Fair enough, but I meant who couldn't you mourn?

All I can say is, anyone who thinks mocking the death of someone famous or silencing others who only watched or listened to that person shouldn't say anything to silence anyone. With every celebrity, we often get a smile out of them; whether the beauty of music or their filmography these actors leave an impression on you. Sure, some may not be the greatest of human beings but we at least can respect the dead celebrities or simply offer our condolences before moving on. To anyone that says we can't, well too bad because they still meant a lot to us. That's ultimately how I feel in general about the dead, respect their influence or offer condolences, not poke fun at how how we feel about them.

Common Core in education is my gear grinder, enough said. Just a lousy excuse of cramming in material not required for how we move on in life. Off the drome, I have mentioned this to a few of you and my friends, but why do we need such things that we don't care for. The only things to me that matter are technology as it's gaining further usage, health to take care of ourselves, a second language in addition to further English writing, mathematics for finances and whatever we want to do as a career.

"Duh, let's just give them history, science and anything else that would be of help!" If I were to be a politic, something in the science field, or a teacher then I understand I would need to take these courses. However, if my career were say to be an athlete, how would these help exactly? It just drags everything down outside a college degree.

Are you talking about school or tertiary education? If your talking about school, I don't agree with you. You need a grounding in those subjects to better understand the world you live in if nothing else, but also to be able to determine what kind of career you want to pursue in the first place. Very few people know what they want out of life when they're 12.

I don't have any kids, and it's been close to 20 years since I was in high school, so I'm not an expert.

People were sh*tting up a thread about Alan Rickman. I asked them to stop and someone got really angry. Even made a thread about Céline Dion's dead husband as a parody.

Sometimes I really think humans have peaked as a species and brains are starting to rot.

There is some truth to that. I read an article a while back in National Geographic that discussed human intelligence in the tech age and how there was evidence that humans are losing brain mass due to the ease of living and access to advanced technology in many countries. Basically it was saying that our high-tech, internet-based lifestyle and modern conveniences like self-driving cars is dulling our brains and making us dumber as a species. Our brains have begun to shrink....

*sigh* Someday the worlds of "Idiocracy" or "WALL*E" will be real.

Depending on if we maintain enough intelligence to get off of the planet before we ruin it, or if stupidity beats us and keeps us grounded.

Serious question, out of curiosity and not being mean, and feel free to not answer it if I'm being too nosy. Are you plus-sized, or just tired of other people being made fun of?

I know I could stand to lose some pounds, but at least I have the "fat people are funny" stereotype to bolster my self-esteem.

*Facepalm*

Pretty sure she was just referring to the premise of why they left Earth, not what they ended up like after 8 generations on the ship. There's no making fun of plus-sized people there. Just a social commentary on the state of the planet when they left it.

Uh yeah, clearly the reference was still in regard to matters of the mind, that being the idiots of one film or the entirely zone out and disconnected of another.

But hey, if we want to take it off in unrelated directions, maybe I was making fun of their uniform choice of color, too. I mean red... who does that.

Grind... mouth still sore from dental work two days ago, and with a temporary crown I have to be careful what I'm eating. So a bit grouchy over that. (Don't need to be starting any stupid stuff for stupid reasons...)

That's not what this is by any stretch of the imagination, you now. He loves pizza so much that he wants to stuff himself to an unhealthy extent. Das it.

If that's how you wish to self-identify, that's your business, but there are others who would find the term insulting.

To me, the distinction falls to whether or not the person in question is engaged in any attempts at self-improvement.

Someone who struggles to lose weight, but makes every attempt to eat right and be active, and makes their health a priority (wanting to change for more than just vanity-based reasons, obviously)... they're merely an overweight individual.

On the other hand, someone who thinks pastries are a meal and refuses to join a gym if it costs more than $10 a month, or refuses to engage in anything more physical than sitting on a stationary bike reading a magazine while complaining that they "can't" get healthy when in truth they're not even trying... the "fat f*ck" label can be reasonably applied in those cases.

Like, one of my Dad's friends was about 450. All he did was sit around watching TV and smoking crack. That's a fat f*ck, sorry.

Sounds more like he was too fat to f*ck.

Oh, GOD. His bimbo crackhead girlfriend lived with us as well, and I only WISH you were correct. Alas, thanks to the place being a sh*thole with paper-thin walls, combined with them both being habitual over-sharers, I can confirm that somehow they made it work. I guess crack is like Viagra for fat people or some sh*t.
