And even if the writers made Mikey into a creepy, border-line rapey niceguy. I really like Noel, his voice, and he took the time to learn how to use the Nunchaku, which makes it a big bummer that Mikey barely uses the 'chucks properly in the movie. Heck, when Shredder disarms Mikey and used the chucks for a couple of swings, he was doing more Nunchaku action then Mikey did in the whole movie...

Agree, some dialogue aside, Noel was an awesome Mikey. I'm hoping that, assuming they will all be back for the sequel, they'll keep practicing and maybe that one will feature a bit more weapons work from them.




Edit: As for wonky things in the script... exactly how old is Shredder if he was "like a father" to Eric Sacks/Sachs? Who is no youngster either. Magic robot suit or not, that is an agile guy for his assumed age range. lol

By any measure, the script for this movie was utterly broken. Badly written. Objectively.

Why can't we shoot for "awesome" or even "good" instead of "better than Manos: The Hands of Fate"?

Same thing that was up with "Oroku Saki" existing in another dimension separate from the rest of the movie.

Some vague dimension that looked like a set that was built over the weekend.

Really does seem like the one and only thing rock-solid from Day One was the snow chase scene, and everything else was kind of tacked together around it like a collage or something. Little bits added and subtracted and moved around until you're not looking at anything coherent at all anymore, just a patchwork quilt of madness.

Building a movie around one action scene. One also riddled with inconsistencies and stupid moments.

Well William Fichtner is 57. So Sachs is also around 57.

"Oroku Saki" must be 85.

Also, that show was funnier than this movie. And this movie failed the Charles Barkley requirement while said animated series did not. It's a subtle but important distinction.

Been a few months since I've seen the movie, so I can't recall many specifics at the moment...but I think most of us here can agree the script was (predictably) shallow. And I guess it's for the better that it underwent all those rewrites...but they should have had a better writing team in the first place.


But, come on. When you're dealing with an idiotic plot, how much help can the writing really be? If anything, they suit each other, in that they're both laughable. This thing was all about visuals.

Another thing that bothered me, which is more the sound department then the writing, I guess. But the turtles where loud, way too loud. Not just vocally, but during their Batman Begins moment in the shipping container yard.

The scene was relatively cool, up until the shipping container was thrown at the Foot. But the sound effects of the turtles "stealth running" around was way to loud, and really not ideal at all for sneaking sfx.n

I'm fine with the script (honestly I expected way, way worse), I just wanted one thing that never happened: a scene with the Turtles hanging out & getting to know April. Just ONE SCENE would do. Most of her screentime with them, she's staring at them with confusion & fear. Realistic I guess (they'd be a sight you wouldn't get used to in a hurry) but a scene similar to the impersonation games scene in the 1990 film would've been awesome. Would've also given Fox a chance to show some personality.
