Overall, it is. I had a really important discussion there and I think the pieces for my treatment are all starting to fall into place. And it's about damn time, I've been wanting this for years.

Glad to hear, Net. Hope it all moves forward for you pretty quickly from this point.

Grind... Oh joy, I think someone gave me their cold virus. Whoever did, I kinda hate you. (And thanks for the potential lost pay if I have to call out of work tomorrow or longer.) I made it this far, perfectly well all stinking winter, made it through the holidays just fine (which is a miracle given the job), and now in late Feb. something finally catches up to me? Really thought maybe I'd get through the whole winter with nothing, I don't normally even get sick this late in the season.

Don't want to have to call out tomorrow, but the number of times certain people have and left me to deal with it on my own and the store is supposedly having a visit (regional? corporate?) tomorrow, I'd rather not be ran ragged over it while not feeling well.

I know how ya feel, dude. I came down with a really bad cold last Wednesday and had to leave work early. Then Friday I was feeling even worse, so I called out sick. Fortunately, I only work 3 days a week, so I only lost about half my weekly pay, though as you said, it kinda bites when you don't get to make as much money.

A thanks to xenophobia and the government of Norway's odd handling of refugees. We've gotten Neo-Nazis playing vigilantes calling themselves "Odin's Soldiers" dressed in dark hoodies patrolling the streets.

Better yet... Islamist groups retaliate by forming "Allah's Soldiers" wearing dark hoodies with the ISIS flag on, saying they are gonna patrol the street protecting people from evil.

Nazis and Islamists playing vigilantes, what could for wrong.

Holy crap. That's... somewhere, journalists are writing inevitable headlines ahead of time.

Yeah, so far so good it hasn't really progressed into anything worse. Was able to deal with work yesterday and have off today thankfully. I haven't been a mess of sneezing or coughing or anything like that (surprisingly), so hopefully my being at work the last two days wasn't much of a risk to others.

Hoping it will actually stay mild, but I've had one before that was slow to progress for some days before knocking me on my butt. Hope it is not that sort. Suppose I should know by tomorrow. Luckily I'm not due in until 11am, so there will be time to call out if need be.

Edit: *sigh* And it's worsening as the day goes on. Well if I have to miss tomorrow and Saturday... given that certain people have called out every now and again, leaving me with more than my fair share and I've always been dependable to work my ass off - oh well. Their turn.

o.O

*sigh* Must we be such a terrible species. Too frequently I somewhat regret having to have been born one.

Can we just gather up all these sorts of people worldwide, stick them on an island or something somewhere together and let them annihilate each other - at their own free will of course if it comes to that... Then the rest of the world can just move on.

So, I just listened to a song titled "7 Years".

Spoiler:
The song was chilling, honestly. Maybe it was because of the mid to low tempo, or the depressing lyrics, but I thought the melody was unnerving.

Okay, so toaster ovens are not good for tiny, one-person pies. Check.

Middle was only lukewarm while the outer ring of the crust was already burnt. >.> At least after a couple minutes in the microwave most of it was still edible.

This one is petty... A guy at work has been closing the blinds mid-afternoon, because he says the sun is glairing off his monitor. OK, makes sense - but I knew, just based on who this guy is that there would be escalation, and I was right.

He has been shutting them earlier and earlier, to the point that he just got in this morning, and closed them immediately. So it's touchy, and I if the sun is glairing off the monitor, something needs to be done about it, but as far as I can tell it isn’t. Not until later in the day at least. I think he’s trying to exert some kind of power over the office environment.

This office was designed to utilise natural light. It's a five-star energy rated building, which means that the interior lighting is not very bright, so with the blinds closed, it's dank in here, and I hate it.

Ugh, triggering songs. Those're a hell all their own.
Especially when it's something upbeat and innocuous.

I can't listen to It Ain't Me without triggering my 'Nam flashbacks.

That's rough, buddy.
At least that's a cool song. Mine's from Katy Perry.
And trust me, if there's ever an artist you wish didn't trigger your PTSD from domestic abuse, it's Katy Perry.

Outcast's Hey Ya! recalls a rather unpleasant afternoon I'd rather forget - but I have resolved to deal with the memory, as there is not much I can do about the song.

*thwaps with rolled newspaper*

Kinda figured since I'm not sure we have too many fans around here that are 60s+.

Only one that has bothered me in recent months is that Carrie Underwood song “See You Again,” which I'd hear playing as part of the loop of music at work. I'd started working there just before my dad was finally diagnosed. Knowing the condition was fatal and not knowing how long he really had, yet knowing that end was coming at some point, made that song rather hard to have to listen to and keep it together in front of others. Yeah, deal with coworkers and customers with a straight face and dry eyes when there's a song playing overhead that makes sure to remind you that your parent could die soon... fun. Certainly a test of self control.

After he'd passed less than a month later and I returned after a week of absence, I was grateful that it had been replaced by Christmas music. That song is back, though it's more sad now rather than painful, I don't mind it quite as much.

Speaking of sad situations- yesterday, my hubby came home from his dialysis treatment crying. One of the guys he had become friends with there (another patient) had died the day before, and he found out when he went in yesterday. He's the third patient in the past two months to die there. He was friends with all of them, and this last one hit him hard. What's worse, the guy had just invented a new kind of cell-phone protector that keeps one from butt-dialing, but he never got to see it produced. Not sure what will happen with that now, unless the royalties go to his wife. But he was one of the guys that everyone liked, was funny and out-going. So my mate is pretty down right now, even broke down and cried again last night when looking at the obit write-up on his friend.

Thanks. Message passed along. It's kind of got him down today, because he feels like everyone he gets close to there dies. Most of them are much older, so it's not really surprising, but it's still hard for him to go in and find out that some one he talked to just a couple of days before is now gone forever.
