I didn't even know 2007 movie even existed until a few months ago.

The only people I know who knew of it, were TMNT fans like me, and some people who had kids who liked to watch the 2k3 toon. I mean, it did dominate it's opening weekend, then, just faded away the weekends after that.

A mix of reasons the lowering of popularity with the end of 2k3 show, Marketing, ages and other miscellaneous factors

Like i was in high school when TMNT came out and while tmnt kind of a a kick up in popularity from the 2k3 show people in my age group who were fans of the series and fans of the show who were kids its just a different age group

With this movie most of the 80's fans are now adults who grew up watching the 80's - the new nick show Mixed with fans who grew up with the 2k3 show, added with the curent fans of the nick series, as well as still being in the Incline of its popularity and explosion which happens to be a much larger Phenomenon then say 2k3 show,

I'd love to be pleasantly surprised, but we're now at, what, 4 trailers for TMNT and we've seen next to no action scenes that give a feel for what the movie will be like for choreography and we have 1 joke....in....every....trailer.

Guardians just looks more entertaining and I'm one of the people who reads comics and didn't really know the Guardians, didn't have interest in them, and grew up with turtles.

But I still think Guardians looks like a better movie from what we've been shown so far. I honestly don't understand how people can think Guardians looks boring while TMNT trailers look awesome.

I saw a video on msn the other day about all these 80s properties coming into movies. They talked about TMNT dead last, after Goosebumps and Power Rangers (really? ....really? They aren't even remotely near filming), but even when they talked about TMNT, they weren't positive and were leery about "the creepy new look" there too :/

But again, I'd love to be surprised by TMNT.

As for box office, I think it all comes down to overseas. Guardians has the Marvel name, but I don't know if sci-fi space does real well in the overseas market. TMNT has Bay's oversea track record, but no giant robots or cars here (which go over HUGE overseas). Could really go either way for the box office.

Or it could be another Guardians #1 weekend, TMNT #1 weekend, Expendables 3 #1 weekend scenario too.

Red face

.but these "space" clothes they have them wearing are simply off-putting. Star-Lord is in an overcoat? I think, even in the depths of space, the protagonist wearing a Keanu-esque three-quarters length trench...is a bit cliche...What is Gamora wearing?! some weird speckled-leotard-cleavage-baring mess...Now, I'm not one to hate on CBM designs usually, but what were they going for? Sexy? Repulsive? Zumba instructor? Plumber? Drax....oh Drax. but that's not the bit that gets me. What's up with the overly elaborate boot-knife sheathes? I mean they are in outer space right? Guess he found a great cosmic-leather cobbler with a flair for medieval accessorizing. I hope the directors know that Drax kills with MANY things other than his knives...there is the fact that he is super-humanly strong and he did rip Thanos' heart out with his bare hand. I won't beat-up on Groot.

He is Groot.

Will be interesting to see if they change to their more comic-like costumes by end of the film, but personally I dig the Firefly vibe in the visuals. I'm not-so-secretly hoping that Nathan Fillion's role is a brief tongue-in-cheek cameo in the Malcolm Reynolds costume.

Drax could be more green imo, but maybe they didn't want two green alien people on screen.

As for Gamora....dude, they could have been more ridiculous, y'know... XD

That's is whats upsetting me about the tmnt trailers, they keep showing the same footage over and over again. So I can understand why some people are just not interested in this movie.

Ultimately it's going to come down to seeing how each does the first week or so.

Some people are all over these trailers, however.. hate to say it but trailers sometimes are not always the best source to actually judge a movie by. They're made to excite people and get them to the theater, it's not unusual that a movie puts it's best stuff in the trailer.

With any luck, hopefully it was only some of the best and there is more where that came from. At worst... it's misleading or a movie uses it's best stuff and then there is no better surprise in the theater. At really worst, if even someone's trailer sucks... yeah.

Unfortunately, you're not gonna be able to reason with Sam. He's a good dude, but his feet are firmly planted on his arguments.
Yeah, I know. That's why I try to ignore him.

Gamora is sort of shout out to female-warriors from fantasy stories, like Conan. Hence her style. It does make sense, if you know where it came from actually.

Honestly I can't see this movie making more money than GOTG overall in the office box. Because from what I've seen, a majority of fans hate this movie. Everyone's being too negative, ALOT of people just aren't interested in the seeing it, the marketing is terrible, many people hate the designs, tons of people are not willing to give it a chance or they are planning to sneak into the theater to avoid financially supporting it..and there is just too much bad press.

Don't underestimate the Anime community. Dragon Ball Z has a bigger fan base than both TMNT and GOTG combined!

and this is the first DBZ film based off the anime to be shown in theaters within the US so you can bet everyone who can go see it more than once will go see it

Lol...the thing is.....there is no such thing as bad press.....negative moments in the spotlight are still moments in the spotlight...and bad reviews dont amont to sh^t either. Ive brought this up once before but ill put it here as well because it fits....the best example of this is the most dissapointing film in all of creation, The Devil Inside. Man its the only movie in my history that when the credits started rolling people were booing, cursing wanting their money back, throwing popcorn and cups at the screen, all for good reason, but I thought there was going to be a damn riot in there, lol....anyway followed it up on reviews and such a weak later and just strait out horrible reviews and bad ratings.... but for some damn reason it kept pulling in numbers and beating out its compition. Anyway my point is, people will see something regardless of bad press or bad reviews if they want to watch something that they are into or that they like regardless of its bad reviews and for some it would be out of curiosity. And with that being said lets not forget the place tmnt comes from and the place it holds in alot of peoples hearts from nostolgia if anything. I really think alot of people are seriously under estimating this movie and what it will do.

Yeah you're right, I was just really pissed off at the moment. I was just tired of the people I talk to constantly bashing the movie, I over exaggerated.

Also was the Devil inside that bad?

Depends on what you were trying to get out of it iguess....but the previews made it look like itwas going to be the scariest thing since the exorsist and littery the only scary part I the movie I seen anyone jump or scream during the movie was when a dog unexpectedly barked. Sounds silly I know but that should tell you something about that god awefull movie....lol

Sadly, it's not only up to fans. The general audience could have a different view.

The movie that's coming to SELECT THEATERS is a movie that's over a year old. All of those hardcore fans that you're speaking about have probably already seen the movie about a million times.

Plus, it's a select theaters release. Which means it'll be in one or maybe two theaters tops per state if it's even that many. No way in hell it makes a dent in any other movie's box office. Let's be real here. You guys cannot be serious.

That's right. I really hope it's in theaters around where I live, I've never seen it.
