The point has always been that the turtles take old outdated slang & make it hip again. Cowabunga came from the 60's, dog.

It'd be stupid as hell if the turtles were saying current sh*t, it'd get dated really quick, & be mad cringe-worthy.

I'm thankful we don't have Mikey going on about his swag & whatever idiotic catch-phrase teens use nowadays. It's bad enough I have to see shirts where Leo takes a "shellfie"...
