If you're talking about the crew of the current cartoon then that's a maybe, if you're talking about the executives of Viacom I doubt they "really, really, really love the 80s show". It's more likely they just view TMNT as a money making asset and that (for the time being) instruct the people making new material to emulate what is (in their mind) the most successful version.
Dan Berger was pretty clear when Viacom bought the TMNT, all the conversations he was privy to their main and central interest was in all things Fred Wolf. And each and every thing I've seen spawn from their ownership of the TMNT would lead me to conclude he was absolutely right.
