Preferred Director?
So if you could choose the director for a rebooted TMNT movie franchise, who would it be?
Christopher Nolan? Jon Favreau? Guillermo del Toro? Peter Jackson? Myself, I'm thinking Peter Jackson... he's got it in him to do great mocap and CGI, he's great at adaptations (please don't turn this into a Hobbit-hate thread), he's used to CGI height differences (the Turtles are supposed to be around four feet tall), and he's great at developing groups of characters (Dwarves or Fellowship of the Ring).

I love the Fast and Furious movies, and after hearing he's doing Star Trek 3, I'd wanna see Justin Lin. The Fast movies are about great set pieces and family; things that he could implement perfectly into Ninja Turtles.

Rian Johnson - Looper, Brick, he's directing the Star Wars sequels.
Neill Blomkamp - District 9, Elysium, Chappie McG - I love Terminator Salvation, and think he could deliver a very good TMNT movie. Edgar Wright - Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, Scott Pilgrim vs The World, The Worlds End Doug Liman - Bourne Identity, Jumper, Edge of Tomorrow. He also directs a lot of episodes of Suits which really mixes the comedy and drama. Gareth Evans - The Raid movies The team of Evan Glodell and Jonathan Keevil - Bellflower and Chuck Hank and the San Diego Twins. This is my dream, to have them tackle an R rated, gritty, TMNT movie.

My ideal? Get a hong kong/wuxia director in there, someone like Zhang Yimou or Ang Lee. They know the genre, and would do the TMNT justice.

Oh man. This guy wants McG to get another gig. Do you even movies, bro?
Actually I also didn't hate "Salvation" but on the whole I think that guy's an A-1 Hack. I think Bale secretly backseat "directed" that film, or at the very least screamed at everyone until they did what he wanted, which is actually kind of the same thing. |

I hate X-Men 3 but I'd take Rat-Bastard over McNuggets any day.

Ratner & McG were the two could-totally-see-happening choices that I'm truly thankful didn't. Don't want their names anywhere near this franchise. Liebesman has a track record of dull, bleak, lifeless, sepia-filtered, personality-free films (big reason why I was suprised with the film we got & don't oppose to it the way most do). Wouldn't have minded him staying onboard, it's the screenwriters I wanted replaced. None of my dream directors would realistically touch this but I'm excited to see how Dave Green does. His work gives you zero indication of what we'll get (one family movie & a bunch of violent shorts) but at least Screen Junkies (massive Turtle fans & friends of Green) gave him the thumbs up.

Are there rumors or concrete information about why Liebesman stepped down as the director?

David Fincher would be awesome. George Miller would be great as well. Also ANYONE can use choose to use practical effects, people should learn to separate the director and the VFX used. Del Toro is too Cheesy. I'm glad he's no where near it. I get that many people want rubber suits again, but literally any director could opt for practical suits. Quote:

YES, George Miller would be perfect. He's done both family films & hardcore actioners. He could combine both sensibilities & make the perfect TMNT.
Yeah Liebesman is rumored to be onboard for T5. He's also in the middle of doing a TV series, which could have something to do with it. It's also possible they just didn't want him back considering their problems with Liebesman's initial more serious version of the film.

Alejandro Jodorowsky? I'd be okay with alien turtles if he was directing it.

I actually WANT CGI Turtles. The Turtles were the best part of the movie (which was as it should have been).

Yes because he's the only director I listed...I've only seen one movie of his, and it was with a franchise I love just as much as TMNT. And he did it justice, he paid homage, and it's a damn good Terminator movie, despite the fact the studio made him cut it from R to PG-13. And in my opinion Bale is the worst part of the movie. This just made me realize Sam Worthington would be a kick ass Casey Jones...

The only thing Christian Bale could ever possibly be the "worst part" of would be a family reunion. And I'm sure his mom had it comin' in the first place.
...That's a really dated joke. I'unno if anyone's gonna get it. |
