That being said, I'm still sitting here dumbfounded over how impressed I was with this movie. I'm still processing it so I'll do a full review tonight. Right now just a few things...

This is NOT an April and Casey movie featuring the turtles. In fact, they have very few scenes where there isn't a turtle or a villain present. The turtles are the stars. When they aren't on the screen, it's usually the villains who spend a lot of time together so it never felt like an overstock of characters.

Pete Ploznek is Leonardo. There's no Johnny Knoxville. Also Leo carrys a bulk of the serious scenes in the movie. Pete is excellent

The turtles are more developed, and since you spend so much more time with them, they actually get to shine in their signature traits rather than last time where things like raph being angry or Donnie being smart felt shoehorned in.

There's no Eric Sacks and not even a mention of his character.

There are some stupid jokes here and there like raph hitting the plane, turtle winking, etc. but they are pretty few and far between and they made all the little kids laugh. For the most part, the movie carrys itself as a pretty serious action/ sci fi film.

The turtles aren't running around in the open like some of the trailers made it seem.

Krang is awesome. Much more serious than the 80s show but still the same character. Tyler perry is also not as cartoony as he was in the trailer. Shredder is a badass.

The movie isn't as predictable as you might think even with all of the trailers and tv spots. There's lots of surprises. Most of the callbacks to previous turtles projects feel more natural this time. The movie is shot better. There are a few shots that actually reminded me of panels from the early comics. the music is fantastic! Not only is the score better but there's also a full soundtrack of great songs.

Basically, it felt like a ninja turtles movie. I loved the ending too
That's excellent dude glad you enjoyed yourself idk if you can say anything but on a scale from 1-10 how would you rate Krangs voice without giving anything away

Can you say if the movie has decent martial arts this time around and does it feel rushed with all the characters

Wait.

The movie was DECENT?!?!?!

I take your review seriously due to the fact that you have openly expressed dislike of the first one, but wow.

The movie focuses on the Turtles? That's... why am I so shocked that a Turtles movie focuses on the Turtles??

Can you like PM me spoilers?

Awesome! I'm glad Leo gets some good scenes. I assumed, based on the trailers that he would be the "main turtle".

Care to address any of problems we've all been bringing up in a little more detail?

1. The Turtles' exposure to NYC at large.
2. How much does the movie dwell on its idiotic "dormant animal gene" stuff.
3. The "turning human" plot.

That's good, about the music, do they incorporate the classic theme in the score?

In the previews we hear the classic theme blasting out of the Turtle Truck's horn.

Oh and I linked to your review on twitter.

The only thing I'm immediately interested that I would love to have an answer (perhaps in spoiler tags so other who don't want to know aren't spoiled) is if there some reference to Hamato Yoshi/Oroku Saki backstory. As someone who has sworn off seeing it that alone might convince me to give it a shot.

Can you talk about the length of the movie? many movie sites are reporting different run times, and we don't know what the actual one is.

It's decent. He sort of sounds like Brad Garrett but more evil and sinister. His voice never goes up high pitched but he has a lot of classic Krang nuances without being silly

The turtles fight a lot in the movie. There are no foot soldiers with guns and the turtles do more martial arts instead of just using brute force like the last movie.

It doesn't explain it but it IS the same Shredder. The movie ignores a lot of what happened in the last movie. There are some mentions but not enough to make people have to watch that movie to understand this one.

The turtles are never exposed to NYC at large. There is that one scene of Mikey at the halloween parade that you've seen in the trailer, but its brief and nobody notices. The turtles do interact with the police chief and a few officers but it makes sense in the film. The general public never sees them. The "turning human" plot is minor and really just opens the door for a better conflict between the turtles.

It is their horn which you only hear once. It's also featured at another point in the movie in a very clever way.

It doesn't dive back into the origin. It moves forward so there is no Hamato Yoshi mentioned, however, it doesn't discuss Eric Sacks or the origin from the 2014 movie either.

I don't know the exact running time but it felt like it was around two hours or a little longer. It felt longer than the last movie and allowed plenty of time for everything to happen.

Is the Shredder and Krang dynamic like the 80s cartoon? Where act like a bickering couple?
