Of course, the writers could have put her in the Turtles in Time episodes had they wanted to and were really as April obsessed as this forum makes them out to be. But they didn't.
This is a seriously lower amount of focus than she had throughout most of seasons 1 and 2. Heck, the Kraang didn't even bother trying to capture her or anything in the season 2 finale, because they either collected enough of her DNA already or had worked around her need in the mutagen perfection.
I do like April's character fairly well, but I'm glad she's not the center of the universe anymore.

Ah, I see. Your original post made it sound as if she wasn't in that one at all. Actually, I think they didn't use her in the time-travel episodes because she wasn't necessary for the plot, and they didn't want to spend time or money on character models that served no purpose. She tends to take a back seat in most episodes lately unless there is some point to her being there. She was in most of the Northhampton episodes because she was part of the plots of those episodes in some way, even if only marginally. Once they returned to the city and got rid of the Kraang, however, she was no longer as important to any of the plots, so they parked her off-screen. Makes perfect sense to me. No reason to take up screen time with a character who isn't serving any purpose in the story.

I really don't think the writers are as obsessed with her character as some seem to think, they have just been trying to find ways to use her so that she's not just "there". In earlier versions, she's always had some way of helping the turtles, whether as a reporter getting the latest intel on bad guys, or in a techie support role. This April doesn't have those abilities to contribute, so they've made her important in other ways- mostly with the Kraang and Donnie's crush. Now that both are mostly played out, she probably won't be around as much, and Casey might start to take a larger role. That's just a hunch, though.

Yes, it's believable6. Usagi was only supposed to have been like 5'0 tall anyway. I've worked with junior high kids here. Usagi looks as average as the kids I dealt with.

If she is being paid for this piece by Nickelodeon Studios then you bet your sweet butt it's not fan art. It could be for any number of projects or nothing at all, but it's not fan art. If the people who make the thing give you money to help make the thing, it's not a fan work, no matter how much of a fan you are.

Now if she'd done this just for S&G, that's fan art. Or if she were doing something like Sophie Campbell's Secret of the Ooze webcomic. Sophie gets paid to draw Turtles, but she's not getting paid to draw Turtles in that instance. That makes that a fan comic.

If people get confused by calling it an official piece regardless of its status with The April O'Neil Files, then that's their problem. They lack a basic reading/comprehension skill and I hope they get help for that.

She said it was a request, & I'd say it's fair to assume that requests fall under "S&G" which would mean it's still fan art. Nick's definitely not paying for anything that isn't being used.

Guys you do realise this is only a pilot and won't be shown to the public (unless it gets leaked), it's only just a test to see if Nick will like it or not. The show might not even happen.

Good Point there. Sort of a relief but I'd still love a rise of Oroku Saki and Karai spin off if ever they were to do one.

April is already sexualized in the series with tons of butt shots, so what difference does it make? At least this isn't anime or else you would have locker room scenes of April undressing or panty shots or April lifting up her shirt.

Seriously, the way you people complain about cartoons it makes me realize you guys have no idea what goes on in Japanese anime that's aimed at kids the same way Nick's TMNT show is.

You don't watch much cartoons/anime, do you? Teenage girls are sexualized in superhero cartoons and anime all the time.
