This. Especially when the ones I hear it from are all stay-at-home mums who've never had to work a day in their lives.

You know how you have a little anxiety to give incentive to do something, even if it's knowing you need to fold clothes? Well this takes that away and replaces it almost entirely with a sort of 'Everything's OK, it's all OK, you are safe, there is nothing to feel anxious about' feeling that makes it hard to do anything. And it lasts until it dissipates, which takes almost a half hour. I don't like using the stuff for this reason, which stinks because it's supposed to help the cat when she feels anxious. Plus it costs $20, which wasn't cheap. 'Species specific' my butt.
... I'm now kind of convinced that you're part cat.

Poor Powder... just try to block it out. Look, I'm fairly Tumblr (for lack of a better term), and sometimes even I get exhausted with the neverending analyses of everything. Sometimes you want to just switch your brain off and enjoy something without having to worry about the sociopolitical implications, y'know?

Oh yeah, and when they tend to be the group that the government most easily hands out freebies for, I tend to think that they really are just trolling for that poor soul who will give them the coos and 'You poor thing!" they feel they deserve. Especially as they love to brag about how they are doing the Hardest Job in the World and Raising the Next Generation Who will be Wiping Your Old Butt. Even as half these kids will not be even be functional adults because their helicoptering mothers will coddle them and convince them that there's a pedophile lurking around every corner. They'll be too terrified to even step out the door. And should the poor tyke even go anywhere, his mother will be there to fight every battle for him, tell everyone that he's a special little angel, and go mama bear on anyone who even tries to verbally reprimand the child if he's acting like a little turd.

Well, I've always had this vague desire to hunt since I was little (not with guns mind you, but just a desire to stalk them, following behind them and being real quiet, and ensuring they don't see or hear me) have hyper-flexibility even without stretching, and sometimes can hear sounds that others can't. That's the other weird stuff. I am not a furry or thing I am somehow spiritually an animal, I have no idea where it comes from. It is possible to get genes from other organisms through viruses, and if that did happen to me theoretically, then it might have been a big enough chunk to at least give me that ability to be affected by cat pheromones and have a little affect on behavior. I've heard of a guy who had eyeshine like a coyote, and his eyes weren't known to be diseased or anything. It's not usual though, so it must happen very rarely.

Tch, the next generation will be too busy playing with their smartphones, snapchatting and sexting and listening to whatever cruddy music is in at the time to bother wiping my wrinkled old heiney. Peasants!

Oh, today's gear grind is that no matter how careful I am when I re-ink my stamps at work, I still end up getting ink all over myself. I have no idea how I do it. Then I have to walk around for the rest of the day with red ink on my hands, like some sort of office-worker version of Lady Macbeth.

Hey NK and Powder - I think this pretty well sums up Tumblr sometimes:

The washing machine blarring when I'm trying to make a Pizza while listening to music.

Is it too much trouble to listen to some Led Zeppelin while I make a Pizza?

I don't have a Tumblr, but I've thought of having one. Maybe I will just so I can join in on the discussions that are really out there. Then again, that sort of thing has trickled over here as well.

As long as you unfollow anybody that is clearly making posts just to gain SJ brownie points, it's really not a bad place. It's much better-suited for shipping discussion [and porn, don't forget porn]

Well, I wouldn't be there for the porn, so that's out for me. But I know some of my favorite fan fiction authors are on there as well. I might do it one day, but right now, I just don't see the need.

Honestly, a fair chunk of my Tumblr usage is dedicated to just looking at pictures - pictures of pretty things, pretty people, fashion, flowers, comics, fanart, architecture. It's actually how I got into Tumblr in the first place - I don't actually talk to anyone on Tumblr, I just browse and read. I have a "happy folder" on my computer where I just save pictures that cheer me up and make me feel happy to look at them.

I used to do a fair bit of reading on feminist and general queer Tumblrs, but I kind of dropped out of it because it's just too depressing... and I'm kind of at the stage where I'd rather just totally block out reality and live in my own little bubble world. These days, I mainly just use Tumblr for frivolous reasons rather than sociopolitical ones.

But it is a great resource as far as shipping, fanart and finding fanfics go. I say just use it for what you want and ignore the rest.

