It never ceases to amaze me how you hate-spew all over some of the most level-headed people here for not liking what you like. You got problems, kid.

"Bahstin": You're quite eloquent and well-spoken. I approve of you in general.

uhh not everyone is going to be fond of tmnt...Im pretty sure most people prefer GOTG for other reasons, not only for the sole purpose of attacking this movie.

Spewing hate? Pointing out hypocrisy and whining among the anti-movie posters is hate? You got the issue cupcake.

It's generally neither of those things, actually. Some people have more nuanced tastes and some are, shall we say, more easily amused. That's a simple fact of life, and calling everyone in the former category a "whiner" isn't doing you any favors. From what I've seen, Boston is a generally pretty decent dude and doesn't deserve to be bitched at because there's stuff he doesn't like about the movie. That, and he's good at mature discourse, whereas you pretty much immediately call everyone a crybaby when they don't agree with you.

Someone tell me: Does the real Voltron still post around here? He was a lot more entertaining and a lot less uppity than some of these other guys.

You should have seen when I posted "I saw it a few hours ago, ehh I didn't like it.." regarding the preview a few days ago on the GOTG thread, yep im still getting bashed for posting that one comment. That was the most hypocritical thread I have ever been on lol

Of course not everyone isn't going to like the new turtles movie, I had issues with "TMNT" after seeing it in 2007 and I might have issues with the upcoming movie no movie is prefect. But come on the level of hate this movie is getting from certain posters put that question out there. If this movie wasn't opening up a week before Turtles I doubt that movie would get mention and if Guardians did get talked about it would end up in the non-TMNT threads. As for Guardians all I said it looks like a generic sci-fi movie crammed with pop culture references that's kind statement compared to what the anti-movie folks have said about the upcoming Turtles flick.

Early tracking numbers (3 weeks out) has GOTG opening to $60 million domestically.

I'm really curious to see how this does. I hope it does well simply because it'll open up the possibilities for the Marvel cosmic universe on screen. Marvel is certainly taking some risks with 3 of their next 5 movies (GOTG, Ant-Man, Dr Strange)

Really? That low?

Granted it's 3 weeks out but I expected a much bigger tracking number with all the hype and ish.

I absolutely loved the 17 minute preview, and the crowd I was with was absolutely crazy about it. Definitely made me confident that the movie will do extremely well in my area at least.

I'm seeing more TMNT promotions in my area than GOTG, yet people around here seem strangely ignorant of the film's existence in spite of it, while GOTG is getting a decent amount of buzz and their products are flying off the shelves. I have actually had recent conversations with two different people who actually thought Megan Fox playing April was an internet joke, "Something Michael Bay would do."

Truthfully, I think neither film is generating as much buzz as they ought to, but I've recently seen things start turning a lot more positive for GOTG, especially since the 17 minute preview. TMNT comes out a week later, though, so I think it would be unfair to say TMNT is lagging in buzz when it hasn't even been a week since the GOTG peek.

I think maybe some of us have hype confused with amount of advertising.

My friends are probably all going to see Guardians. I played the new trailer at Mario Kart get-together, and out of the six people other than myself (mid to late 20's men and women), only one gave a fraction of a damn. (But that one is excited.) And people straight up laughed when they saw Megan Fox was April. Then the conversation shifted to how April needs a yellow jumpsuit...

I don't remember the point I was trying to make...

Too bad other studios that have Marvel movies don't see the possibility of making more money by allowing crossovers. An Amazing Spider-Man, Avengers movie would kick ass.

According to the more conspiracy-theory-ish rumors, Sony has been coming around to the idea, or at least is leading Marvel to believe they're considering the idea, hence all the Spidey products on toy store shelves, which help promote the film but require Marvel's involvement to produce. Fox, on the other hand, refuses to play ball, hence there's not been a single Days of Future past toy to be seen.

I'm not even sure why the other threads are locked and this one is not. This is like the official GotG thread in a TMNT movie forum.

The hypocrisy is thick with the anti-movie crowd. I've been around this forum for a while and I've seen the anti-movie posters talking trash to people who support the movie. I've been far more fair to the anti movie people than the anti-movie people have been with pro movie posters. Remember the term movie plants or certain posters questioning the date someone joined? Of course not that would put a dent in your argument. All I ever said was if Guardians wasn't opening up a week before Turtles many of you guys wouldn't talk about that movie. I never told Boston he should fall over and worship at the altar of the turtles movie and if he doesn't he's a fool.

As for mature debate do you mean agree with you? That's what I'm sensing you're hinting at. Again there are certain posters that don't follow your rules but since they share your opinion of the movie so I guess they don't count right? Fact is internet fans hate change and they rather see a retread then complain why they didn't add anything new.

If you don't want to be challenge I don't know what to tell you.

I bet in real life, Donnie from Nick wouldn't care.

This movie is tracking for a $60 million opening.

http://www.thewrap.com/guardians-of-...llion-opening/

However, the trend this summer is that everyone seems to be rushing to see something on opening weekend and the following week, it suffers a huge decline. Only a few films this summer have had strong legs. With TMNT's marketing really starting to kick in I have a good feeling that GOTG will be dethroned by TMNT the following weekend.

I wouldn't be surprise if another TMNT TV Spot airs during the World Cup Finals.

Eh, I wouldn't trust that site. If you want tracking numbers, I would go to either BoxOffice.com, Box Office Mojo or sometime Fandango will put up presales. Right now, BoxOffice.Com are expecting 70 million to 80 million, which would destroy the previous OW record for August.
