The voice cast in the OT credits

Anyone annoyed that a lot of 1980s cartoons don't show you who voiced who? Sure they give us a list of voice actors in the credits, but they don't go into details. What's up with that?

I would like to know who voiced Captain Krulik and Howie Hardy. According to some websites, Rob Paulsen voiced Howie Hardy, but how accurate is their information? I'm good at picking out Rob in cartoons, and Howie does not sound anything like Rob, even with the Woody Allen impression.

Yeah...it's frustrating. I think you're right about Howie...if I'm remembering who he is correctly. Is he the annoying singer?

Yeah. I don't get why he exist. I get the Woody Allen appearance and voice, but not the singing part. I cringe everytime he sings.

Yeah.

In early days of animation, they either wouldn't credit the voice actors at all, or only credit one or two ([joking]thanks a lot, Mel Blanc[joking]). So, it's like the industry got better at crediting voice actors over time.

In any case, I'd like to know the OT voice of Mondo Gecko, among others.

That was the thing that always mystified me about the turn the franchise took when Eastman and Laird licensed the cartoon and the parallel comic book published by the same outfit that gave us Archie. The turtles' original origin story? The whole thing hinges on a for-Christ's-sake rape-murder!!!!
from here.

According to Behind The Voices, John Mariano voiced Gecko in his two appearances in the 1987 cartoon.

Never noticed that. Then again I've never really paid much attention to the names listed in the credits.

I wonder if it's because the USA does not value VAs as much as Japan does. I mean, sure you have shows like The Simpsons where the same VA voices a character for like two decades, but most cartoon series don't last for that long. In Japan, a VA change does not happen in a series unless said VA dies. Plus VAs release character songs often, etc.

I guess he doesn't qualify as African American to cubed because he doesn't say things like "yessa massa", "sup dawg", "yo", "kill whitey" and "shee-it negro!"
