My Dad.

I've been alive for 17 years today, and throughout that time, he has never ever wished me Happy Birthday, or even acknowledged my birthday.

Growing up, he never even took an interest in anything I did in my childhood. That means no Turtles, no Transformers, nothing.

Just needed to get that out of my system. Can't let that ruin my day.

But if I didn't specifically have to put one on when I'm wearing a shirt that makes it kind of obvious if I'm not wearing one (out of consideration for other people)... I wouldn't wear them at all. I've never really liked wearing them. Thank god for sports bras, cuz I can really only stand wearing a proper girl bra for about two hours before it just gets way too uncomfortable.

It just kind of sucks that women's nipples are automatically seen as sexual while men's aren't, just because we've got a bit of extra fat on our chests.

... I'm raging against the machine today.

Sorry to hear your headaches are giving you grief.
I agree that we should have a choice, but unfortunately we don't, and that's what sucks. Same goes for shaving our legs and underarms while men can go completely hairy all of the time and no one makes them do anything. Just sucks. If I had my way, I wouldn't wear a bra or shave my legs/underarms in the summer because it should be my choice to do as I please. Sadly, society thinks differently, and it sucks.

I need mine because I'm small chested so my nipples do show, which is stupid honestly. I'd rather go without. One of the biggest problems I have is when you're washing your bra, and the straps get all twisted to the point that you can't untwist them. So annoying!

When someone tells me I'm not allowed to be happy. We'll guess what, I don't care and I'm not sorry. I'm gonna try to be happy no matter how they feel about it.

I can understand Does the city where you live tend to have slow congested traffic, or does it go along at a decent pace? I know when I was in New York City once I saw tons of bikes, but that was because traffic often moved at a snail's pace, and it was simply faster to take a bike then to deal with the hassle of driving a car. Plus, a lot of people there don't own cars (as the congestion is practically legendary) so that might also be why it's so bike heavy.

Yeah, those bike shorts always are funny looking, I wonder why they don't try to make them look a little more stylish?

I don't shave my legs or my underarms, so you could always do as I do! I don't care what society thinks, if it has a problem with something that grows naturally on women as much as men, then it can bite me

In the past I've rocked my body hair and gone totally without shaving for quite a while - it definitely takes a lot of confidence to pull it off though. Myself, I never quite had the guts to go sleeveless in public when I was furry... but I did love my little pit-pets. Society is really weird about body hair; I adore women who don't shave - I think it's unbelievably sexy (of course, women who do choose to remove hair are also sexy ).

Unfortunately, I have internalized enough of the BS Western beauty standards that I do feel I look better without body hair, so these days I do opt for shaving. Plus my partner prefers it - I know that sounds so anti-lib, and he's cool enough to be down with whatever I choose, but I love the dude and hey, relationships are about compromise - besides, I don't mind too much.

It's a bit of a mix; basically it's a ten minute stretch of road that I call the death-strip and it leads along a main road to the highway so traffic is moderately speedy. If I were right in the middle of the city, it wouldn't be so bad but because it's about 15 minutes outside of the central business district, it's a bit of a different animal.

And hey, way to rock your body hair Metalwolf - you go girl.

Headbands: That's a rough one, brother. Chin up.

On cyclists: F*ck it, you're a grown-up now, keep your toys in the yard and leave the roads to the cars before you get killed. Some of these f*ckers act like they own the road, and they make me late to work alllll the time. I know they're technically "not allowed" to ride on the sidewalks. Change the laws. I live in NJ, where, literally, 8 people walk. There is NO CHANCE a cyclist on the sidewalk would hurt anyone. Get. The F*CK. Off the ROAD.

On bras: Over 90 degrees, all girls topless. That's my rule, and it's been submitted. Obama doesn't listen to anything I say, unfortunately. Clearly, he doesn't understand the urgency of the situation. As for me, it really has nothing to do with sympathy for women. I just like hooters. But I mean, if y'all are more comfortable that way, too, then I guess it's win/win.

On body hair: Well,... I'm not gonna try and make anyone feel bad, but I don't agree. I totally empathize, since I'm naturally ape-chested myself, but have to shave everything for wrestling. Takes forever. Chest, arms, pits, back... I wear long tights, but I hate looking ridiculous the rest of the time walking around with a shorn upper body and hairy legs, so I usually just say "f*ck it" and take care of that while I'm down there. At first, I fought like hell on it, as I didn't think it made a difference, and it IS a huge pain in the ass. But every week, every show, I'd hear, "God, you look disgusting, you gotta get rid of that sh*t. You're supposed to look like an athlete. Plus, I don't want that sh*t scraping up and down my face when you put me in a headlock, and it smells awful, too." I kind of got their point, but still resisted, until some of the promoters - aka, "the guys who pay me" started saying it, in a little nicer way. "You'll look a lot more athletic, and your muscle tone shows more, without all that hair covering it up. Your character is kind of a pretty boy, so you should really think about it. It might improve your appeal with the females in the audience." And you know, sonofagun, they were right. I hate doing it, but I *did* look better immediately and people did respond better (and I stopped getting chopped for having armpit hair, that's a plus ). So, when I say I'm not a fan of body hair, I'm not being insensitive. If anything, I have a lot more work to do than any of you. But sometimes the wife goes a couple days between and I don't like how it feels, at all, and she's really dark-haired, so sometimes it looks like she's dirty. I'unno, I just don't like it. People gonna do what they do, obviously. Ain't trying to make anyone feel bad. Yeah, it's a looks-based society... but it does look better.

Feel free to call me a hypocrite, though, based on the fact that a razor hasn't hit this face in years and I only bother to buzz-trim it once every two weeks.

