Judging by the trailer(s), what occurred in the prequels has become folklore and legends. Hence Han's line, "It's true. All of it."

Pick out the important stuff like The Force (minus the Midi-chlorians) and that's it, right?

even the stuff that happened in the OT became folklore and legends too.

Sure, but all of that was established as backstory/legends in the original trilogy. Prequel-specific stuff like the Chosen One, the name Sith (Han specifically says "the Dark Side" instead), the political stuff and imagery from the prequels -- unless I've missed something, all of that seems pretty absent.

Granted, it'd all be 50+ years old and irrelevant by that point in the plot, but still. This movie seems to have a laser-focus on the original trilogy as a point of reference.

I just got done watching the entire Clone Wars series on netflix. I will start watching the movies again soon to get ready. I will probably watch ROTJ right before I got to the theater that night.

I didn't either. Assuming the blue lightsaber is the spoiler.

Well it kinda sorta confirms that Finn isn't the Jedi in the films going forward and he's the one dead in the snow in the trailer.

Rey cries. Grabs the lightsaber he had been using. Bing bang boom.

I didn't click the spoiler so I have no idea if this is true or not, but Rey becoming a Jedi at some point should be a fairly logical conclusion?

I assumed it would be like Luke, where Rey would hear about Jedi's in the first films and then train to become a Jedi in the second and third films. I wouldn't be surprised if Luke is the "Yoda" of these films and he trains Rey herself.

Spoiler:
Oh, I thought her being a Jedi/Force Sensitive was kinda given.

I guess due to the Prequels, desert robes are standard issue Jedi clothes.

I think its more that it kinda means Finn is getting killed.

Which is super disappointing for me if thats the case.

Spoiler:
I doubt Finn's getting killed. I really do. He's confirmed for Episode 8 since they said they're screentesting people with him. However, if I had to pick one of the new leads (Finn, Poe, Rey) to go, I'd pick him. His arc would come full circle if Kylo Ren killed him. However, I hope he lives.

But Rey being the Jedi doesn't come as a surprise. I'm excited that we have a female lead.

I don't think we need to worry about any of the new leads getting killed in Episode VII. If anyone bites it it'll be one of the original trio.

Spoiler:
Finn could just be badly injured, leading Rey to take the lightsaber from him and fight Ren, and revealing her Force potential. Literally the Force awakening in her.

I'd be pretty amused, after so much speculation about which of the heroes will die, if none of them do.

Spoiler:
I'm willing to bet that an original character will die. But yeah, Finn's fight with Ren is going to be interesting, but Rey's is going to be even better. I'd love it if they had Rey channel a bit of the Dark Side to fight Kylo. But if they're related like everyone thinks, she won't need to.

I actually still think that's Han. Kylo wounds Han, Finn holds Kylo off while Rey says goodbye to Han, and when Kylo is about to kill Finn, Rey jumps in and gives it everything she's got against Kylo.

Agreed. People also forget Star Wars is aimed at children as well as adults, no way will they kill off any of the main cast especially in the first new movie. I don't even think Han Solo will die even if he's in Episode 8-9 too.

I was with ya until Han Solo. I think that if any original member is going to bite the dust, it's going to be him. However, J.J. knows that fans will be pissed if his death isn't done right, so it'll be a good death if he dies.

Finn, Poe, and Rey? I'd say they're safe until Episode 9. Remember, these are our new leads. I think that characters like Phasma(read my spoilers tag right now before you say something), Kylo, and the Admiral dude have the biggest chance of dying. Remember, Star Wars BARELY touches their major characters. The only big ones out of 6 movies (excluding antagonists) were Qui-Gon, Padme, and Obi-Wan. They never touched characters like Luke, Leia, Chewie, Han, Lando, etc.
Spoiler:
Yes, I know Phasma lives.
