Which Version of Hun Do You Prefer?

Introduced first in the 4Kids cartoon, Hun took a little while to catch on. Peter Laird wasn't really impressed with him at first, but the leader of the Purple Dragons eventually earned some respect and was also revealed to have killed Casey Jones' father. He also got reintroduced to TMNT in the IDW comics, now as the alcoholic father of Casey Jones who eventually reclaimed his role as "Hun" and has now been wrecking quite a bit of havoc, both physical and emotional.

So which do you prefer?

(Nick version not included, as that particular Hun is quite removed from the similarities these two versions share. But if you want, feel free to discuss him, too, in the comics.)

I was never a big fan of him until IDW revamped the guy, so they get my vote.

4kids, especially during Season 4 when he became his own boss.

Oh let's see now, I'd say IDW's version because his relationship with Casey is more dynamic with them being father and son. 4Kids Hun is of course the foundation upon which Tom Waltz built, and in fairness the onlything that seperates IDW Hun from 4Kids Hun is that he is Casey's father and the alcoholism (which wasn't in the 4Kids series for obvious reasons). But those little differences sell me on him.

4Kids Hun is by no means a bad character, unlike Bebop, Rocksteady and Krang in the FW cartoon, there were reasons to bring him back in the modern era other than misplaced nostalgia. It's very much a twisted underdog/loyalty story going on with him and it's pretty awesome for a kids' show. Seeing this guy go from a small gang leader to Shredder's right hand to one of the greatest crime bosses in the city is neat development. Sadly, it was still a kids' show and he couldn't be shown being as dispicable as IDW Hun. And then there was the MMO episode... I don't know about that episode, Hun doesn't really seem in character when it came to that episode...

As for the Huns not mentioned yet, Nick Hun being designed after Bruce Lee does not really bother me because aside from the Bruce Lee quirks he does seem to be written much like 4Kids Hun, so he's still Hun on the inside, where it counts. Not like Rahzar, the Punk Frogs, Mutagen Man or Bebop who the writers treated like they were blank slates, Hun at least kept his old personality.

Mirage Hun... I know nothing about, from what I understand he's basically just 4Kids Hun except more evil.

Since Nick Hun isn't a part of the poll, IDW Hun gets my vote. Off the two options he is a far more interesting and fleshed out character.

IDW Hun is the best.

Don't know much about Nick Hun yet, but 2k3 Hun is definitely the worst.

I voted 4kids cause I like Hun to be a big/brutal guy, who is loyal to shredder like a dog

AND I hate the idea from IDW of him being caseys dad.

Why though? It added more tension and drama.

I voted for the 2K3 version, because of his arc from small-time thug and Shredder lackey to Mob boss, and his unexpected aid in the MMO episode was neat. I liked his rivalry with Casey, and it never felt forced or fake like it did in IDW after Hun chose Shredder and the Foot over his own kid even after he had PROMISED to take care of him and be a better dad. That really pissed me off.

Drunkard fathers always make poor life choices from what I've seen..

And he chose power and influence over his own family/son, that's pretty plausible. Not everyone are righteous people. And he is a villain so it's in character imo.

I voted 4kids Hun for a single reason. I thought Hun was pretty bland character initially, loved his art design though. But what made hime a great character imo is the fact he gave Casey a reason to fight and become a vigilante. Having Hun kill Casey's father was a stroke of genius for the writers.
I feel like thats the one thing missing from Casey in every incarnation except from the 4kids series.

I'll give you the Nick series, we don't quite know his motivation beyond "Hell yeah, it's cool/fun to beat up jerks after school!" but otherwise it's pretty much a matter of him being absolutely sick to death of how sh*tty society is & taking a stand against it. All that TV, living in a city that was at the time just totally run down with pimps, hustlers, etc, I can completely understand being broken by it & exacting revenge when you've more or less got nothing to lose. Casey's like Travis Bickle, from Taxi Driver.

I was going to vote for IDW version of Hun if not for Turtles Forever. The idea a long term human enemy actually turning into a mutated Turtle is pretty cool concept. Wish we got anther season so that could be explored further. There is some pretty good story potential there hopefully one day IDW or Nick takes the concept and does something with it. It would be great to see an Evil Turtle not suck ass. Well besides the Archie Slash he rocked.

The IDW version of Hun confuses me a bit... There are times when the book wants you to sympathize with him, especially earlier on, and then he goes out and beats the tar out of his own son.