What grinds my gears recently? When I'm web surfing for table top rpg material, reviews, whatever, and it keeps bringing up video game stuff. Even this forum has a section for video games, books, literature, favorite hallmark cards, etc. but there's nowhere to post about the pen and paper games that video games owe their whole existence too. Is it really that much of a dying medium? Maybe so, if I have to post about it on the subforum filled with posts about which celebrity person just died.

For my part, if someone's not attracted to body hair - that's fine; but i like them to at least think about the reasons why and the social conditioning that's gone into it. And anybody who acts like women are obligated to remove body hair or they're disgusting really puts my back up. It's fine for someone to not be into it personally, but it's a question of respecting a woman's bodily autonomy enough to realize that it's a personal choice, and not a femininity tax that female-bodied persons are obligated to pay. Beauty comes in many different forms.

I don't know about guys, but I myself never had a problem with any additional odors when I didn't shave - I'm a clean freak so I shower a minimum of twice a day as it is. Hell, I even conditioned my pit pets - I kept those babies soft and flurfy!

Actually, if my body hair were blonde instead of brunette, I'd probably keep my pit pets just so I could whack some Special Effects Atomic Pink into those babies... then I'd have pretty pink punk pits! Underarm candyfloss! I'd shake those babies all over town like Barbie's latest dreamhouse accessory.

Hey, congrats on making Hench Mutant! You mean tabletop like Vampire the Masquerade and Werewolf: Apocalypse? I own the books because I love the art, but don't play - I'd imagine there'd have to be some tabletop gamers in here though! We have a forum full of nerds here - I refuse to believe that nobody here plays D&D!

Oh I love Werewolf:Apocalypse's art! Even though I don't play the game, just the pictures and bits of story are enough for me

That's awesome !

You seriously have to play Vampire the Masquerade and Werewolf the Apocalyse. After years of limiting myself to d20 games, I fell in love with how elegant and awesome the gameplay can be in a non-d20 game. The World of Darkness games are compatible with each other too, even more so with the reboot (ie: Vampire the Requiem and Werewolf the Forsaken) so you can have a mix of monsters in your party. Short learning curve and the best the horror game genre has to offer. Highly recommended.

When I was driving, someone tried to pass me the second we were merging (two lanes became one lane). I really hate people who do that to me. I came so close to getting into a car accident because of it.

I wouldn't say it's a dying medium, but it is getting harder to find people to play those kind of games with because there's a split; some people like playing tabletops online over voice chat, other people strictly stick to physically playing them. My brother's had a lot of luck with the guys at local game stores, though! They all do tabletop gaming.

On that note I briefly did some Vampire the Masquerade LARP. That was really fun.

We're talking about the movie section here, right? Hope I haven't said anything to annoy you - I know I turn into a bit of a loudmouth about social... issues!!!

I can't tell you how many times people have accused me of "personally insulting them" when I'd make a post outlining some opinions I have that isn't even directed at anybody.

people that actually defend horrid dubs

seriously, how can anyone defend dubs like

I mean, it's one thing when the dub is good (stuff like Funimation/Viz dubs) but how could anyone defend a dub that destroys the shows atmosphere?

Generally, unless it's absolutely unwatchable [the Sailor Moon dub that erased canon lesbians, for instance] I'll watch a dub over a sub any time just because I prefer to multitask when I watch things. Subs demand your attention and it makes me want to stay away from the source material at all; I generally won't watch an anime in any way shape or form if there's no dub.

To be honest I even watched through a lot of Cardcaptor Sakura's dub [yeah, not my best moment].

Generally, yes, but I've encountered it elsewhere on the boards, & on other websites, & in real life... It's a plaaaague! We're fine, never been a prob between you & I. If there was, I'd make it clear. I'm not one to beat around the bush, as many here know.

Yeah, dubs are my most frequent watches because I'm often interwebbing with movies/tv in the background... but I do make myself watch subs as well because I need the hipster cred. Oh, and the people who made Uranus and Neptune "cousins" for the dub (and changed Zoisite to a woman) need to be kicked in the crotch. Ok I don't really wish physical harm on them but seriously... rageface.

I've got a gear-grind. My relationship with my dad is complicated (I know, brace yourselves... dad angst a-coming!). He and my mother are divorced and I'm the only one out of the kids who has/had a close relationship with him. Anyway, for most of my life he's taken overseas jobs so he can pretend that he doesn't have children/spend time with his latest girlfriends - over the last few years he's become even more distant, which has been hard for me because even though he never spoke to the others much, he always made time to catch up with me (side note - when I say "the others", I mean my sisters - I actually have two bio-sisters but I only speak to one/haven't seen the other in years; that's a whole other story though).

For all intents and purposes, he basically lives overseas. And there's not much in the way of phone or email contact - maybe due to the nature of his job, or maybe because that's just the way he is; I don't know. I keep getting mad that I see him/talk to him for maybe half an hour/an hour maximum, twice a year (if I'm lucky) and every time he's back in the country, he gives me like two hours' notice and expects me to drop everything to catch up with him.

And every time, like a schmuck, I do because I love him and miss him and wish he were around more - and wish that he actually wanted to be around more and that he wanted to be a part of my life.

Long story short - just got a call from the old man saying he's back in the country and I'm catching up with him tomorrow. Sigh. Oh, and my kid sister is coming and he invited my partner, cuz he always does that - he arranges to catch up with everybody all in one hit so he can avoid having to catch up with us individually and hey, why spend two hours having daughter time when you can just meet up with both of them and get the whole mess over and done with in an hour?

Freaking doormat, I am.

EDIT: Ah, good-oh, Powder! I just don't want to get annoyingly SJW.
