Aw, thanks.

And hey, to spread the good cheer: I'm glad there are a bunch of folks here who may not necessarily agree on everything (or just flat-out have different tastes and opinions all around in some cases) but can still be really civil and have a good, fun, mature discussion. It ain't even that hard as long as we all keep some perspective and don't come into a conversation with chips on our shoulders or a hostile attitude, y'know?

It's like some people here are just here to start fights, which... c'mon, really? It's a movie.

That's the thing that really blows my mind. Like... really? I know I've gone out of my way to really thoroughly back up my reasons, repeatedly, and a lot of other people that allegation's being aimed at have as well. Seriously - open request for anyone to prove that I haven't backed up my opinions and reasons here.

If you're gonna attack me/us over something, at least make it something real. If you have to make something up in order to start a fight, that's just pathetic.

That's exactly the reason I came back so quick after vowing to go on a "vacation" - I'm sick of the bickering, but I also felt like I was contributing and backing up my opinions and trying to stay mature about the topic, so why should I leave? (Or maybe I'm just too stubborn. Also maybe that.)

I dislike Bay, but not for this reason. Outside of The Rock, The Island, and the first Transformers film, he makes movies that I just find to be incredibly annoying and not very entertaining. That doesn't make me a "nostalgic goof" who thinks Bay ruined my childhood. It just means that I have different tastes than you.

By the way, I don't know about anyone else, but I wish people would stop treating nostalgia as if it were a disease.

Ok, this will be my last reply to you, because now you're just taking my words out of context.
OK.
You have finally answered my questions. Good. We getting there.
The rest of it - you have already said it before, but it doesn't make your points more valid.

That last thing you commented on? I didn't even write that, so not sure why you're lumping that in with my comments, more reason for me not to give you any more of my time.
Wha...what?
You're getting ridiculuous.
I have clearly answered to another person. You think I must make another post just to answer someone else? And this is reason for you to be insulted? What? Some people just doesn't make any sense.

Generally you're just another person who was unable to provide any valid arguments and escaped when it had become hot. Your only achievement is that you complained and...well, no, that's not an achievement.
Whatever.

I don't know what questions I'm ducking? This is not meant as an insult, but I'm assuming English is not your first language? There must be some sort of disconnect, because escaping an argument is not what I do, we're going round and round in a circle I'm answering the same things in response to you. Present a valid point for me to argue and I will. You're the one not making ANY valid points.

I'd contribute more but still groggy from lack of sleep and still shaking off the general anesthesia from a procedure this morning, so I'll just leave it with the hell happening in here.

The movie is getting positive reviews...no matter what I dislike from the trailers, I am happy it appears to be a good movie. I just hope people go see it.

Fun action. I'm the type of person to prefer an R rating for every movie, because I don't get offended at anything. But based on the Nick behind the scenes show, which actually changed my fears of this sucking to my excitement for this to be fun, I don't have a problem with what they're doing.
What bothers me is that I strongly feel that this shouldn't be just another turtles movie.

I've enjoyed all four movies we've had because I'm a fan and can appreciate certain aspects of those movies that others don't. However if I'm objectively it's actually shocking that we're on the fifth movie when there's only ever been one good one (the first).

TMNT as a movie property should have disappeared long ago however by some minor miracle they are making them. This time I feel we're at critical juncture with the franchise here. It isn't turtlemania part II by any stretch but the franchise is at a peak of interest that it hasn't been for a long time and probably will never be again; they had an opportunity here to make something truly special, aim for what the best comic book movies are doing well but they've instead made something for the lowest common denominator.

If this movie doesn't meet expectations of Paramount (and there's more than outside chance of that happening) then I don't think we should take for granted the franchises luck getting movies green or that their response would be that there wasn't enough dick and fart jokes and go along those lines.

Even if we do one day get a really good movie I'd say the window would have passed for it ever really catch on in the way it would now and that's sad to me.

