While the first few episodes of Season 3 have been fair at best, this was the first genuinely good episode of the series. I loved the action and the new designs. 9/10. I hope that it's only up hill from here.

agreed the "new outfits" was an excuse for Playmates to make more turtle figures.

Well... I can take it as also being part of adding interest and meaning to the story, though in that case I also wish the outfits had more explanation within the show.

Instead of always just finding ways to put new figures on the shelves, what they need to do is get together more with Build-A-Bear and sell new show-related outfits for the TMNT plushes. Darn outfits tend to cost more than the regular little figures anyhow.

Incredible episode! Probably my favorite of season 3, along with Buried Secrets (for some reason I loved that episode and everyone else was really "meh" on it).
Loved that Splinter was seen, and that his appearance was a reference to the original movie but it was adapted so greatly that it fit completely with the story of the episode. Speaking of reference, Raph had a great Goonies one. I don't even like that movie but it still amused me.
Mikey was great, too. What is everyone talking about on here, him not maturing? I saw nothing but maturity in Mikey for the last half of the episode!
I could keep rambling, but I'll just finish up saying that this episode lived up to all the hype I've been hearing about it for months.

Well this was the best episode I've seen all season! I feel like it's only going to get better from here too.

This was a great episode! At first I thought it was starting out slow, but I wanted to give it a chance. I'm glad that I did. The second half of te episode was great, and finally seeing Splinter again was awesome. I've rewatched much of season 1 and was thinking about how this show needs the wisdom that Splintor provides.

Also, is this the first episode since season 1 where Fishface said actual words? I remember hearing him growl in season 2, but I don't remember hearing him speak. Even though I'm not a huge fan of the character, it was cool to see Fishface interact with Raph again.

Don't agree with you on the overall episode but your description of this scene made me laugh my ass off.

I thought it was a good episode. Not an amazing one, but a good one. I enjoyed the moodiness of it, the fight scenes and Leo getting his head kicked in by a deer. I don't think it's the best episode of the season by a long shot, but then I look for different things than some.

Some people love anything that advances the larger plot arc, even (or especially) if that involves seeing scenes or ideas we've already seen in other versions of TMNT. And for that reason, with this being the most "plot advancing" episode of the season, it's already a guaranteed hit in some quarters. For me, I will always love the "filler" stuff that everyone else moans about because that's where all the funniest, weirdest and most original stuff about this series lies.

And whilst the vision quest stuff was done fairly well here... well let's face it we've all seen vision quests before. We know how it goes. And I was thought it was anti-climactic that Raph, Don and Mike all ended up fighting villains that they've actually fought and defeated before in the real world. What's the big deal about Mikey defeating Rahzar in the spiritual plain when he's already done it in the physical plain?

I rewatched the episode and I still love it. Loved the backround music it made me have chills.

I just love the Turtles individule Vision quest. Loved Raphs flame weapon. Mikey defeating Spirit Rahzar was badass and Leo shooting an Arrow into Spirit Shredder's eye was pretty dark.

I noticed when the spirit deer appeared and then Raph, Donnie and Mikey went to attack it because they thought it was a mutant then Donnie accidently hitting Mikey and Raph and then Raph got mad then started attacking Donnie. I wonder if this is foreshadowing the the Dark Raph story.

That was one awesome episode! Loved everything about it from the comics reference with Leo and the deer, the campfire scene with Splinter, and all of the vision quests. It was just great all around, though I loved Leo's fight the best and loved when he hit Shredder right in the eye. I hope he does something like that when he faces him for real. And someone mentioned Leo learning about the lesson in the last episode, but that was more about him not letting the pain get to him, though I think he still has that fear even after all of that, so it makes sense he'd still be feeling the pain. And I still say there's more to it than just the knee pain itself and he's still afraid to face Shredder. Overall, a very awesome episode. Loved the Goonies reference and Mikey wiping away a tear. Bring on the Return to New York!

Best episode yet! True, the story pace was a bit fast, but this being a 20min show, the writers did the best they could. I think whether it would've been better as a two-part-er depends on how well the rest of the season plays out.

If the rest of S3 is focused on the main plot with no fillers, then maybe you can "excuse" the writers for making "Vision Quest" a single shot affair. But if we're going to have a number of non-main-storyline-related episodes, I think there was definitely a missed opportunity here to engage in more complex storytelling about the turtles' spiritual journey.

And then Mikey is the only one to get emotional.
I agree with you on the campfire scene. I think Splinter should have said how much he loved or missed them, anything emotional. Maybe he couldn't wherever he is, but it would have made me believe Mikey crying over it.

I also wanted an emotional connection between the brothers like in the movie, where they all hug and cry together. I guess they don't want to get too mushy. Little boys might turn the channel.

Also, guys, am I the only one who found Leo's fight with Shredder a little too evenly matched? Maybe it was just the spirit, but Shredder seemed a lot weaker than he really is. Last time Leo fought Shredder, Shredder pinned him down within a few seconds. I'm really hoping the Turtles fight Shredder as a whole again before Leo faces him on his own.

I also thought another place that might be foreshadowing is when Raph controls his anger, turns around and lights his weapons on fire. It reminded me of Shredder a bit. I may be reaching a bit here, but I thought it could possibly be a subtle foreshadow.

I noticed that too. What I do like about the Leo/Shredder fight however, is how Shredder became a giant, and that's how Leo defeats him. We still have the proper Shredder turtle fight for later, and the fight in this episode is won in such an unreal way that the later fight won't feel rehashed or anything.

Also what exactly was up when the deer went into Leo's head? I'm not sure what that was supposed to signify. Was it just Leo finally getting his injury out of his mind?
