlike TMNT Whose Cartoon is very popular on nick Turtles are winning here. ![]() TMNT is just as much of a high selling and iconic franchise as Transformers was in 2007. I AM NOT SAYING THIS SERIES WILL BE THE NEXT TRANSFORMERS. But the Turtles are absolute icons of pop culture for several generations, including mine. Everyone had TMNT sheets, toys, and other merchandise. More so than even Power Rangers or Transformers, when I was young (and especially among my older brother's generation.) Nostalgia for that era is also super, duper high, as most of those folks start to hit the late 20s. Plus, this isn't an animated film like 2007. That's like saying Star Wars Episode VII will fail because the Clone Wars animated movie wasn't a hit. It just doesn't work like that. This is a big-budget live action movie with a solid trailer. If it's fun, I say it does 150. One of my bold predicts of the summer. Now, that alone will be enough to top GOTG,I say TMNT is a will be a much bigger hit than most expect.* I Could see guardians making Some good bucks but beating TMNT. No. especially since guardians is unknown all it has going for it is. 1 the marvel logo, 2 rocket and groot which will attract kids, 3 marvel logo, Go green machines!!

holy page and a half posts batman...i understand you are excited but there is an edit button to posts you can add more thoughts too
that said really its anyone's game to say one will beat the other is all speculation now...a lot of us though turtles fans feel GOTG will win August because the have the marvel name attached and are part of the huge picture that is the marvel cinematic universe also the same was said about Thor and Iron Man back when their respective Movies came out

also not sure how you can dismiss a talking raccoon as unbelievable or not accessible but be for Giant walking talking ninja Turtles at least Rocket Raccoon keeps his size you also have to remember at that time RDJ was not who he is today..he was a huge risk

My rationale is, even with TMNT being the more well-known brand, the *film* franchise has been long-damaged and the Marvel Studios "brand" has built up a lot more trust with audiences over the years. Strictly as a film franchise, TMNT has never set the world on fire. Even the better films only did more or less OK, money-wise, despite TMNT being, objectively, a pretty big deal overall. On the other side, only like, 20 people ever knew or gave a crap about Guardians of the Galaxy until a couple of months ago, but there's a ton of trust in the product Marvel Studios puts out and a lot of people will go see anything they release. Parents, kids, and people of all ages have thoroughly enjoyed almost all of the Marvel films that have come out the last few years.
And that's not to say Marvel movies are perfect - 'cuz god knows, they ain't by a long shot - but "Consumer Trust" and "Brand Loyalty" are two things the Marvel brand has on their side that Platinum Dunes and TMNT simply do not have. Objectively, Platinum Dunes and Co. have never made a good movie. They've made a couple I kind of like, and a few that made OK money, but from a purely impartial and objective standpoint, their movies are bad and most everyone knows that by now. I understand the logic of, "TMNT has billions of fans, of course they'll all go buy a ticket to see the movie," except for the inconvenient truth that, it would be a first if that did indeed happen, as it has never happened before. The movies haven't "tanked", but they're niche. This one could change that, or it might not. it will depend entirely on word-of-mouth, not how many TMNT fans exist. It's not about that at all. It's about how the parents feel about the movie, in the end, because they'll be the ones choosing to pay or not pay to drag their kids to see it several times. August is a dumpster month for summer films. It's gotten too expensive, everyone's half-broke by then, and parents are getting set to spend hundreds of dollars apiece on their kids back-to-school stuff. Mid-August is when a lot of parents are getting their kids used to early bedtimes and trimming down a little of their "fun and recreation". They're not going to cave in and take their kids to see every single movie that comes out, no matter how much they beg. And that goes double if the buzz is bad once it comes out, which it may very well be. In the end, I think it all adds up to Guardians pulling off an upset at the box office. That's my honest opinion. I have no dog in this race, as I don't plan on seeing either in theaters at this point. I can't even pretend to care about GotG in general, as I'm not a Marvel guy and only really have interest in films based on characters I'm familiar with - most of which I've enjoyed, I'll admit - and I'm most likely going to be dirt broke by then anyway, and I've skipped a ton of movies already that I really, really wanted to see this year because I simply couldn't afford it. And TMNT just doesn't look very good to me, and if I do go to the movies, I can only afford to waste my time and money on stuff I know I'm going to like. I know that's boring, but it is what it is. |

The first film made around $135 million, and at the time was the Highest Grossing Independent Film out there. That's very good. Even the second film made almost $80 million...and these are back in the days when theater prices were just around $4 to $5. I'm just saying that, in my opinion, at least the first two live action films did better than just 'OK'. Which (not on topic, but I had to mention this) is why I never understood why New Line didn't seem to care much about this property (at least DVD/Home Release/etc.) Even when you look at this: http://www.boxofficemojo.com/studio/...io=newline.htm You realize that the first 2 Ninja Turtles movies are in the Top 25 Highest Grossing Films for that Studio. And, weirdly enough, they are the 2 Earliest-Released New Line Cinema films on that Top 25. Back on topic, to me it's simple. Guardians of the Galaxy has the better marketing, has better trailers (the second trailer showed multitudes of fights & action, the sense of humor that it is going for, shows the title characters as the leads and you know that for a fact, and so on...In Other Words, Stuff To Get People Excited to See Your Movie), and Marvel's name can go Very Far. |