Well my point to this was they weren't going to take the time to animate Donnie's stick to do what it does in the movie. That show had very basic animation. They reuse things all the time, and half the time the wrong colors are on the wrong turtles. I think the Nick series is the best cartoon adaptation so far. I do not like the 2003 series which everyone usually points to as being the best. But at that time in my life I had some heavy stuff go down, and maybe I wasn't in the mood to watch it. I might have to try and watch it again.
I don't think it would even cross their minds to animate Donatello with a super strong advanced staff because that's not the weapon he is supposed to have.

Come to think of it Fast Foward Don had a retractable staff that along with the other turtles future weapons could do some interesting things and 4kids had no problem animating that. Of course that season was set in the future were you would expect them to have technology based weapons. In the present it's always portrayed they are all better off with their basic weapons.

Quote:
That bo he has in this movie is not THAT advanced, it's a simple hydrolic he put together, that is not a far fetched creation.
That is strong enough to flip trucks and steel containers yet small enough to fit in his fist. It is VERY far fetched.

Quote:
It's 2014...that's why he has all this tech. Technology is WAY more advanced than even the 2007 movie was.
There was technology in 1983, 1987, 2003 and 2012 but no one ever saw fit to load Don with so much stuff. If he carried it with him it was in an equally basic backpack.

Also isn't the main feature of most modern technology that it's small. Why is it so freakin' huge and all over his body? Let's not pontificate on this, it's all just for show...and watching cat videos.

Quote:
I can't really argue with anyone anymore about what they consider as a drastic change. I don't think having them being created in a lab is so drastic it makes them not TMNT's. I am not ok with ALL the changes, but I'm still going to give the movie a watch. I'm going in with an open mind, not going in saying oh this is going to be horrible, they're 6 ft tall instead of 5'3. This just reminds me when Bale was cast as batman the fanboys were out saying "FINALLY WE HAVE A 6'2 BATMAN!!!" now granted, this is maybe way different, the turtles are always small but I'm not giving up on it because of 7 inches.
Being created in a lab isn't necessarily a drastic change but that's one thing.

Add it in to the idea that they are drastically redesigned and super strong, add to it that they are now bullet proof, add to it any number of twists to the Shredder story we're being teased with. One or two or two changes if they are genuinely well thought out (and most of these are to validate that leaked turtles-as-aliens script) but how many changes do we make it's no longer the true to the original idea?

Quote:
You're right it was Laird, but he actually said he hates when they want to add one turtle, but he actually thought it was genius to have a planet of turtles like planet of the apes, but it would be a terrible TMNT origin story. Either way, I saw that he said it was genius and I thought it was the opposite. I am completely ok w/ The Krang bringing the mutagen to earth which created them, if that's what they meant by alien. Eastman said that's what was meant by Aliens when he was asked about it at comic con.
Laird was being sarcastic and even didn't a followup on his blog on the nature of sarcasm. He certainly does not think it's a "genius idea" to have a planet of turtles.

Eastman didn't say that at comic con. His point was that to his opinion (or the one he's currently choosing to publicly voice) he doesn't see it being much of difference in principal if the were the product of an alien substance to them being actual aliens. I think most if us disagree.

So much for "I am done with you".
You ducked questions about Mike and Next Mutation initially. Besides, you have acted like drama queen, when I answered on somebody else's post alongside with yours, which was ridculuous.

I have presented valid arguments and all your "arguments" were basically: "give this movie a chance, maybe it is not what trailers showcase" and feeble attempts to convince me, that Bay have nothing to do with it (when he clearly is) and that all those decisions are not really horrible (which they actually are, since they signigicantly alter some core ideas of the series for no reason other than lazyness).

Yep.. I've seen plenty of positive talk so far. One guy I talked to said it was very well paced and that it never felt boring. It was exciting all the way threw. Whenever I ask someone about Shredder they always respond the same.. " Don't worry, you'll be pleased ". Ugh.. 6 more days.
