It's not like 'Into the Storm' is any competition...

You're cool! but his response to his post was totally unnecessary, Pdizzle was just trying to shed some positive light on things.

I sure hope your right, if this movies does not make enough money for the studios we wont get more turtles movies (yes I know we are getting another movie, but that could still change)

Little update from Deadline:

Quote:
In a soft weekend for all newcomers, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Guardians of the Galaxy will easily land the No. 1 and No. 2 box office spots with the Turtles off 60% in its second weekend out as they both continue to play to kids out of school. Turtles will take in around $26M while the Guardians will end up with around $23M for the three-day as it stand now but observers think that the gap between them might close as we head into Saturday. Guardians, of course, has the advantage of holding onto those IMAX screens.

Well, looks like my BO prediction for TMNT is right again. 26 million.

The pizza-eating reptiles are estimated to top the box office with a gross in the mid-to-high $20 millions this weekend. Produced by Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes, the film was made for $125 million and thus far has grossed $117 worldwide.

Only three titles — Paramount’s “Transformers: Age of Extinction,” Fox’s “X-Men: Days of Future Past” and “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” — have managed to win two weekends so far this summer

True. I guess it makes sense, but it's just a bummer that you cannot have a conversation about TMNT on facebook without having someone troll.

"This is OUR city box office!"

Alright, 'you go guys'... no matter what they did with the story they put you in or other choices made, ya can't keep a good Turtle down.

"TMNT" joins only three other movies -- Paramount's "Transformers: Age of Extinction" and Fox's "X-Men: Days of Future Past" and "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" -- that have come in no. 1 at the summer box office for two consecutive weekends.

Never count out the underdog... Even if some things are iffy with their film, kinda makes me a bit proud of 'em to see them do better than expected and keep the big competition at bay (pun not quite intended).

So they're expected to make 1/3rd of their opening weekend take domestically?

I think it's safe to say the majority of all movie goers hit opening weekend these days. Been the same for every film all year pretty much.

It's funny... a few weeks ago i was arguing with Marvel fanboys on the SHH hype (and even some people on this site) constantly "GOTG will beat TMNT!"
"Do you really think TMNT will beat GOTG?"
"GOTG will have better wom"
Me: TMNT will reach a wider audience than GOTG.
Me: who are kids going to choose?
Me: GOTG is unknown, TMNT isn't!

Who's laughing now!!!
