A guy can hope can't he. I think more people have complained about this one movie or all 4 of the transformers movies.

Or, y'know, we could all just try harder to not get so upset about people expressing differing or critical opinions. Because if you think you're gonna stop that from happening on the Internet, on Planet Earth... well, good luck with that.

Seriously: the source of the bickering isn't the "haters" or the "true fans" or whatever just sharing their views on the movie. It's the people who can't just accept those opinions for what they are and instead keep complaining about them even being stated and keep trying to prove them "wrong". And... y'can't. That's not how opinions work.

Yeah, sure, if you love series you should love it in all its forms including ones that completely change stuff for unexplainbale reasons and turns everything inside out just 'cause personal preferences of the producer, leaving basically only empty shell of the work in question.

I wonder, where were you, when Next Mutation was released? Did you supported it? Did you loved Venus and cartoonish sound effects? You should absolutely loved it, because, you know it's TMNT.

They can't. YOU must like what THEY like, otherwise you are not human being decent enough and those poor babies will not be able to sleep in their beds.

I hope this isn't throwing off the conversation too much, but speaking of complaints I have a new one to offer up.

Liebesman: I believe you cannot get a great performance without a great actor and animators are almost there to retarget that performance onto the characters you create. So when they say “Andy Serkis deserves the Oscar,” he does deserve the Oscar. He does an amazing performance. He makes you believe that Caesar is real and so those were the shoulders we were standing on. So we cast the actors that embodied each Turtle – and their performance was translated.
Liebesman is an ass. Yet again, the FX department of Hollywood is stepped on. You can't tell me it's not possible to give separate Oscars for separate areas of work for CGI characters. Yes, the actors are important for these films, but wtf.. so are the other guys. Those Apes and Turtles would not exist without the guys/girls at the computers.

While I may not be 100% on the design direction of the Turtles, I am all in support that those artists should get the respect they deserve because the job they did otherwise is still superb. I hope Liebesman gives his own artists better due respect than he's suggesting for those behind the Apes movie. Where is Donatello's actor to defend ILM now?

"...animators are almost there to retarget that performance..." wow, I mean it's almost like they did something for the movie.

Yeah, it will be even worse when the movie comes out, because now they can say they saw it and use it in any way they can.

Pretty much yes. If people hate the trailers and then go so the movie they will just hate on what they saw in the movie as well...

Every year people win Oscars for special effects in movies. Nobody has won an Oscar for acting in mo-cap the way he's talking about yet. I don't think he was downplaying the effects artists at all.

Well... Liebesman isn't wrong.

And like the other guy said, they already have awards for SFX. There is no award for mo-cap.

They can't. YOU must like what THEY like, otherwise you are not human being decent enough and those poor babies will not be able to sleep in their beds.
I have read countless posts of people saying they'll never watch the new TMNT on Nick, for whatever reason, the look, April's a teen etc... but then they keep hearing how good it is, and they finally break and watch it, and guess what? They end up loving it. This is my point by saying "If you love TMNT you'll go and support it". You sit there and say they "change things for no reason" but you haven't seen the movie, you have NO CLUE what they changed. And why do you want a carbon copy of something that's already been created? Besides money, the reason things get changed is because creative people get together and come up with ideas they think can enhance the product. Nobody went into this movie saying how can we make this worse?

I don't like every incarnation of the Turtles, but I at least give it a look. If I don't like it, I move on. If this movie sucks, I'll be pissed, but I will forget about it, like I forget about TMNT III. And I'll open my TMNT Bluray pizza box set and watch the 90's movie and the '07 movie when I want to see a Turtles movie.

You sound dumb when you say they change things for no reason. When the comics and cartoons have all had different writers and stories, they change things all the time, but again, for whatever reason if it's changed in a movie YOU'RE WHOLE LIFE IS RUINED

This current one is pg-13, it's not exactly a children's movie.
The PG-13 rating means nothing these. They make these movies knowing full well that not only will young kids go in see but a lot of times their parents will take them.

A lot has been said about this movie from the people involved and what it's supposed and a lot of contradictory from this being a more realistic and dark take to it being a huge outlandish family movie but if we're to take the latest comments by Leibesman as the definitive answer then he's plainly stated that he believes the concept is so stupid that it can't be done in a serious way like the Nolan Batman movies or even semi-serious way ala most of the Marvel Studio movies. So what does that leave?

