On that note, there's a TVtropes webpage about the situation you described earlier called "Screwed By The Network", but as for how true it is with Nick TMNT, you can decide.

But if the show does go under earlier than expected or hoped for, there's going to be an emerging debate here in the forums over what exactly exacerbated the problem during the second and third seasons; network meddling versus the show's direction/quality.

Simply appalling! I'll never understand why they refuse to not keep this show in a good consistent time slot, advertise, and show reruns. They don't have a problem ramming this other garbage down our throats. It just upsets me to no end how this show is getting the shaft. It seems to be a consistent thing for these clueless corporations. Good shows get canceled while the garbage thrives.

Well, they paid 60 million for the property. The toys are making about 400 a million a year, so that alone paid back anything they dished out. Then, the movie cost 125, but it looks like the movie will rake in about 400 million WW, so the occasional movie and the toys are bringing in the most of the dough for Nick and TMNT, while the show seems to struggle (I really wish I can get some data on how well it's doing on Itunes and Amazon) maybe Nick doesn't think it's worth it? But then, why hire big actors like Seth Green and Sean Astin, and bring in all of these cameos like Rosanne Barr, John Seder and the like if the show wasn't successful. The nielsen ratings are a flawed system, and sometimes I wonder, how do we know or not, that networks like CBS aren't paying nielsen on the side to fraud the numbers? How popular is the TMNT panel at the comic cons compared to Nick's other panels?

That article is reminding me of what I am seeing going on with the executives and Spongebob. It looks like they love Spongebob, but the second that TMNT looked like it was going to dethrone it, thats when they started to mess with the time slots. Some exectutive is probably using Spongebob as his pat on his back, maybe he was the one that green lit it, or is getting some sort of deal for it. At the same time, maybe it is a fellow executive fighting to get the top position, and it was their idea to buy out TMNT from Laird. Either way, TMNT and Spongebob are nothing but pawns for the executives at Nick, and it looks like TMNT is losing this game.

All I know is whoever is behind the lack of TMNT and the stupid scheduling needs to go.

I don't dislike Spongebob, but now that I realized that there are several reruns of it on before that Monsters High nonsense - there is NO reason Monsters High could not have started a little earlier and gotten the hell out of TMNT's time slot.

Irks me even more that instead of bumping the Turtles to 8:30 tonight, when they've been having repeats of older episodes, they show a repeat of some other show. Da f--- is that? The Turtles can't even have a repeat of their own on.

Looked ahead as far as I could... And when are they listed as showing on the regular Nick channel? Oh, um... lets see... Sunday morning and... well, a week later the Sunday after that. That's it.

Nick Toons channel (I think it's that one?) seems to show them frequently, but it's not a channel everyone has. And come on, the reg Nick channel is THE channel...

I love ya Nick, you started the same month and year I was born (minus being Pinwheel prior), you've always been there, but right now old friend, wtf are you doing. Lifelong viewer and you try to screw over a popular show I love, the Turtles no less?

Not that you'd get an answer but has anyone emailed Nick/Viacom asking why TMNT is being handled so poorly?

No. I wanted to email them to bring back Karai and Irma as full time characters like April and Casey are, but what's the point? I feel they won't care.

It's hilarious when people think they know better than actual businesses.

Email, no... Let opinion be known via the FB page, sure. But of course that's just some poor sap paid to man their FB page. But it's at least a small in for someone there to say something to the right person if fans got it to that point.

See... maybe they need tons of sob story emails about how sad people's children are that it's on so little. (Even if it's really an inner child, but they don't need to know that... )

It was the same unfortunate mess with Korra and Avatar.
Great shows, but both got no love form the network. Korra's really getting **** on by getting permanently kicked to online. I figure its because Korra has zero merchandising value. TMNT is the opposite. So I really don't know why they'd do that. Perhaps its an expensive show to make compared to **** like Breadwinning or Spongebob.

Yes, it was certainly one of the most emotional and acclaimed and intense moments in the show that drove viewers away, not the multi-month long hiatus that occurred right afterward to make room for the highly controversial movie, nor Nick's complete lack of advertising that the show was returning or entering a third season.

What a colorful way of perceiving things.

And, it's curious, I think the last time the series was in the 3 million viewing range, was in Karai's Vendetta. Just saying, Karai has a bigger following than the creators want to admit.

The stupidity in this thread is off the charts!!!! I'm sure e-mailing Viacom and asking them if they're trying to kill a show because its not on when you want it to be won't immediately be thrown in the 'whiny entitled fan' bin.

Also. STILL WITH THE SPONGEBOB BASHING? Get over it people! TMNT wouldn't have done as well in the beginning if it wasn't for the Sponge's lead-in. It actually helped the show get a foothold. Enough.

If I may ask, how so?

Not like the Turtles didn't already have a long established fanbase that would show up to check out a new show.

The young audience that they were trying to grab. Spongebob is a consistent kid magnet. Attach the new show to a very popular established show. Happens all the time.

The kids are the reason the show has been successful and the toyline has gone bananas. That's what the goal was. That 'long established' fanbase you speak of is pretty small in the grand scheme of things.

So from what I understand the production is actually rather slow compared to cel-animated shows and cheaper CGI cartoons, which causes the large gaps between episodes. Maybe future cartoons will be cheaper?

The time it takes to render one episode from the other isn't the issue. The fact that they don't even want to bother showing reruns during the Turtle's spot is ticking people off. It's also a bit nerving to know that many networks will purposely move a show on Friday nights when they want an excuse to ax it.

But I've read other articles that show that Nick is struggling with all of it's programming, and is constantly getting beat by Disney. TMNT is safer than other shows like Kora though, because the merchandise is so popular.

Still the show is doing better than the 2003 series was doing when it was at the third season. It is a lot more polular than 2003 ever was. If the less popular 2003 series managed to reach 7 season then why do you worry that the new more popular show will have problems ?!

Yeah, that's the part that bugs me. They're not on that much as it is, if you're going to move them to 8pm can't they at least own that time slot and have a rerun if a new one isn't available yet? That's kind of how tv used to work. :\

While I completely understand that rendering it out does take quite a while - in my own use of such software, maybe some of the same, I've only done so on short little pieces of stuff that don't have nearly the amount of detail and whatnot they put into it and that alone can take time per frame, but this is also on a single, older computer - not to mention the time for them to do the animation, editing, and pre-production... at the same time though, I have a hard time believing there aren't at least a couple more ready to go. It might take time, but there was all summer, I assume probably things started for season 3 back toward the end of season 2 before summer, if not sooner, not to mention they'd have access to multiple computers to get this stuff pumped out once it hits the rendering phase. You could certainly have different computers working on getting different portions of an episode out at the same time that will be edited together later.

Maybe the next isn't ready, I suppose that's not out of the realm of possibility, but... I dunno. I would think they'd be a bit further along with it. Esp if it picks back up soon and we get a few showing one after another again - so the next is surely already waiting to air, either that or someone will be feeling very rushed in that studio with needing the next one out the following week.
