Well that was another slow, dull 4 pages. Ready for this mini to be over.

Looks like this issue might start to turn me around on this mini-series. Hopefully this issue does pick up the pace.

Rat King and the maze? Promising.

But April and her identity crisis... mmm. Eh. We'll see.

I appreciate the irony of a maze. Lab rats forced to work their ways through a maze and then the bit with Rat King. Rat King is making this miniseries worthwhile.

Hope you are in or some retro Bat reading, CKD.

Ooooooooooooh, I didn't pick up on that! Good point!

And if I can find 'em, ya never know...

The best thing about this issue? Only one more left to go before it's thankfully over.

That's... it!?

Holy crap, this is the most useless story ever. How do you take characters like Rat King, April, Casey, and the Pantheon and make it boring!?

You can literally just take the last page of each issue, read that, and get the full story. That's truly it.

I've often said IDW can do no wrong. I've gotta take it back. This is wrong.

I still have full faith in the main ongoing story, and I've loved every other story. But this is the first black mark against IDW TMNT. A godawful boring story that should be balls-to-the-walls fantastic.

Edit: No matter how better the fourth issue may be, there is no making up for the epic wasted potential of this series.

Definitely a lot of weird padding here. Whole panels are used just for the characters to say like one line or calling out to each other. Some of the panels take up the whole page, as if this was meant to be a 2-part story that got stretched out to a 4 issue one.

I liked some of the introspective look on the characters personalities but it didn't seem as well done as it could of.

There is nothing new getting added to the characters. Okay, maybe a slight bit for April.

But Casey? We already know PLENTY about his background after 50 issues (plus the micro-series and mini-series). This story has added nothing.

I don't get how you feature Rat King only to have him eat barbeque. That'd be like having Agent Bishop in a story arc, only to ever see him eat sushi while watching the Turtles on his monitor. (Mmmm... sushi.)

Where is the violence and mind-f*ckery!?

So basically to summarize:

One time April was doing a report on birds, but felt like she was putting too much work into it and her dad told her not give up. The End.

Oh, and Rat King still likes barbeque.
More specifically short-ribs.

And "Red" only appears in one or two panels. I came here for the Pantheon, gosh darn it!

How come Utrom Empire with its rich setting was only three issues long, yet this snoozefest gets four?

I would have put Spoiler tags, but that didn't seem appropriate and there isn't a "I Just Saved Your Ass $3.99" tag.

It's amazing when you realize, of the three issues released so far, THIS one has the least story content yet.

Utrom Empire... damn, I'd completely forgotten about that. Three badass issues versus four coma-inducing issues. Seriously, by the time we read Issue #4, we're not gonna be amazed by any Pantheon secrets revealed. Instead, (and rightly so), we'll be astonished that we had to put up with so much BS to get what will probably amount to one page's worth of useful intel.

But hey, if we set a mousetrap for Rat King, we at least now know to bait it with BBQ.

I don't know who this "target audience" is they're trying to appeal to, but I imagine they look like this.

I was going to post some sort of BBQ meme in honor of the Rat King's choice of nibbles but I couldn't make up my mind, they all look so delicious.
