i dont know about that. BvS set records, but the fans, and critics were extremely vocal and recent actions, like The Flash director departing, James Wan stating that Aquaman will be lighter in tone - its clear that despite the money, they know changes need to be made to make this viable in the long run.

Same here. The producers, and the cast ALL admit that the first film was a mess, and they were still finding the tone in post-production. And they have definitely made changes to rectify their mistakes. ie. Foot Clan being actual Ninjas...and yes, the argument is that they should have been Ninja the first time around, at least they are trying. Hopefully its enough to redeem this film.

Mmhmm. Takes special talent to troll like you actually mean it. Even moreso if some don't even know they're doing it.

Fans don't have a duty to like everything. (Nor act like some grateful little peasant groveling at the feet of those who made it.) If that were the case then, well, I guess some other short lived things in TMNT history would have lasted longer or inspired more of the same.

(But it's okay Turtles, by 32 everyone has a few things in the past they don't want to talk about.

What? I don't think anyone's being cynical "for the sake of it" -- we've all backed up our feelings and opinions many times over, at length. You can't really dispute that.

Besides, people are usually optimistic when they have a reason to be. And for a lot of us, Platinum Dunes hasn't given us a reason to be optimistic. How is being optimistic "for the sake of it" a better quality than being cynical with valid reasons?

C'mon, we've been through this so many times already. Being a fan doesn't mean giving the thumbs-up to literally anything with the property name attached. Being a fan means you care about the characters, about their story, about their world, and that comes part and parcel with having criticism when a particular version falls short.

Giving the thumbs-up to literally anything TMNT-related doesn't make someone a "fan", necessarily. Being a fan means you care about quality, about the story, the themes, the source material, all that stuff. If anything, blindly accepting/consuming literally anything means someone doesn't care.

To me, and to a lot of us, fandom and brand loyalty are very different things that get confused way too often. It's the difference between " I like [THING] because of [REASONS]" and "I like it because it's [THING]".

No its not. Not unconditIonally. I know it pretty much beating a dead horse at this point since its been stated so many times before all that does is send a message that they can sell you anything with the name on it with the most minimal effort possible. It's important to express criticism especially if you're a fan.

Are we ever going to see actual pics of the lair...?

I have a hard time believing the movie will give us a good enough look. Maybe a little more than last time, but doubt it will hardly show enough. I want to see their house, darn it.
