They could have had an off screen moment where Donnie hacks into April's fathers email and sends a notice saying that April is going on a trip outside of the country with him and she would be gone the rest of the year.

And April probably had correspondence with her teachers about her homework assignments so that she can keep her grades up.

Emphasis on could. Leaving things like this up to speculation still seems lazy to me. Just like April staying with her aunt. We never find out what she told her aunt.

that was not. id imagine its because they planned to use april, and it is a populous city, so good place to start, then probably expand

as the gang drives up to them, you see barricades set up with epf soldiers, and they tell casey the city is quarantined. as the soldier walks away, you see the soldier has a brainwashing device like mr oneil had. the kraang are controlling the epf. also, as to why the rest of the world may not be responding, carlos chang whatever broadcasted, obviously brainwashed saying the people of new york are fine
