That issue's great--really great art from Lawson and it actually benefits from Laird's languid, sprawling writing. It gets a bad rap. It's quite effectively disturbing.

Anyway, volume 3 handles its character-writing better, but volume 4's the more ambitious product overall, and a little more in-tune with the rest of the Mirage universe.

Also, like, go back and read the first few issues of Volume 4. Laird's wordy dialogue aside, they feel really good, if you know what kind of storytelling the Mirage universe goes for. Laird severely needed Lawson to step in on script duties (just the actual dialogue-writing) though.

i'm not surprised the Image run has more votes, but i figured it'd be a much larger spread?

Volume four is a great story. It's biggest hurdle is not being finished and some parts being very drawn out... in a modern comics kind of way.

Yeah. I really hope at some point Peter squeaks out a desire to at least write down where he wants things to go and passes it off to Jim & Steve to finish up.

I've been hoping for that scenario too.

I don't know, if I1m in the proper thread, but I had a question to vol 3. and 4.

What do you think: will IDW publish them in the TMNT Classics TPB series? Perhaps colored?

Are there news or rumors on this?

If the plot threads that Vol 4 started ever finished, it'd probably be the best. At least let us know where the whole Leonardo in the Battle Nexus stuff is going, hopefully somewhere other than just "meeting a still living Splinter".

OK, I think even with the non-finished plots I still like 4 a little better, since it's still just good old weird **** happening, bittersweet at best life story TMNT. But damn, finish some stuff!!

Was there a problem? There's no problem.

Well at least there weren't plans last time I checked, I guess I just sort of assumed there was a problem since it's been about a year since they finished up vol 2 and there still aren't any plans.

No mini-series with B & K planned, but we'll explore them more eventually!

Wonder what they could be. IDW wanted to and even reached out to Frank Fosco to draw up the cover what seems like eons ago. There was early concerns about, "Well, what about the characters exclusively owned by Gary Carlson and/or Erik Larsen?" but Erik Larsen and Gary Carlson were very enthusiastically saying they would give their permission if needed... so it can't be that. Maybe it's Nickelodeon who has some problem with the Image material?

I know, it shouldn't be this hard. Both IDW and Image are seemingly on board with it, so it must be Nick.

Dammit, Pimiko, your slutty BDSM-ninja costume is screwing ALL of us.

I figured at some point he'll get the itch to complete Volume 4 but with every passing year, my feeling is edging toward "Not very likely." And I don't think he'd ever pass it off to anyone to complete in his stead, notes or not.

I mean, the man hasn't even written a single entry on his TMNT blog in a year.

Never. I gave up hope on Laird a year or two ago.

It's all on YOU, Andrew.

if and when IDW gets around to reprinting the Image TMNT vol 3, i'd actually prefer it in B&W.

personally i just think it better fits the dark mood of the stories!

plus the folks doing the color classics butchered City at War!!!

Unless they wanted to add in duotones, nah. Colorize it.

Hm, maybe Nickelodeon doesn't want to pay royalties or something?
