Which April is best? Scientist or Reporter?

really depends what you're going for.

"scientist" April is always the badass one. usually fearless, will fight and help however she can. Whereas Reporter April is usually scared of most things and is the damsel in distress. They each work out great to their own effect. Can't chose one or the other. But if I was going into a rumble with Shredder and the foot I'd probably recruit "scientist" April to back me up.
