Hello.
Long-time lurker Jukka here. I recently have been getting on a TMNT kick and trying to get back into some of it. So I have plenty questions on many topics. Wanted to ask, is there any notable differences between original Playmate Turtles toy-figures VS the 25th Ann. versions of them? (I know for example that the MOTU Commemorative figures were different from originals, but don't know about them Turtles..) Also, depending which is better to acquire... I wouldn't mind tips on where to begin looking. (As a kid, I had all four turtles, blimp, sewer, van and more. But as I grew up, I had to sell them or give away to other kids, so now years later I'd like to atleast get some of the main guys in my collection. Oh, and at some point the Classics versions cause I'm a big cartoon-fan)

There are minor differences, the 25th figures have bigger peg holes under their feet, and one of Mikey's hands have a wider grip sculpted in his hand. 25th Shredder have a reworked pose in his legs and the 25th Foot Soldier I think is thicker then the original release cause playmates didn't have the original mold, so they had to make a new one.
Which is better to acquire, really depends. eBay is a good estimate to look and price match, if you aren't picky about what release you want to get, you can just mix match the cheapest ones. There's vintage figures with soft rubber heads, and hard plastic heads that have several re-releases. There's the 25th anni. Figures and the latest Retro Classics line where they have again re-released the basic line-up of vintage figures, these are post-Mirage releases. As for Classics collection figures, if you want Fred Wolf cartoon accurate figures, these ain't that. No figures are, sadly. The Classics are more based off the Retro artwork you'll find on t-shirts in clothin stores and other merchandise, as the figures have a lot of differences then the cartoon versions. But. If thats okay for you, they are sub-par figures to have, and get them as cheap as possible. the movie versions are an improvement over the first Classics figures, but not by much. |

Thank you for the quick reply.
Yeah I know the Classics aren't all that super cartoon-accurate. But it's the closest thus far? Oh and def those 1990 movie versions interest me too, so need to hunt them down as well. Not sure if this has been answered before, but in regards to the Classics, will there be an April O'Neil figure coming? EDIT: Oh. And another vintage question. Is there any site or source that has the Turtles boxart in High-Resolution? I'd love to download some of those images. From cards, vehicle-boxes, etc.

The Classics are probably the closest we'll get as of now to a closer depiction of the FW Turtles, there's the vintage Toon Turtles figures, but they are a bit... too toony.
There is no news yet as far as I know about a Classics April, next line up is Shredder and Krang. So we'll see what happens after those, probably another batch of turtles Quote:

![]() ![]() I'd say if you're looking at '88 or '09 rereleases I'd say go to TRU. They're restocking the 30th ann. figures and at $13 (might be lower now) a piece they're much cheaper than even the 25th figures on eBay. Plus I think these are the same minus different dates on the feet as the '09 rereleases. Hope I didn't confuse you. |

I respect what FW cartoon did for the turtles franchise but it is the most overrated and hard to watch of the 3 turtles cartoons. |

You don't have Toys R Us in Finland? The farthest I have been in Europe is England and they had them there but wasn't sure about other countries. Amazon might work if you can get international shipping but it will be a bit costly.
I live in Canada and have imported some figures cause we are slow to get them here. When the 25th Anniversary came the TRU here never got Krang/Shredder, Foot Soldier, Casey Jones, or Slash. Wish I would have got them then from the US cause they have gone up but the recent releases again are promising. I wouldn't be rebuying them though if I hadn't been a 16 year old kid who thought he was too cool to keep them and gave away my whole lot of figures. As someone in his 30s now with 2 boys who love everything turtles I ask what was I thinking? |

And currently on a large supermarket, there are toys for the Toon-inspired figures, Nick figures and 2014 movie stuff. It's crazy.
