Ah, so this did happen. That's really nice of Disney and Lucasfilm

Cue the poor guy probably being bombarded with spoiler requests until he dies

Got my tickets for this last night. Going on the 17th and I am so hyped. Would've loved the midnight showing but with a 3 year old and 5 month old (and the friend I'm going with has a 7 month old) it just wasn't feasible.

Come to think of it I probably won't see the movie till January. Theaters will be packed all throughout December, I'm not sure if its worth it.

As much as I love Star Wars I think I can wait a few weeks.

I went on opening night for Episodes II and III, but that was before the days when it was like getting WrestleMania tickets and you were screwed if you didn't order them online a year in advance. My wife and I would love to go but I have a feeling we'll get shut out of opening night. Might have to settle for going on a Sunday morning when nobody's there or something.

My preorder tickets are for a Sunday morning and all assigned seating was almost full, so you might be assed out for that time, too.

Probably! F***in' nerds!

Nah it's fine, we'll go eventually. I don't get sucked into the whole "I HAVE to go opening night" thing anymore. It's fun and all, but a week or two later it's still the exact same movie, minus all the traffic, and my wife hates being around tons of people anyway so it's worth it to go when there's less people, not to hear her groan every time someone's kid starts getting rowdy or whatever. I've had the jam-packed opening night experience and the empty theater experience many times apiece and honestly have more fun at the latter than the former a lot of the time. A tiny part of me just wanted to keep the SW midnight showing streak alive since I made it happen for the last two, but you gotta let things go sometimes.

Just remember all this if I have trouble scoring tickets to the midnight opening of BvS. That one I care about.

I just wish SW wasn't coming out in December, I usually see any SW movie about 3 times in theaters but I'm gonna have way too much money tied up in Christmas to do that. That's kind of a bummer.

I probably won't see it till January, I only hope I can avoid spoilers on the internet about the movie until then.

Even if you avoid all Star Wars discussion on the internet, you KNOW there's going to be some random asshole who blurts out a huge plot point or spoiler of the film in some unrelated topic, and that'll just screw you over. I mean its bound to happen somewhere.

I go on a lot of forums outside this one so i don't know if I'll be safe. Definitely avoiding youtube at all costs because the comment section will be filled with spoilers on unrelated videos.

I don't care about spoilers. I knew almost every word of II and III months in advance and still loved the movies. Back then I was a lot more obsessive about Star Wars than I am now and found one of those sites that had leaked versions of the scripts and all that. II turned out to be legit almost word-for-word to the final film, but the one they got for III was like 80%, the entire third act was different or fake or whatever but the rest was the same as the movie turned out to be.

So in both cases I knew almost the entire movie like 6 months in advance but it didn't ruin anything for me. It was more like, "Wow, that sounds neat, I wonder how that's going to look?" or "That's gonna be a huge moment, I can't wait for that." I think maybe that's why I like the movies more than most people, too: I knew what I was going to get and walked away satisfied with it because it exceeded MY expectations based on what I already knew. Other people went in with a lot of hopes and were pissed the movies weren't like the ones they made up in their head. It's hard to be let down when you know what to expect.

Frankly, I hate surprises. I really don't like them at all. I'd rather get something I wanted or specifically asked for, or otherwise, at least to know what to expect, exactly so I'm NOT disappointed or let down by anything. My wife and I are different in this way; she loves surprises and avoids all movie spoilers, but she'll also get mad when it's not what she wanted it to be, and I'm like, "Well I could've told you that was going to happen, then you wouldn't be so cranky about it."

I'unno. Different strokes I guess. I've just noticed that if you're never surprised you're also rarely disappointed. Something to chew on, at any rate. But I personally love spoilers. I haven't really gone after any for this one, though, and I really don't know why. But I wouldn't be mad if I did have it spoiled.

Thing is, even with only six weeks to go, there's been barely anything leaked about the film, and the plot as a whole. The team have done an excellent job keeping most things under their hats!

I don't do midnight showings, but wanted to here for two main reasons: I don't have to worry about dodging spoilers afterwards (just have to worry about anything coming out of France a few hours before!), and the distinct lack of kids that will be present!

I'm kinda like that, too, except I'm more okay with TV spoilers than I am with movie spoilers. TV shows stretch out over the year, so I think it's nice to know what's going to happen so I can get hyped for it.

Movies are different, though. If it's a movie I'm VERY excited for, I like going in blind. Sometimes I'll whip out my phone in the middle of the movie, look up spoilers, and see what's about to happen. Also, if it's a movie that I think is going to suck, I like going in blind with that as well (Transformers 4, TMNT.). I looked up everything I could for Spider-Man 2, Godzilla, Age of Ultron, Jurassic World, but now I'm going in blind for Star Wars: The Force Awakens because of the trailers. They're hiding something in those movies, and I have my speculations of what, but I legitimately want to be surprised for this one. What I mean by that is that I don't want to hear any monumental things. I don't mind hearing the general basis of the plot, and hearing, "two major characters die," but if you tell me WHICH major characters die, then I'll be mad.

