Wyrm's episode is recycled from Super Robot Monkey Team
All-powerful space genie? Check. He can only be released with three wishes? Check. Ciro Nieli is behind both shows? Check. ![]() What do you think? |

![]() It's likely purposeful, though, like Technogeek29 suggests. The show is riddled with references, after all. |

I think "Q" from Star Trek did the same thing long before this cartoon. I am sure it was done before that as well.

Yeah, I really figured this was Ciro Nieli playing tribute once again to his older show.
![]() I'd love to see him do a reboot, if Disney cared enough about their more obscure properties. |

Reboot? Heck no, first we need to get a proper season finale for that show!

eh.... they just grabbed an old toy character (I know he was in the Archie comics too, but his coloring is based on the Playmates toy) and turned him into Mr. Mxlptlk for whatever reason. Its..... stupid. Just make up your own 5th Dimension character. They have no business giving those powers to Wyrm than they do to Ace Duck or Groundchuck.

They don't need to make up their own character. Ninja Turtles already has a Mister Mxyzptlk in the form of Mister Ogg.

Isn't Mr. Ogg a rather unpopular character?

Yes, I was thinking Mr. Ogg was the best answer to preexisting characters and I personally do not like Mr. Ogg and his penchant for turning buildings, weapons, etc. into desert or fruit. Making it melt or crumble sure, but turning into food? Too silly. Ogg fits this concept much better than Wyrm, who could sap energy from the turtles and have to force the turtles to find a ritual to renew the life force of a turtle. Wyrm could be a darker mutant of the week. His character is better served that way. I never would have thought of him as a space genie. I understand what was done with Pizzaface who never actually appeared in anything, but Wyrm had three stories in Archie going along with his action figure albeit it looks different from his Archie Comics counterpart. I am also more partial to his comic book design over his odd looking toy design.

In fact, Prof Pyg had no business being in that cartoon show... he was so different that it wasn't worth bothering putting him in there, but the character is so dark and gorey he shouldn't have been in a kids cartoon in the first place.

You're blowing this out of proportion. Wyrm is a nobody, & I say that as a huge fan of his design/toy. Your points are completely absurd in this context. We're not talking about Shredder or Savanti Romero here, it's a throwaway grunt from the toyline. There's no wrong way to reinvent someone who basically has no claim to fame whatsoever. If anything, given his wacky appearance, this is a far more suiting path to take than that of Archie's comics, which is what I would assume you want them to stick to... but even there, that version of him is nothing like the toy they took inspiration from. So it's a moot point.

Came to post David Wise but got beaten.
Batman villains totally changing is a bad example as they've reinvented terrible villains into awesome ones. Mr. Ogg is awesome, I'd love to see him come back in this show. And for anyone who hates him would you really say Spyderbites is a better character? At least Mr. Ogg is meant to be obnoxious. |

I'm just saying, it's a very weird and very odd choice. Hell, Wyrm already could have been The Creep, already shown earlier (either that or Bloodsucker). They should have just went with an all-new character.

That's probably exactly what they did, but I don't see the problem with it. For most fans, myself included, it's great to see an under-represented or unused character get their fair due. I enjoy when they create new characters, but I also appreciate that they aren't trying to muddy the waters. They do it when they feel it's benefiting the story. There is a corporate agenda, mind you, they have to help sell toys. & the best kinda toys are the ones that appeal to both kids AND adults, which is what reinvented figures do best. "Hey, I remember that guy, I had him! Sure, we'll buy you that one, little Timmy." I'm down with that. If someone's gonna be a flash in the pan, it's a lot easier to get into it when they're a familiar face. Instead of "Aw, it's just another random monster episode..." people say "Oh wow, they brought _____ back!", you dig? That's smart.

Its also not much different than Mona Lisa now being part of an alien newt race rather than just being a teenage girl who turned into a salamander.
