Y'know how when you play Monopoly, and once all the properties are acquired it's actually *better* to be in "Jail", because you can sit back and collect all the rent money from people landing on your stuff while you sit back, risk-free?

It's kinda like that.

As time goes on I find more & more perfect excuses to turn him into The Rat King... Damn.

Some details on what we can expect for Casey Jones in the sequel.

“Gone is the bow and arrow. Incoming is the hockey stick. Without getting too spoilery or even a little spoilery, I will say that you can consider this movie, the movie in and of itself is not this, but for my character, it’s a little bit of an origin story,” said Amell. “So when we meet Casey Jones, he is not necessarily the butt-kicking, vigilante shadow-of-the-night that he may eventually become. As a result, the fighting style for me is much different. It’s much more take many more risks. It’s much less calculated. It’s just beating guys up with a hockey stick.”
He's not a vigilante at the start of the movie.

Well, if him coming into his own as the "character" of Casey Jones from Arnold Jones is what they're doing, then I can see why they simplified his look (For the time being, anyway). Hmm.

Basically what I had been thinking with the short hair and more basic look, but I wish instead of piling an origin story into the first they'd just progress the character further through sequels, assuming it goes beyond two movies.

I'd prefer a subtle progress rather than too much focus in one film and turning it into the Casey Movie. Would be more creative on their part.

If they had done this Jones thing in place of Vern/Sack's crap in the first, there'd be a lot less complaints from us fans.

I bet by the end of the film, He becomes a full fledged vigilante.

All at the expense of screen time for the Turtles.

perhaps...but better screen time for Casey (an important character in the Turtle-verse), than stupid Vern, or Sachs, or the Knicks, or another model, who we'll forget about by the time the credits roll.

Maybe he should have just already been a vigilante then. Since this isn't Casey Jones: The Movie.

Well, technically it is. It's just April and Casey: The Movie.

In this case they better just make the thing three hours long... Casey needs to be a good asset to the Turtles, not central to the film.

Feel like the Turtles will just be sitting up on the edge of a building swinging their feet and waiting for their turn to be in it.

So... is anyone wondering whether they're still going to go the "Casey is April's old boyfriend" route?

Amell's comments kinda confuse. It's not like Casey is a big butt kicking shadow of the night-style vigilante anyway.

If he's trying to say that Casey isn't actually a good fighter then I wonder if that's actually based on something or whether it's similar to the conclusion that people had drawn that the reason the turtles didn't really do much martial arts in the movie was deliberately lampshade the the stupid method the movie had them learn ninjutsu.

I'm actually all for Casey having an origin to explain why he's a vigilante and I've advocated using the established origin from Tales of the TMNT and the 4kids series which would be backstory explained and/or shown via flashbacks. Amell's words make it sound like whatever prompts him to pick assorted sports gea....um single hockey stick happens in the movie's present which

I suppose if it was a choice between Casey being the focus character or April I'd choose Casey but still it's annoying the focus isn't on the turtles.

...or April.

I have to admit other than their initial encounter and her being their first connection to the human world I never thought April was that important.

I wouldn't actually mind if there was a movie with no-April. That's unlikely to happen now that we have a 'name' playing her but maybe Megan Fox can call Dave Green Mussolini and Bay will have her written out and bring in Renet played by Rosie Huntington-Whitely.

i was actually hoping that April ran past him, followed closely by the Foot, and thats what prompts him to jump in.

April is actually leading the Foot to the Turtles, meanwhile, Casey thinks she is a damsel distress - it might make for a funny moment. a la some of the comedic beats in the new Nick show.

Yeah, He chases after the Foot Soldier going after April, He then knocks down the Foot Soldier, and sees the Turtles after, Just like in the sets videos we seen.
