He could simply just be a cyborg - so an organic being with artificial parts to enhance strength/combat abilities (like the missile launcher in his chest)

Or equally it could be that Dregg and the Vreen are androids which have artificially produced (hopefully) organic parts included into their construction.

Similar to the Terminator, Darth Vader / Grievous or the aptly named Borg.

In the case of the Borg and Vader for example, they still have to eat - despite the artificial components, in order to keep the organic parts alive.

I have to admit there's a part of me that would love for it to turn out that Dregg and the Vreen have been partly 'converted' by Overmind since we first met them (perhaps via Armaggon) but I somehow doubt it

There is no indication that Chompy gets turned into a mutant, it's just speculation and anyway we don't even know that Raph will take Chompy back to earth.

Since Raph was the first thing Chompy saw when he hatched, he likely thinks Raph is his mama.

Yeah maybe but Chompy might not able to survive earth's atmosphere. In the gifs the Turtles, April and Casey have there helmets on so the air on that planet is probably toxic for them. So they all breath different airs.

It's a planet of magma and stuff. So yeah there would be by-products such as ash, sulfur oxides, brimstone, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide chlorine, and fluorineon which would be hazardous to human health.

I'm guessing 'Toto' Chompy is effectively Tokka Jr. I wonder where he would go if he didn't return to Earth with the Turtles, April and Casey.