It's comments like this that make me wonder how people are TMNT fans if they think things like this. Tell did you always the other versions were lazy in this aspect or did not think about it until this movie made it an issue?

He uses a bo because it's what he was trained to do. To some degree it's been pointed out in few versions that when all is said and done the turtle with the most complex has the simplest weapon. There's a certain charm to that I'd say.

Of course I have to ask why there has to be a Turtle Van at all in this movie? And by that I mean one that looks so outlandish compared to the supposed "realistic" they were apparently going for. That's just the look. though Depending on what the van can do I'd still say a super strong pogo stick is way to silly.

A movie version of a comic or cartoon, should not just take from source material. It is a new avenue of entertainment. If the cartoons don't have to pull directly from the comics, then why should the movies have to pull every single scene and action? I want a new take, I want to be surprised and be shown a different version of what I already know.
I think people tend to exaggerate how the cartoons have differs but even the cartoons are generally for a specific audience with movies we expect a little more.

And Hollywood is littered with Catwomans and Swamp Things and Leagues of Extraordinary Gentlemens that all failed with common denominator being they deviated from the sources way too much.

A lot of the successful comic book movies of today like the first Iron Man, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, the Nolan Batman movies all take a great deal from the comics even adapting specific story lines. Just look at how pumped people are for the Man of Steel sequel because they are using elements from specific DC stories.

It's funny when movies are made from books people actually listen when it's pointed out to them if there's changes and to some degree respect that the original authors intention is more valid. Whereas with comics people who point out changes have a sneering attitude towards them that they are just nerds living in their parents basement that handle change.

But as I've pointed out the history of these movies show that keeping true to source works. It's actually kind of arrogant to suggest that Hollywood can improve on ideas and designs that have lasted for decades.

When I said we get to see them doing things we've never seen before, I said in a live action movie. We get to see them leaping all over the place in the cartoons and comics but never in a live action movie. We get to see some crazy action scenes now. Why is this a bad thing? They are mutant turtles, this is hardly set in any form of reality. They can bend logic because this plot, these heroes can never be in real life.
That's great. We finally get to see the characters do things they were always meant to do but never could...but why does that have to tacked on with them doing things they never mean to do also?

Let's be clear no comic book heroes can ever be in real life but no one makes these kinds of arguments that Captain America should be flexing bullets.

The Turtles were born out of mocking the state of comic books in the 80's. He basically says it's absurd to have a serious movie and no comedy relief and have the TMNT's. And I think you're making them out to be something they're not. The cartoons were more comedy and being silly than serious.

No, the other versions were limited by animation techologies and movie technologies. The current TMNT cartoon addresses Donnie's weapon, and he's constantly inventing other weapons to use for himself. It would be lazy for THIS movie to just give him a wooden stick *that's what it is* when he's inventing all these other things, why not give him a metal one, that collapses and expands with some force, giving it more dimensions and more points of attack. And when it's collapsed it compatible which is logical too.

The turtles are not your usual comic book characters. They have a good chance to grab the action comedy genre because it's not being done with comic books. I for one hope this does well and that inspires Fox to go ahead with a Deadpool movie because action comedies can work and be profitable.

I simply don't care whether it's a comic book or novel that's the source material. This is an adaptation of a story that has thousands of directions it's gone in the past, there is nothing wrong with trying to add new elements to the Turtles. And I find people who prefer the book, or comic to movies to be so close minded. Why can't you just go and watch the movie instead of pointing out everything different from the comics or book?

Kevin Eastman helped with this movie, he's behind it 100%, he would know if something is outside of what the turtles are meant to be. You don't know, I don't know. You can lay claim to knowing what they are and aren't meant to be.

Captain America has a bullet proof shield...the Turtles now have a bullet proof shell...what's the problem? In the clip I saw, Raphael is huddled over being shot and he stands up screaming and doing the Hulk flex as the bullets burst on him. He doesn't start bouncing them off shooting the Foot. Calm down.

Captain America's shield has been a staple of the character since the beginning. The shield is the symbol of Captain America. If instead of the shield marvel had just made Captain America's skin bulletproof then people would have been just as mad because that's not the character.

It's like saying, "well Superman can fly so if the turtles can fly in the next movie what's the problem with that?"

