Hmmm....

Idk, judging from the reaction online, most people are really excited now. The trailer did it's job.
Now, they need to sit on their hands for at least a few months. Just release fun tie-in stuff, build the world, keep the hype alive.
I'll say this much, between Gadot and Robbie, DC's got a lock on the hotness. Marvel can't touch that right now.

I mean...jesus...

I really can't get over how on point the logo design and marketing art direction is. Surgical.

What is wrong with a slightly tweaked version of this? What does it matter of 'how sexy it is'.

Yes, but all of the marketing dweebs just went with her latest look, which was designed by horny 14-yo's.

While I get that they want to make her "sexier", I don't know why they don't go with the Arkham City look. That was pretty good IMO; still looked like Harley Quinn, just as a biker instead of a harlequin. Still somewhat true to her original look... not ripped t-shirt, cotton-candy hair, and... I don't even know what to call those shorts. Panty-shorts? Ultrashorts?

Blame the Arkham games. Ever since then, her character design's been laser-targeted at the Hot Topic crowd.

I think/hope it'll pass eventually. "Trendy" redesigns get dated pretty quickly, and her original look is timeless.

Arkham Asylum: 2009
New 52: 2011
Arkham City: 2011

Honestly, I think the New 52 is much more to blame than the Arkham games. Joker changes his wardrobe on occasion for the situation, it only makes sense Harley would, too.

When Joker is sporting Cheeky Boyshorts that'll be an equal comparison.

I was referring to the "Naughty Nurse" and "Biker" outfits, thank you very much.

I make, nor wish to make, no attempt to defend the New 52 HQ outfit which sadly carried over to Suicide Squad.

I'm not familiar with either of those, and very nearly considered going to google to seek them out,...and then I remembered what I might find out there and decided against it.

How scared should I be?
And was that the right decision?

If you've already seen the New 52 design, which you have, than you have nothing to lose; it's all uphill from there. If there's a new low to Harley's outfit, I don't know about it.

Oh, and what you said about Joker in cheeky shorts... well, Suicide Squad HAS had a lot of bare-chested Joker so far.

The first New 52 design is as low as it gets. The later roller-derby-esque outfit is definitely an improvement, but... c'mon, pants. Even Arkham City got that right, and that was a game that had its female characters called "bitch" about 78,000 times each.

I dunno. Her name is Harley Quinn, it's right there, and they've been actively making her look less like a Harlequin character for half a decade. Not the first or last time a corporation has completely missed the point while chasing "trendy", though.

Slutty Harley goes against the entire original vision for the character. She was like a Looney Tunes character, that's what Paul Dini made her as in B:TAS.

She was supposed to be silly and crazy, not slutty and crazy. There's a difference.

Gotta get those teen boys into the theater somehow.

Hey, while we're talking about how Harley Quinn has been derailed as a character of late... anyone remember that New 52 story where Harley became a mass child-murderer?

Nothing gets worse than that.

Someone's never read "Mad Love."

Totally doesn't make sense for an insane person to kill children.

This is what Harley is supposed to be:

Its such a shame the comics perverted the true version of the character from the cartoons.

Harley from what I gather is supposed to be a bit of a foil to the Joker, in that she still retains some shred of human decency in her. Just see how she turns out in the end of the 'Return of the Joker' film.

"Insane" doesn't automatically equal "serial child-killer". Harley has almost always been written as tragic and potentially redeemable to some degree.
