Why do people get all pissy with RottenTomatoes? All they do is collect what OTHERS have said, and form a percentage based on the ratings of OTHERS.

And do RT ratings really matter? Do people really base whether they'll see a movie on a rating instead of, say, the trailers? Or what family and friends say?

You'd be surprise. Whenever I'm at Box Office or even the Concession Stands, they ask us if the movie is good because they look at Rotten Tomatoes. It's clear that they don't know how the site works.

Yeah, I never go by what RT says, The site is only useful for seeing what the critics think, very often you will see the user ratings having a higher percentage then the critics rating.

I'm seeing this tonight. If I have any energy left in me after the show(as I'm running on 2 hours of sleep) I'll post some quick spoiler-free thoughts later.

And it's not even a measure of How Good or How Bad a movie is, just whether or not the overall tone of the critique was positive or negative.

These DCFanboys need to go out and touch some grass.

Paid reviews are paid reviews regardless of what site is hosting them. Movie criticism is a f*cking joke anyways. Unless you're a wordsmith like Armond White, you shouldn't act like you're the authority on what people should like or not. Me? I'm my own rotten tomatoes.

According to an industry insider cited by The Hollywood Reporter, Suicide Squad has "got to do $750 million, $800 million to break even. If they get anywhere close to that, they'll consider it a win."

The David Ayer-directed film reportedly cost $175 million to produce (including roughly $10 million on reshoots) and over $100 million more to market. It's currently tracking to open this weekend between $125 million and $140 million, the latter of which would make it an even bigger North American debut than Deadpool ($132.4 million).
Suicide Squad needs to make $750 million just to break even. What the hell?

My friend informed me on the whole thing on the "shutdown Rotten Tomatoes" nonsense just yesterday; I'm aware it was previously discussed but here's what I told him (these are my general thoughts on the issue, not the movie itself; put in spoilers in case of length):

Spoiler:
Quote:
Let me be clear, I'm no DC expert compared to Marvel, but based on the previous DCEU installments, I feel studio interference and lack of faith in production sans Batman is hurting the films. It's not doing an entirely respectable job with its properties just to make a shared universe, like many other companies in recent months, even years to compete with Marvel, causing setbacks somewhat and ruining what made particular franchises great. Additionally, David Ayer's statement of "F Marvel!" at the premiere seems to imply frustration with what's transpired. I mean, why Suicide Squad, which to my knowledge is primarily dramatic with villains joining forces is now suddenly receiving a brightened treatment is beyond me.

Regardless of the critical consensus, it'll still bring in quite an audience because of Harley Quinn's popularity and actors such as Will Smith. If studio interference continues, I'm unsure if these movies will succeed unless someone approaches and says 'Let's try (insert something people want here)'.

I'll give the movie a watch at some point, but messing with the creator's original intention should only be if they are taking things to the extreme. Otherwise, you can get crap from messing about or not controlling if they're somewhat difficult to work with. Either way, I'm hesitant with these movies currently as the previous two are not my cup of tea.

This is why CBM's will disappear. too expensive, too much risk.

It's no longer a good idea.

Or at least DC movies. They'll probably just go back to making Batman solo movies like in the 90's and 2000's and forget about everything else. Bar the odd Superman movie here and there.

Because online petitions rarely result in anything and are a shallow form of demanding action.
