And that part has me stuck... Even if it failed due to continued stupid choices, were that the case, I'd still want to see what could be done with these Turtles in better hands (in terms of writing and producing - their actors are fine), but I know that prob couldn't happen. I want to see more of these Turtles themselves, since they've grown on me enough, so makes me a bit sad and conflicted.

It's not bad. Not the best we could have hoped for but not the worst. It's a much better movie than the last one. You can definitely tell that Dave Green is a fan. Makes me wonder what he could have done if he had been allowed to just reboot it. The kids all seemed to like it. It definitely has its share of dumb and silly moments and some of the science stuff gets a little crazy. I don't know, it all kind of worked for me. I think they got more right than they did wrong. I enjoyed it. Not saying it's great, but I think it's decent. I would have liked to have seen a lot more Splinter but I was relieved that the didn't rehash the origin aspects from the last movie. With the exception of certain cast members returning and brief mention that the turtles defeated Shredder, it pretty much ignored the last movie. However, if you thought the last movie was a atrocious horrible abomination of mankind, you're probably not going to be jumping up and down in your seat over this. I think most reviews will be along the lines of "much better than the last" and "fun". I guess we'll find out next week when you all see it. (Those of you who do see it, anyway)

Wouldn't say doing that is really all that uncommon or unusual. I mean, if people care enough about a property then, yeah, I'm not surprised if many take issue with it if they feel it's being mistreated. Not really all that different than seeing an old friend get screwed over and, what, just shrug and walk away? In a way, it's exactly like that and people seem to be expecting unhappy people to just walk away like it's no biggie. Maybe a really casual fan who's unbothered by anything could.

I'm still just hoping this one is at least a ~~step~~ leap in the right direction, and they don't stop trying to improve if there are more.

It's coming. Don't waste your money though, Paramount will probably post the whole score on their FYC awards site near the end of the year.
