I agree that this place has a bad reputation elsewhere on the web, and that's why we don't have many new folks, but...old timers have left because of the influx of s#itposting too.

I dunno, I feel like most of us here do pretty well with putting up with each other's crap...

Nah. This place is small and unknown compared to most forums, which is due to it's niche subiect, nothing to do with it's rep. TMNT just doesn't have that big of a fanbase. The only times I've seen it mentioned was on /co/ where someone sh*t-talked the place and dissed some of the members. Cybercubed is the most famous thing we have.

Like I said before, /co/ has occassional TMNT threads and this place isn't look upon fondly there.

When I met Ciro at NYCC, I mentioned the forums and he rolled his eyes with a smile and said "Oh that place". He also confirmed Armaggon to me a year before it happened (posted it here too). Super cool dude.

I legit enjoy the forums. I look forward to checking out what's new daily.

All kinds of stuff. Blogs, forums, fic stops, rpgs, art communities.
On more than one occasion I've had folks there voice displeasure at this place.

We all know that for the most part this place only has a bad rep with casuals, & that's because they come here, act stupidly, then get mad & quit when they're corrected or asked to do something properly. We care about board quality, whereas most people are happy to just let this place go the way of most crappy forums, with oodles of duplicate threads, asking questions they could simply Google, requesting pirated material, pimping their website, etc. & who else does that leave? The DA/Tumblr crowd who wanna promote shipping/turtlecest/etc. They can't do that here, so they have no desire to come.

We're lucky to have a community that is so discussion focused. Screw the reputation.

Plenty of people have joined, taken note of the atmosphere, & integrated. It's not that hard. Just show that you're here to talk turtles & you'll be doing just that.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems the only major bee in Spike's bonnet is threads turning into socio-political crap-fests in the general section of the forum, which is a more recent issue that I don't think has any part in influencing how this site was viewed in years past. So I'd say my statement is valid...

But I do agree that "going there" happens too easily & too often as of late, to get back on track.