I don't know what's wrong with me but it seems like I just literally can't get sad or cry when I need to? Instead I just feel either disappointed or empty. Then I end up getting mad at myself for not feeling anything and I guess that really just grinds my gears.
Like for example, I remember the first time I noticed it was when I was younger and we had to put my dogs down. I loved those dogs so much like, they were always at my side and we'd just run around and play all day then curl up and sleep together on the couch or my bed. I came home from school to find my mum and sis were both sobbing and I knew what it was about (since we had discussed it before) but? I just kinda shook my head and went about my business feeling a strange mix of anger and disappointment then nothing. No tears, no rage, nothing. It's the same way when people close to me die or something tragic happens to me. I just sort of... silently accept it and move on too fast.
What the hell is that? Like seriously I just don't understand why I can't feel emotions the way other people can in situations I should. Thinking about it just makes me feel confused and angry.

There really isn't a "wrong" way to feel. I have often felt blank in situations where everyone else is crying and such. I'm also the type that makes jokes in those types of circumstances and then get glares from others... Bottom line, whatever feelings you have are correct for you, any feeling is valid, if people can't understand that not everyone reacts the same way then they apparently don't "get it". It also sucks when people tell you that something doesn't bother you because you aren't outwardly reacting how they think you should, they are too narrow minded to understand that everyone reacts differently to different circumstances- and thank goodness! I get squeamish and feel sick when dealing with blood, and if everyone was that way, no one could be a surgeon or even draw blood, lol.

He means you speak English quite well.

Also, my gear grind... is this b*stard piece of machinery at work which masquerades as a printer. I believe it was manufactured in Satan's colon, and the torments it puts me through would give the Marquis de Sade and Gilles de Rais sweaty palms.

Seriously, every freaking time I have to change an ink cartridge, to get the printer working again I practically have to strip naked, smear my body with woad and bear fat, walk backwards counterclockwise in a circle reciting archaic phrases in ancient Latin while waving a stick of incense and then ritually sacrifice a virgin under the shadow of a new moon.

I really hate that printer.

Current oneThe other is ...

That I tend to at times unintentionally weird folks out, even though I'm not trying to. Most of stuff is me just saying stuff that I later kick myself for because reading it later it sounds weird, like the cat thing I was mentioning with Pennydreadful.

Sometimes I wish I could just think a moment before I do anything, it's almost like I am channeling Mikey. I also wonder if I come off as being a bit too forthright on the forums, I'm used to being on Star Wars forums where everything is discussed down to the last minutia and people are often a little strong when they try to make an argument over a certain viewpoint. With these, I often wonder if I annoy people.

My other one for today is having to travel 17 miles by bike to go to a class I want to take. It will take me about 3 hours one way. I don't totally mind it, but I'd rather take a bus if I could. I haven't signed up for it yet, since I want to know the price per month it will be first (likely $100.) However, I'd rather spend that much per month on a fun class, then eat that much in junk food. I tend to eat a lot when I'm bored.

The fact that I have a lack of motivation for anything.

I'm not lazy, or have ADHD, but I find it very hard to get motivated to do anything.

It's like now I'm trying to learn guitar, I've been doing that for months, and I don't feel very motivated at all. This means that my practise sessions comprise of an hour of doing very little actual guitar playing.

It just really, REALLY gets on my nerves. I hate it.

Oh dude, seriously, I think you're pretty groovy - you've certainly never weirded me out (mind you, I'm pretty weird myself! ).

Seriously, I get what you mean though - I used to be really self-conscious about how I came across to other people - mostly because I didn't really like myself. When my social anxiety was at its worst, I used to just refuse to go out or talk to anyone cuz if I did, afterwards I'd lie awake in bed mentally replaying everything I said and then cursing myself for not having said the perfect thing, not being funny enough, worrying over whether people liked me, what they thought of me, thinking I wasn't cool enough etc etc.

Thank jeebus I managed to unlock my self-esteem achievement and put that shiz behind me - it was seriously exhausting!

Honestly though, I think you come across fine, if that means anything. You're being way too harsh on yourself - we're always our own worst critics.

Just live by the code of Patsy:

Aww thank you, that means a lot

I have noticed that I tend to be hard on my self, I think it's because I tend to be a worrier and imagine a lot of 'what ifs.' I've been working on it, although once in a while I fall back into those old habits and I have to remember that people don't always think about it as the big deal I imagine it to be. It seems to be a common trait, like if a person has a small spot on the clothes and the person is imagining everyone's eyes zeroing in on that spot and judging that person, even though that spot might be barely visible or noticeable. I think I going to tell myself to relax today and not try to over think things, as you are right, it does use up a lot of mental energy.