He compared them to Captain America not me...Their SHELLS are bulletproof, not their skin, at least I hope not, because then I'll be on the anti bulletproof bandwagon. Shells protect turtles, it's a new way of protecting them, and explaining how they're not dead in 5 seconds after the foot opens fire on them.

Apparently their skin seems to be bullet-proof too. There's a split bullet in his left shoulder, and in another shot, there's one in his right bicep. I don't mind their shells reflecting bullets, but this kinda pisses me off. Ughhh this better be an animation mistake..

But Captain America was brought up because the filmmakers respected and tried to stay true to the source material and you answered it saying that filmmakers of the TMNT movie did the opposite.

Making the turtles bulletproof in anyway basically misses the point of them. They're not supposed to be big and bulky to the point where they would need to be bulletproof. They are supposed to be small and athletic and stealthy, ya know, like ninjas. Sure they can be shot at it, but it's supposed to matter that they're being shot at. If they can just turn around and deflect the bullets with their shells then what's at stake?

well now that I've seen that picture of the skin being bulletproof, I'm bummed about it. I'm still going to see the movie, I still think I'll love the movie. In my eyes, Splinter, April, and other friends, and NYC is what's at stake at all times. The turtles are not going to die. Bulletproof or not. But supporting character's dying is what's at stake. Take The Dark Knight, You know Batman isn't dying, but the fact Jim Gordon "died" was a big loss, and shocking. I'm not saying someone is dying in the TMNT movie either, but that's the real threat when it comes to super heroes.

Stills of that are kinda creepy actually... they look like metal nipples, and were there more it might set off the trypophobia a little.

No they were not. The idea that the first issue was a parody is what media latched on to but according the creators themselves it wasn't.

Peter and Kevin seemed to genuinely like the comics that were influences on creating the turtles and I'd say they were paying homage to a lot of those comics. Yes there's a certain tongue in cheek aspects like the various names but that's not the same and certainly no would read say Return to New York and say that's mocking anything.

Also didn't you earlier say you want an "adult" TMNT movie? An R rated one? If that's so then I'm guessing you must think to some degree the comics were adult in nature.

Also I disagree with your assessment of Leibesman's comic con interview. An action movie with humor would fall right within the Marvel studio movie tone but he stated it's not that level of seriousness.

How were the comics and animated series "limited". If they wanted Donatello to use other more advanced weapons there wouldn't be a problem. In the comics they'd just draw him with one, in the cartoons they'd animate him with it. Are you suggesting all the various creators actually wanted to depict Don with other weapons but couldn't do it? I honestly don't understand why you'd think that.

Also the new show has Donatello using a Bo staff. There was an episode were the staff breaks and he explores using a robot proxy - putting aside that a real bo is actually damn hard to break that episode had him running into trouble using technology and had him reverting to his bo. The moral being that in the end the simplest weapon suits him best. I'd say that's the most overt example of this recurring theme in various media.

I should also point out that a metal collapsible bo staff would be fine with me. The fact that it can flip suvs and steel containers is were it gets stupid.

I've made this point this point before that I believe the movies should be the definitive version. What has been proven to work best for the franchise in all the other versions.

Like I said it seems to work for Marvel and DC who are copying stories, most from even further back.

Well I don't really find this movie's humor actually funny. Nor do I feel straight up comedy has ever worked for the franchise. There's a reason people think the Fred Wolf show jumped the shark in it's fourth season.

So why did you say you hated the whole idea of the turtles being aliens? After all they should be adding new elements and changing everything right? Why were you so closed minded?

Kevin Eastman helped with this movie, he's behind it 100%, he would know if something is outside of what the turtles are meant to be. You don't know, I don't know. You can lay claim to knowing what they are and aren't meant to be.

Captain America has a bullet proof shield...the Turtles now have a bullet proof shell...what's the problem? In the clip I saw, Raphael is huddled over being shot and he stands up screaming and doing the Hulk flex as the bullets burst on him. He doesn't start bouncing them off shooting the Foot. Calm down.
Captain America is supposed to have a bullet proof shield and has always been depicted having one. The turtles are not supposed to have bullet proof shells and never been depicted as having them.

Even if I accepted that as a valid idea (and I'll go as far as to say it's not necessarily a bad one) the flexing the bullets out is ridiculous.
