And Bay doing the same tricks over and over again is demonstrated so clearly in the RedLetterMedia Half in the Bag video of all three Transformers movies. It is literally the exact same goddamn movie three times. |

I mean, is it ANY surprise at all, that immediately after the last one did SO well in its opening day they announced a sequel, that the producers behind TMNT and other franchises would unanimously say, "Car chases. F*ck it, just car porn everywhere! THAT's how we break a billion dollars." And who can argue? Those movies are the drizzling sh*ts, the epitome of style over substance, and they just make ALL the money. It's no wonder they'd decide to make TMNT all about flashy vehicles and nothing at all to do with, y'know, ninjas. "The Ninja and the Furious" didn't make a billion dollars. Ya dig? |

So... Bay is essentially still a child playing with his toy cars and helicopters and sporadic appearances of his sister's Barbie stripped down to underwear. I totally get it now. He just moved onto the rich manchild version is all. Without needing to ever mature mentally.

Thing is, I want to remain optimistic about this sequel. Parts of the first I loved, and I hope there are more like it in this film BUT... ...when Transformers 1 came out and all the fanboys were enraged, I didn't get it, and thought those guys need to get a life, but now that it's concerning a property I care about, and am emotionally invested in, I totally get it. Someone commented that Bay never strays far from his formula, and it's evident even in his earlier work like Bad Boys. Great movies, but absolutely ridiculous. |

When people think of TMNT, They normally don't think of car chases, But the fact to the matter is, TMNT in all incarnations, Had its share of car chases, Or any vehicles that the Turtle used for transportation around the City.
I'm glad to see a Turtle Van being used as part of an action scene. I wouldn't be surprise if by the 3rd film, We see a version of the Turtle Blimp, If some kind of threat involved them getting in the air. |

But where are they going to keep a blimp?
The cartoons can easily invent a way, but in a setting that supposedly aims for being realistic, uhh...Granted they must already have a large garage we know nothing about. |

I actually heard a great reasoning for Emo-Pete in Spider-man 3 (Thanks Movie Bob). Here's a kid who has never been cool, now under the influence of an alien goo that boosts his confidence, but he still has zero knowledge of how to be cool. It always made the unbearably uncomfortable feeling I got watching that immediately make sense.

I'm sure Pete wasn't very good in bed either, not sure we needed to see that either. it's an over-thought idea, much like the black suit. The comic version was beautiful in it's simplicity. The movie version...no. The symbiote isn't just black dye. kind of stupid. |

I just don't get it. The lizard-man is a monument to mediocrity. He takes no pride in his craft, he craps on his fans - he pretends that his fanbase is 13 year old boys but let's be honest, I've met more adult Bay fans than teen Bay fans so who is he trying to kid here? He doesn't care about what he's doing or who he's making movies for - he makes these movies for himself and shoehorns in the same stuff that gives him a chubster, ad nauseum - so why do people insist on giving him their money? Why do people have goggles on where this dude is concerned? I feel like Bay could literally rock up at someone's house, bang their mother, take a dump in the fridge, puke on their face as an encore and leave... and someone would be like "That was totally Baytastic! He's just light-hearted fun, he's not here to make you think!". I can enjoy watching a sh*tty movie. I can enjoy watching a sh*tty movie that thinks it's good (e.g. Battlefield Earth). What I can't enjoy is the exact same thing being served up over and over with slightly different window-dressing - and that's Bay's M.O. I could eat a can of alphabet soup and literally crap out something more creative than his entire career put together. Yeah, I said it.

look, you can **** all over him for his attitude towards fans, his lack of respect for our nostalgia, and his white male superiority bro-pump vibes, but straight up, the guy is a bloody genius. He understands action in a way very few people do. He understands rhythm better than any other filmmaker of action films out there. He goes big on every set piece, and makes incredible spectacle. AND he's made huge dollars in the process. He made Will Smith, Nicholas Cage, and Dwayne (the big idiot) Johnson action stars. Legitimate action stars. That takes serious talent. Turtles is proof that he is a ****** producer, as are all other films he's only produced. He makes visually stunning movies that have nothing to do with the source material. THAT's his crime. He isn't really that interested in remaking other peoples stuff. from that vantage point, he shouldn't. I hate the first turtles film with a blind rage second only to my impassioned hatred of sport hunters or animal abusers, but even I can see it's not truely BAY who is the problem. it took many people to screw that movie up, and I can say mith almost pure certainty, the writers and designers and the director and the OTHER producers are the most culpable. And here's the kicker. When you meet him in person, he's a really, really really nice guy. He's generous and kind, and almost shy. He most definitely isn't the person you think he is. I wish I could get paid big bucks for doing "eh" work the same way over and over and not care when the performance review constantly says I need to improve; but I'll never have to because they won't kick me out. |

Of course Bay isn't capable of handling faithfully a franchise he didn't create, Transformers or even TMNT. When he was not able to correctly tell the historical events in Pearl Harbour, how can we expect him to tell fictional stories properly without deviating from the source material.

That said, he didn't grow up loving TMNT or TF. It's not his wheel house. They begged him to take the damn job, he did, and it made him rich. I don't know about y'all, but I've had many jobs I didn't love, but I made good money, so I did them. It's part of life sometimes. And honestly, I'm a TMNT fan, through an through. I'd love to make a TMNT film. BUt if some yahoo walked up and said "here's 30 MILLION dollars. I just need you to make a film about My little Pony." Ya, I'd do it, and ya, fans would hate it, because I can't, for the life of me get my head around what the **** is so appealing. I could watch every damned video on the planet, and still come up bupkiss. In the process of making it, I might just add in a few things I like, to make the experience palatable., and that might be exactly the thing to make the pony kids lose their ****, and send death threats. But would I take the money? Wouldn't you? The fact that he made millions, is just a detail. No one forced anyone to buy tickets to these "stupid" films...we did that all on our own. But it sure is fun to make him a villain, but he's the villain you paid very well. |

Ugh, guys, PLEASE leave Meat Loaf out of this. He doesn't deserve to have his music (or videos) dragged into the Bay-bashing morass. Even if the twerp DID direct them.
