Well, they were supposedly gonna re-release those sports themed turtles, Mikey with the skateboard & football themed Leo respectively... Though they never did, it could potentially set a precedent for more "retro" stuff. Not sure how likely it is, but yeah.

If so, Wallmart exclusivity is time based, so they will be in other stores shortly after May.
They are supposed to shipped out this week.

Great, being from the UK I don't mind ordering from amazon, so when they pop up on there I shall pick a set up. I think they look cool, and who knows if we support these, we may see Shredder and Krang.

If the figures had been scaled down a good inch or so, I would have bought them.

The 1990 movie turtles never came out here so I never got them. I wanted them but not bad enough to pay inflated scalper prices. If these come out here I would get them. I was on the fence with the first classics until B&R came out and then I took the plunge.

I really don't understand what Playmates is doing. The 1990 movie figures didn't sell well, and now we have a repaint while the Shredder and Krang are on hold. The classic and retro lines are good ideas in my opinion but they are managing them without any sense. No release dates, no publicity, figures canceled, and now, when we are not expecting anything, they give us this figures...

Nice packaging anyway.

This is really easy to understand if you look at the economics of actually producing figures. The cost of making the master steel molds for the figures is a huge portion of the total cost of producing a figure. Those molds already exist for the most part for these. (They would need to make molds for the new accessories.) So they can produce these figures for a small fraction of what it would cost to finish Shredder and Krang. More over, the Classic Collection has had almost no support from retailers outside of Toys R Us. So if they can get them back into the largest toy retailer and in a best case scenario, encourage them to support more collector focused figures, they'd be fools not to do it. It's a long shot, but if these actually sell well and get Walmart on board going forward, it could be enough to get Krang and Shredder back into production. (Again, that is a REAL LONG SHOT.)

I wish if they were going to do a proper secret of the ooze line that it would include more than just these turtle figures. It would have been so cool to get 6" figures of Tokka and Rahzar and even Super Shredder.

On the latest two posts.
I'd place a few bucks on that long shot, and hmm, maybe the wave 5 will see development of the ooze !

And a reply to the revoltech question. I get what you mean: the packaging. I really thought you meant the joints used (where that line gets its name). The packaging is a serious step in the right direction. Character Options are doing thus with their Doctor Who line and the figures ooze (connection pun used intentionally) a lot more quality with that presentation .

I'm actually excited to pick up those new Classics. While they don't capture the Henson designs, there's at least one good head sculpt for each Turtle. So, at the very least, they make very good generic Turtle figures for the shelves. I'll probably paint over the pupils and give them solid white eyes, since they don't really have that movie look. I also really appreciate the new Marvel Legends-style collector packaging and accessories. This is what I wanted out of the collector line the entire time.

I think the packaging looks a lot like the Marvel Legends line

Spoiler:

A turn in the right direction for a more adult collector oriented line. I know they don't respect the source material, but this give me hope in Playmates again...

You're right, but I'm not talking about this figures in particular, I'm trying to understand how Playmates has handled the collector lines since the beginning.
When you're making a toy line, you should be the first believer, and I think Playmates doesn't have any faith in the product. Playmates make 1, test the waters, if works then make 2, and this is not the way to go in my opinion.
You can see a lot of lines that have a full year schedule with 12 figures and release dates, this means engagement, excitement, and get the people involved waiting for the next figure. We had 10 figures in 3 years (8 turtles), just frustrating.
A lot of brands have proof that no support is needed from any retailer. Nowadays we have a lot of ways to sell your product. And all this lines are working really well, why not the turtles?
I think both classics lines are excellent ideas, but the executions is very poor.

Today I have these.

Secret of the Ooze Turtles from Playmates.
Essentially wave 4.
They boast an incredible array of extras, most notably the heads.
I know the PM classic line hasn't been everyone's cup of tea, but I like them for what they are: pretty articulate Turtles
in a decent scale for display. .
I think these look fantastic and love that they come with extra heads and accessories. It even looks like they have some paint/detail on the skin (on mikey anyway)!
I don't see myself dishing out money a second time for this set seeing as they are basically the same as the 1990 set I bought last year - just a bit better. If only I knew these were coming out I would've waited.

But maybe this will inspire me to finally repaint my set

That's still the appeal of the initial wave of Nick Turtles, for me; setting aside the fact that I didn't get around to watching the show until last year, those early figures didn't resemble their cartoon counterparts in any meaningful way, so for me they're nicely articulated Turtles with no recognizable aesthetic, totally open to my interpretation.

Wow. Saw those TMNT2 figures on Toy Ark... they're so awful it's unreal. As are all the classics IMHO.

Surely they're meant to appeal to us... the mature audience (who actually remember these films) so why not do it right?

We're not kids anymore Playmates... you can't fob us off with these half-arsed toys (sorry 'collectibles'). Put some effort in!

The secret of the ooze turtles are okay. I wish they'd give us something other than repackaged versions (especially when hey have done SO FEW figures in that line to begin with), but... I will be buying them.

See, the thing is: I own the first wave of Classics (Fred Wolf inspired), and Bebop and Rocksteady, but I passed on the 1990 movie classics. These are the movie classics but in better packaging and with new accessories and stuff... so it sweetens the pot enough for me to jump on. However, if I had already bought the 1990 classics, then I'd probably not be very happy.

What I don't like is they are apparently WalMart exclusive...

please if anyone sees these on walmart.com, please share. I know for a fact I won't be able to find them at a walmart location in my area
