It's a parade. Who's really going to assume they've just discovered a mutant freak of nature? I think you'd have to get pretty close to a ninja turtle in a parade to think, "I'm surrounded by costumes and silliness, but I bet this human-sized turtle is a thing that really exists."

It's 75-year-old thing that people would never let change. But he changes his entire demeanor, nowadays. The way he speaks and carries himself. Clark Kent, himself, is an act. One so convincing that people routinely say, "You know who Clark Kent looks like..? Haha, not that guy. I'm an idiot."

Also, his shell is sooo low, now.

I mean... there's a certain amount of suspending disbelief needed here. But among people in papier-mache and rubber masks, a giant turtle with actual flesh and a naturally-moving, inhuman face would still stand out.

A couple things;

It seems to be dark (night) during this scene, and there's a lot going on all around.

When one is surrounded by people in elaborate costumes, during a parade, at night, with little lighting, it would be far from the most obvious of assumptions to believe what one is standing in front of is an actual mutant ninja turtle, rather than just a really well made costume.

Michelangelo might still stand out, but not as an actual mutant ninja turtle, but rather a really well done costume.

A really well done costume is a much nearer possibility than an actual mutant ninja turtle.

it will depends how the story handles it...if h is at a distance then sure maybe, but if he is up close to random people even at night its hard to swallow anyone wouldn't notice

The amount of reaching the apologists will do to justify horrendous designs and awful ideas never ceases to amaze me.

I swear to Christ, if Mikey goes up to a kid and goes, "Chill, it's just a mask," I'll walk out of the theatre.

Well, "Pirates of the Caribbean" took the same handful of "jokes" and recycled them into a series that's 5 or 6 movies deep, so who's stoppin' 'em?

So if you saw this walking down the street in the middle of a parade, you'd believe it's real? Really? That's pretty freakin' gullible of you.

that logic doesnt apply to real world since its a character we know exisits withen a fantasy realm

youd be better off asking if you saw a real gorilla walking down your street would you assume its a costume

the turtles exist in their film verse....to claim one second they want realism they go cartoon logic is bass akwards

Then pretend it's not a character we know exists within a fantasy realm, point still stands. I'm referring to the level of realism in the costume and makeup, not the character itself.

Those are real physical props & makeup. People see enough of that kinda thing in films & real life to know the difference when they see it. The turtles are CGI, CGI you are supposed to believe is 100% lifelike. You have no argument. You're just being an apologist.

It's so sad when all they have to do is say "what a dumb idea, that probably won't be any good" and move on.

What can I say. Some of them choose to be wrong all the time.

The two posted pictures are just as close to looking "lifelike" as a mutant turtle would look, especially given the context of the situation; parade, night, lots of surrounding people in costumes, etc.

Listen, I hated TMNT 2014 as much as the next guy, but this parade scene should be the least of our worries. Nobody over the age of like 10 would jump to the conclusion that this mutant turtle is real and not a costume.

Honestly, I could see it going either way - both in entertainment factor and believability.
Thing is, nobody is really willing to give Platinum Dunes the benefit of the doubt at this point. They haven't earned it.

Heh heh heh heh.

Instead they'll spend page after page arguing with, like, ME on why it's actually a good idea to drop a Ninja Turtle in the middle of a huge parade and have everybody NOT realize exactly what he is.

Keep to the shadows, be completely unseen. Nah f*ck that Transformers in-jokes and probably other sh*tty jokes!

That's what the fans really want to see!

I've got a pretty cool idea to avoid this situation: don't go to see this in the theatre.
