Wow, I'm shocked at how much I like those designs compared to the blurry leak. They look beautifully stylized and the only downside for me are April's glasses. Her fake design looked a lot better.

I like them overall. The only two things I could do without are the excessive spikiness on Raph and Donnie's Jimmy Neutron head. Otherwise I like the new designs.

I think the designs are fine, but I can see some of the mix reaction is due to the fact all 4 Turtles are different breeds now. Therefore they are no longer related by blood.

Looks like this reboot is doing away with the Brother dynamic that has been in previous incarnations.

It technically doesn't change anything. They're brothers in the same way that Splinter is their father.

Well, the TMNT had a good run between the 2003 and 2012 series. But now they will only exist in the IDW comics for me, as long as they keep going the tried and true route they have been going.

As with my loss of interest in the X-Men once Marvel very foolishly took away their iconic uniforms, the looks of these turtles does absolutely nothing to interest me. And I simply can not enjoy anything like a comic or show if I hate what I am looking at. Rise looks like a Hellspawn of Next Mutation and Fast Forward, but for even younger kids. I hate when something superior is replaced with something clearly inferior only for the sake of pleasing people who have a merciless, undying thirst for constant "change". For whatever reason, I was not instilled with that thirst the same way others were. I much prefer sticking with what I know works for however long it is willing to exist.

He will have these attachments to protect his shell. So he won't be the weakest turtle.

I was thinking the same thing.
I don't know that I've ever dropped something I liked because of an aesthetic change. I've not picked things up, or actively avoided something, because of how it looked, but never during.

Then again, I have stopped watching/reading a story when one of the narrative elements changed in a way I didn't like...and that's not really all that different if you squint.

The uniforms I am talking about were the late 80s and early 90s looks. That is when the X-Men were at their peak. Once those were taken away, nothing else concerning the X-Men has come close to making me want to pick up a new issue and have a desire to read about them. The whole reason I bought my very first X-Men comic ("X-Men" #1 in 1991) was because the looks and awe-inspiring uniforms totally gained my full interest. Ever since, they have looked bland, unspectacular and very forgettable.

Okay... so, visually speaking, not loving it, but not quite hating it either. Agree on many of the comments that have been made.

Always thought putting the red markings on them would be cute, but just as short streaks across the temples behind the eyes, that the masks hide most of the time. Like this though... eh... not so much.

WTF happened to Splinter. It reminds me of something else I've seen, but I can't place it. The back if my mind keeps suggesting something from Ren and Stimpy, but not sure.

April... She's okay. A little bland next to not-April to be honest. Agree she looks like Irma was mixed in. But maybe Casey too? Given the bat and all.

But is she RIDING Donnie in that one pic...? Like driving him as some kind of hovercraft. Uh, okay, weird...

Still really not liking their big plan to go and change Leo like this. If Cubed has been right, fine, that's doable, but it was still unnecessary for Raph to be the oldest. And it sounds like they want to make Leo a cocky ass which I quite hate.

Though I have to question... If Leo isn't the leader so he has to EARN it this time (fine... no harm there), then how did Raph earn it...?

Sounds like Donnie's personality could be altered as well which kinda sucks.

Not really brothers... Sad. And agree, no way some kid had all of those. What common pet shop is even going to sell a ~~paper~~ (edit: yeah a paper one would be okay) baby snapper. (And not so sure soft shells can be bought either?)

Little envious I had to miss out on the reveal, and I guess a first image or two after I went to bed last night. Got home from eye appointment right at 1pm as I predicted and had to miss it... (Still blocking out bright parts of the screen...) But at least I can count on you guys to share and recap stuff.

Yeah I'm sorry, they changed too much. Much of it is different for the sake of being different, or to appeal to a younger audience. The art style is silly, in the vein of Teen Titans Go. Rather cheap looking. And the designs are overall awful.

Guess this will be another Turtle dark age I'll have to ride out.
