But I would have liked it.
I would've loved that, or even setting it in 1984. Really capture the seedy, dangerous New York City of that run and the Frank Miller Daredevil comics it was inspired by. That could've been something special.

Yeah I liked how they made Captain America take place in the 40s or King Kong in the 30s. They didn't try to change and modify the story to fit into present time. Maybe I'm just getting old but there are things I just miss about the 80s and 90s turtles that we'll probably never see again. Like the way Mikey talks in those movies. It felt natural because that's how skateboarders in SoCal talked back then. Hearing him shout Cowabunga in these new movies just feels shoehorned in. Especially since he's saying "yeah brah" in the same sentence. Raph putting on a trench coat and fedora and going out worked. No way he could do that now with all the cell phone cameras. Even Shredder and the foot, Hamato Yoshi etc. It worked better back then being only about 40 years after WW2. Even (and God forbid I'm bringing this up) the vanilla ice club scene for some reason worked back then even though it's dumb as hell. It would be a million times stupider today. Well, we can all dream

We already kind of got that. The 1990 movie was set in...well...1990. There's not that much difference between 1984-1990 in terms of how things looked, so I feel like the first movie already did that.

You had Danny wearing the Sony Walkman headphones and his father acting like he has no idea what a cassette player is.

Fair enough. I guess I just want that again. Maybe through a new perspective.

I actually wouldn't mind a tmnt movie that was pretty faithful to the original cartoon. I do love the look and feel of that series.
The new movie seems to think it's influenced by the ot, but so far I don't really see it.

The movie comes out over here in The Netherlands on June 16th.

All the international posters have '3D and 2D' listed on the bottom except for the Dutch version.
It was the same with the 2014 movie.

Am I the only one who prefers 2D over 3D?

2D for life 3D is just a gimmick hell you're just gonna recycle or throw away the glasses anyway

I prefer 3D, cause the movies are a lot more immersive for me.

I never really cared for 3D effects, I actually got 2D glasses, these let you watch a 3D movie in 2D, but it's just not the same.

Anyway, it is strange that the movie will not get a 2D release over here.
Most other recent movies did (Batman v Superman, Captain America Civil War, X-Men Apocalypse, etc.).

They must really see it as a kids only movie, it's a miracle that it's not dubbed in Dutch!

I don't watch 3D that much now as they do give me headaches. If TMNT 2 is on in 4DX I will go see it.

And Brian Tyler's complete score showed up after the film came out, not before. Maybe the OST came out earlier, I don't care about Brian Tyler enough to know.

Nope, I get headaches most of the time depending on where I'm sitting. Sometimes you just wanna watch the damn movie without all the 3D.

3D is typically terrible unless the movie is shot with 3D cameras and with a competent director. Prometheus was shot with 3D cameras and looked amazing. DOFP was shot with 3D cameras but Bryan Singer can't frame a shot to save his life so it looked like poor post-converted 3D. There are a handful of films not filmed in 3D that work (Gravity for example) but those are rare.

I can only imagine how cheap the 3D conversion on these PD TMNT movies looks.
