Turtles look like more of the same, but I'm definitely excited about some new Bebop and Rocksteady figures.

BB & RS look awesome, Huge improvements for the turtles, Splinter whatever, Shredder and foot soldiers look great especially compared, and Krang and Casey look great to me. I am glad we finally get a villan vehicle and playset. No complaints from me.

I guess it's just acceptance that Playmates will suck and very low expectations.

The lack of detail, screen accurate detail, lack of paints, just a great big "Bleh".
You 2 been playing too much with your Hot Toys?
And are you seriously comparing Hot Toys to a $8.99 toy?

Nope. Never mentioned Hot Toys at all. But there's no effort here at all.

Hell other toy companies don't skimp on paint and detail as much as Playmates does.

And it's a shame.... especially when you look back at the care they showed in the 80s.

Now we get poor sculpts, massive areas of some figures unpainted, very few paint colors used, and so on. It's sad.

Playmates definitely is bottom-of-the-barrel with mainstream commercial toys. The only toys worse than theirs are Dollar Tree junk.

Also where the eff are you buying these for $8.99 because I've never seen them lower than $9.99 unless on sale.

The basic line has always had good sculpts..... only thing bad were the paint and articulation. With the exception for Nickelodeon Atilla the frog but i wonder how much of that was due to character design?

You seem to have extremely high taste, how much do you think you're paying for these anyway?

Enough to were figures shouldn't have unpainted fot and wrist wraps, teeth, and pants. I mean they couldn't even get Fugitiod correct because they hade to add unnecessary yellow and black stripes and black to the front of his goggle like eye piece. They didn't even give us good collectors figures and that they skimped on paint on re release 1988 figures. The company is incompetent.

Sorry but no. The basic line has mediocre sculpts at best. And the lack of paint doesn't help.

Almost every other toy company delivers much better stuff at comparable prices.

Roughly $10.00 for a toy that is subpar at best... is just not reasonable.

Exactly. I think people have just started to accept it rather than demand better.

It almost feels like it's an "It's Turtles so I just have to accept and buy it." mindset.

Like what?
Hasbro? Marvel Legends?

Hasbro is even worse, they reuse sculpts and paint is often missing and they're like $19.99

Hasbro's awesome by comparison. They do eons better toys than Playmates in all areas.

Yes there is some part reuse when appropriate. But that's to keep prices down. And it's a heck of a lot better than what Playmates manages to deliver. Since they actually put some effort and often retool and repaint those part reuses.

And yeah, $19.99 for a 6" figure with full articulation and tons of paint details. As well as accessories and a Build-A-Figure feature in Marvel Legends. So they're nothing like the sad effort that Playmates delivers every day.

And their 6" Star Wars stuff is even better. Including the use of soft goods.

Marvel Legends and Star Wars Black Series are also Collector's Figures.

Playmates was even incompetent trying to produce something like that.

Can't compare to Marvel Legends,
at Playmatess' price point, you're looking at Marvel Universe figures.

That's right, those 3 3/4 inch tiny figures with 5 points of articulation.
I'd give Playmates my money any day over Marvel Universe...... except for Atilla the Frog..... and those god awful mystic bad turtles.

You're the one who tossed out the $19.99 price point. That's Marvel Legends.

And Marvel Universe/Marvel Infinite is 4" and has way more than 5 points of articulation in most figures. You're talking about the movie lines. You're twisting the facts to try to validate your point with both the price point and PoA you're stating.

Two of the awesome figures in my large collection of Marvel Universe figures.
