Hahaha, I totally understand what you mean. I guess I mean a hardcore fan who actually knows what their doing: how to make an entertaining movie and include a great story, all the while bringing in the masses. Among other things.

If you may permit a sports analogy; it's fine to root for the home team but you can be honest about their performance, where their strengths are were their shortcomings are.

Also it's fine to be exasperated if your team is not doing things right as people tend to feel they've let the fans down. That's really what's happening with TMNT.

You can say "hey well at least you've got the old stuff" but I was hoping to continue to enjoy the franchise especially in a big budget movie were the whole world can see what we like about it fully realized.

GOTG is doing that. TMNT is not.
For one.. I don't understand how you can say that for sure.. and it seems like you're speaking for the entire fan base.. forgive me if I am wrong. But that last statement is purely based on perspective. it is your opinion. I respect your opinion but I disagree. I know that there are millions of fans all over the world "rooting" for team TMNT and can hardly contain their excitement for the movie.

Another thing.. I've seen a few posters mention that they wish TMNT was being made by "TMNT fans".. I don't get it.. This is such a baseless judgmental statement. And I am not going to waste anymore time posting a bunch of videos and articles just to have them flatly dismissed anyway. Can some of you prove that the director and all of the producers for GOTG are "huge fans" of the franchise? Why do you have to be a complete " nerd fanboy" like most of us to make a new movie? How can you make that observation? Like I said people will say anything to invalidate this film. Was Steve Barron any more of a TMNT fanatic than Liebesman or Nemic or Mednick or Galen? Hell.. Henson didn't even want to do the damn movie but was talked into it. So.. If you don't "like" Bay or Liebesman or Eastman or anybody else involved that's fine... But enough with this claim that you know who's a fan and who isn't.. and that the success of the film depends on it.

I know that there are fans out there that would love there shot " myself included". Hell read the posts in the " Create your own TMNT film" thread. Awesome AWESOME visions from everyone that posted in that thread. That was the most enjoyable thread I have ever participated in. I did a " Yoshi/Saki" story.. I understand that most people would love a more traditional take.. But understand that it is beyond difficult to please everyone with a franchise that has had so many different iterations. People were furious even when the Fred Wolf show debuted.. So imo this was destined to receive back lash from some fans.

I wouldn't be too sure. It only took Marvel & Universal five years to release a new take on the Hulk after the 2003 movie was declared a disappointment. The known comic & "nostalgia" franchises are a major focus in Hollywood, and if this one under-performs or is considered a failure in the court of public opinion, they could reboot sooner than you might think. It would likely be 5+ years off, but I'm perfectly happy to wait that long for something done right.

100% with you there. If not a hardcore fan per se, then at least someone who understands and cares about the characters and their world, and can bring some real heart and energy to the movie. I remain pretty unconvinced about Liebesman and Bay in that regard. But uh, I guess I've made that well known.

To play devil's advocate, this is apparently no longer true. Seems Google put the kebash on artificially increasing views.

stories wise alone maybe, i cant tell you any gotg stories..but you are looking at it in the small scale to the marvel universe

we already know GOTG will have ties to Avengers phase 3, thats preping for a movie that probably hasnt even left the brain of its writer. so its not so much a small story but just one chapter in the realm of a giant story being told

can TMNT stand their ground? maybe only time will tell
No way does TMNT have more stories to tell, for starters, they don't have another cousin property to join in to increase awareness. I can totally see Rocket or Starlord having appearances and cameos with the really big hitters like Ironman or Captain America. I'm counting on Gamora and Natasha having a bit of a duel somewhere down the road.

It's got a really hot looking guy in it that is also funny, and really kick ass female assassin, and then it has a talking raccoon that shoots machine guns, and then it has the hot guy who loves 70's/80's music, and grew up in that decade. It's going to bring back so many memories from the songs alone. It's also set in space, and gives me that Star Wars vibe to it (and who don't love

Right now GotG looks like the better investment entertainment-wise compared to TMNT.
Yep, I'm one of them general audiences. I never heard of Guardians of the Galaxy until I heard about people saying that movie was going to crush TMNT at the BO. Back then, there were no trailers for either of them, and I was at first, rooting for TMNT. I was not caring for Guardians of the Galaxy at all. Then, I heard about a gun toting raccoon. It got my interest. Then, the trailer came out, and I already had my ticket on reserve. TMNT trailer came out, and I was like WTF?

So, here I am, a TMNT fan, a non comic book reader, a movie goer/general audience, and I'm more excited for GOTG.

i just find it sad as a long time TMNT fan and TMNT cosplayer i am in no slightest way excited for this movie, as much as i want to like this version of TMNT nothing appeals to me
I know next to nothing about GOTG, and right now, I'm trying to keep it that way. I can go into the theater with a fresh mind.

Now, what I do know, is that the main guy (Chris Pratt, geeze, Marvel sure has been hiring a lot of hot Chris's, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans) is either going to be a boy on Earth during the 80's who was abducted or his mother who was from the 80's was abducted while pregnant with him. The walkman playing the retro music is supposed to be the only thing he has left to remind him of Earth.

Then there is Gamora, who is sisters with another character in the movie. I can't remember the whole thing, but I heard the main baddie for Avenger's 3 killed their family or something and raised the sisters, but then Gamora left while her sister stayed to become a villain.

Then, we're going to have Lee Pace playing someone (he was one of the beacons in The Hobbit 2 IMO) and then there is the whole stones of power thing.

These are just a few of the characters in this movie and one story.

Which one? The PD TMNT toys are supposed to be on-shelf 6th July according to news back during the Toy Fair. Not sure about the GotG figures, probably around the same time more or less.

Yup GotG Marvel Legends (and lots of other GotG toys and roleplay stuff) hits stores the first week of June! Places like amazon have them listed as shipping June 1st.

I recommend going on amazon and searching for "guardians of the galaxy" and then filter it to only show toys... there's some cool items in there! Including plastic models of the ships

Also... GotG LEGO sets will also be for sale June 1st!

Minor thing, but originally Incredible Hulk was created as a sequel to the Hulk 2003. Later, they changed it, but there are still couple of things, that tie movies together.