I was under the impression that pretty much everything about the movie is revealed except for Luke's role. I've been treading very carefully because of that. I even stir away from discussions of the film since I know there's spoilers going around already.

I looked up all the spoilers I could for Episode II before I saw it and the movie was still entertaining and had enough surprises to me to see how it all played out but I realized that it was much more fun to see a movie spoiler free and I've kept spoiler free for most movies since then, I just enjoy movies a lot more like that. For Jurassic World I met plenty of people who said they don't enjoy watching movies without spoilers since they will feel let down, sorry but that is the most retarded logic I've ever heard. I can understand being so hyped that you want to know everything as soon as possible but that the movie is literally not enjoyable anymore because you don't know what's going to happen beforehand is just...

I wish it wasn't coming out in December either, to me SW has always been a Summer movie, it almost feels weird that the weather will be cold while I'm all hyped on on SW instead of hot like it was as a kid. You'll also need to reserve tickets for BvS if you want to watch it opening night.

You are probably out of luck for the midnight show but that depends on where you live and how many movie theaters there are but really it wasn't that difficult. I waited three days or so after they went on sale and still got the cinema that I wanted with decent seats. There were plenty in other smaller cinemas as well. Pre-ordering tickets isn't that difficult, it took me 5 minutes, why wait for the day of release? I guess if you want to just be able to buy a ticket then wait a month to go see it and even then you'll get crappy seats since the people who buy tickets before quickly on an app will get to choose their seats before you do.

Just watch the movie, there'll definitely be some spoilers that you can't miss. For example I've kept spoiler free for the MarvelCU without problems since I avoid those threads but when there's something really big it still makes it out to other threads in this case I found out that in AoU
Spoiler:
Pietro dies
Which I didn't want to know but oh well, I don't plan on watching any Marvel stuff for a long time so. So yeah I think a few big plots from the movie will definitely be all over, you'll be safe for the first week or so but after that it'll get more difficult.

You've wasted how much time posting on a message board about this movie and yet not watch it for a month? I understand people who can wait but not people who are big enough fans to talk about the movie months before the movie and then not watch it while it's still relatively new in theaters.

I'm a Star Wars fan, but not a huge Star Wars fan. I rarely read any of the comics/novels, and I only play a small handful of the games.

Star Wars is something I would have really liked if I didn't already have too many fandoms. You can't be a big fan of everything. I have TMNT as my #1 fandom so I watch all the cartoons and read all the comics, so everything else moves down a notch.

Right?

But nah, it comes from growing up living a life of absolute chaos and uncertainty. For the first 20-odd years of my life everything was constantly unpredictable and never in a good way. There was never any stability or comfort in my life, just constant anxiety about what the next big "surprise" was going to be, from "Mom's in jail again" to "Well, we're homeless." And any number of other things. "Surprise! I know you just got home from school, but it's time to pick which parent you're gonna live with!" And on and on.

So, I don't like any surprises, in anything. Surprises mean I'm not in control of a situation, and I can't handle that. If you give me something I specifically did not ask for, even if it's something thoughtful, I can appreciate it, even enjoy it, but I'd still prefer you simply did as I asked. People ask me, "Where's the fun in that?" I reply, "The 'fun' is in, I got exactly what I wanted and nobody tried to over-complicate anything."

So I guess it's kind of a PTSD thing. I just want things "safe" and uncomplicated. Real life has enough unexpected shake-ups and twists, I watch movies to relax, and if something's going to piss me off I'd rather just avoid it or watch it eventually when I'm in the mood to. Especially with how expensive movies are now, I'm not spending money on a gamble, and maybe have to listen to the wife whine on the way home about this or that being wrong with the movie. I pretty much need to know in advance if something is a must-see in theaters kind of thing or something to wait for DVD.

I get why some people would prefer to be surprised but frankly I've had more than my share and I'm long since over it. Spoil me, please. I like knowing how cold the water is before I jump in.

I don't mind knowing the general plot, but I don't want to know the climax of the movie, or what Luke's role is considering they've purposely excluded him from all promotional material and trailers.

Can you guys believe there are people online who ship Rey and Finn already? Shippers are already at it pairing the two leads together.

For me it depends. Sometimes I'm fine only having a vague idea and sometimes I'd rather know everything I can well in advance. Like with this one, I'm fine with only vague spoilers, but with any kind of Superman or Batman movie I have to know everything.

Come to think of it, I think this all actually started when I saw "Batman Forever" in theaters and wished to God someone had warned me in advance. That's about the time I started actively looking for movie spoilers, before that I didn't care.

You and your shipping obsession. Oh you.
