Most of us knew they were going to adapt this. If they didn't, that would be wasted potential for Don Vizioso and the Fulchi Twins. That was probably the reason they made the characters in the first place. It's probably going to be the two parter or three parter of season 4. They can't fit all the conflict of a multi-comic arc into one episode.

I hope it's an arc because it would be thorough, and well thought out. I do not want 2 or 3 episodes in which things are rushed.

In this series the Foot are robots, the Purple dragon consist of 3 punks led by Hun, and the mob has just barely been introduced.
Its probably going to be the mutants vs. humans story they were talking about with the Mutanimals involved and some others. |

I don't think that this will be a story arc. Maybe it will just be an episode or two. I think this is the one episode of the gang war that the Mutanimals get involved in.
Also, the next story arc is said to be an Anti-Mutant Campaign story arc where humans are against mutants. And don't think this episode will be part of this arc. I don't know why but that's what I think. Also, Phil LaMarr said that mutating would no longer be allowed. So this episode doesn't sound something similar to a Anti-Mutant Campaign. |

Didn't Shredder say Hun controls "the asian gangs", wouldn't that imply he has more control than just over the three stooges?

I just re watched Casey Jones vs The Underworld and Shredder said that Fishface controls the South American gangs and Rocksteady controls the Russian gangs.
So I wonder if it's going to go like this. Tiger Claw, Rahzar, Baxter and the Foot Bots vs Hun, The Purple Dragons and other Asian gangs vs Fishface and the South American Gangs vs Rocksteady, Bebop and the Russian gangs vs The Italian Mafia

Sounds like one mean lineup with Shredder likely at the center of it all.

What about the humans discovering the turtles' existence? When will that happen?

We don't know if it involves the turtles, it might be the humans discovering the Mutanimals and other mutants first and then the turtles later.

I think it's partly due to a logical standpoint. I mean, why would Fishface's and Rocksteady's gangs be based in NY - and thus even take part in the conflict at all? I could see them having connections there, yes, but not really major gangs there. If anything, the South America and Russia parts seems to imply that the Foot has worldwide connections that specialize in lucrative underground stuff. You know, (G-rated) drugs, arms dealing between the Foot and the gangs etc. With Shredder - the lynchpin of the entire Foot - out of the picture in that scenario, it makes more sense for Fishface and Rocksteady to strike on their own or establish connections elsewhere, not get into a fight they're likely to lose. Secondly, that kinda feels like too many gangs for a few episodes. I know that the Space arc took 14 episodes, but that one had a few main / secondary bad guys to keep things relatively focused. This is five gangs (some of which haven't gotten a lot of screentime to boot) - and that's not including the Turtles and potentially their allies being the sixth faction. Yea, alliances between the gangs could simplify things, but it still feels like there's a risk that some of them will end up superfluous. To add to that - what sets the gangs apart from each other, really? Okay, the Foot are robots. But the rest... I'm gonna go and reference 2K3's City at War. We know the difference between the 2K3 Foot and the PD at that point. The Mafia, the new faction in that arc, is established as losing some fights to the Foot and the Turtles. But they're dangerous because a) they hire 2K3 Stockman and use his Death robot and b) in case they lose the fights, they've already set up explosives powerful enough to blow up entire buildings. While the Mafia never got much screentime after that, they proved themselves as distinct from the other two factions. In this scenario, there are, again, multiple gangs that need to be introduced and given specific traits. Yes, I think one of 2K3's weaknesses is that the PD and the mafia didn't really get enough time / weren't big threats for the most Mirage-like of the turtles. But they at least stood out from the Foot itself. It also gets much harder to give distinct features to the four non-robot gangs in just a few episodes beyond lets say national stereotypes - and stereotypes are never a good way to do that. One needs to take the time and give the arc a lot of thought in this case. And lastly, this relates to screen time. I just kinda think that the scenario could've been stronger had more time been given to Shredder's underlings. Such as reducing the Northhampton arc and establishing some sort of competition / rivalry that eventually leads to CaW once the Shredder's gone. In a organisation ruled by one / a few with unlimited power, the underlings tend to end up fighting each other for the leader's favor. A couple episodes more focusing on that would've been fun as hell - given the huge amount of underlings Nick Shredder got under him - but alas. Also, I'm gonna reference 2K3 again. They took another way to give time to Shredder's underlings - namely, that CaW arc established Karai's and Hun's mutual loathing of each other and marked Hun's desire to build up the PD to a crime empire. Consider this speech from him: Quote:
That's not to say that Nick couldn't do something similar. Have this CaW be something so earth-shattering to the Shredder's entire organization that he's pretty much forced to part ways with some of his underlings. Or establish something that leads to the Shredder's final defeat by internal distrust (whenever that comes). What I'm saying, though, is that without a lot of important groundwork the task is much more difficult for Nick to pull off. Or maybe I'm just, to quote a certain reviewer, taking things too seriously. Tl dr: I'm agreeing with Splinter the boss. It needs to be an arc that's thought out, especially when Nick's already missed some of the groundwork. Last edited by SKX31; 04-29-2016 at 11:41 PM. |
