I concur. I felt like it was just letting us know it is there and nothing was really done with it or even referenced. An arc with the TMNT and others involved in TMNT Universe after a year of the title would be grand!*hint *hint*

You ever play around the with idea of the turtles doing drugs? They're teenagers doing teenager things. Puffin a blunt wouldn't be that far fetched.

Technically been done in Mirage and the adults only Archie gag comic.

And the opposite done in Cartoon All-Stars to the Rescue.

And probably the greatest - but most obscure - opposite

I don't know what kind of wormhole that PSA went into, but it's wonderful.

Like was said earlier, drugs might have been in Mirage from time to time, with some characters being absolutely no stranger to them - mostly looking at Professor Obligado, he who was so acclimated to them he was able to break off the deadly menta-wave helmets. Séancing Timothy Leary's ghost just to drop acid with him levels of acclimation.

But they have absolutely no place in IDW, especially with the style and structure of the writing.

The Turtles also drink beer as early as Mirage issue #2-3 when they were only 15 years old in canon at the time. But then again the Mirage TMNT never really acted like real teenagers. But yeah that stuff has no place in IDW and I'm sure Viacom/Nick doesn't want it either.

About TMNT Universe #5 since its just a one-shot issue about Leatherhead/Hob will it also have a back-up story similar to issues 1-4? And will it be the same one about Leonardo or a unique 4-5 page back-up story? I only ask because at only 5 pages its hard to imagine a back-up for a single issue as anything more than a potential short gag comic.

I don't see how those themes should automatically be discounted as not appropriate for this series. IDW's TMNT license may be controlled by Nick but it is not run in the same way nor geared for the same audience as the TMNT Nick cartoon. Experimentation with consciousness is an integral part of most cultures, especially during the coming-of-age process.

I was aware of it only because I was asked to locate Brian Lynch's work-for-hire contract to affirm ownership of the character. I saw the first images of her over the weekend like everyone else, and have no clue what they'll be doing with her.
