So, I don't post here much but I'm sensing a right wing tone from this thread more so than left. These opinions are fine, but it's worth me adding my two cents that as someone who just binged the entire series in Prep for next month...some of the comments here are a little silly. No, Sophie isn't as good as Eastman, but you'd think from reading here that she was writing the worst TMNT thing ever created. With respect, come on guys. Not everyone dislikes TMNT as it is now. Personally? I like the more laid back stories. However, recently things have picked up again and I think the Armageddon Game should be pretty fun, myself.

Edit: WOW, I didn't think I had only only post. I've been using this forum since the 2003 series sparingly. Thought I rejoined under this name sooner. Sorry about how awkward this looks. ^^: I wonder what my old login was?

Again, im not trying to attack anybody for disliking it. Just trying to offer a different perspective.

I never saw comics as a right wing or left wing thing. There's just good stories and bad stories. We want good stories and TMNT stories that resemble actual TMNT stories.

Why is it anytime someone wants to exercise common sense it's referred to as 'right wing'?

So I guess now that the comics are heading into the Armaggon War, it's becoming right wing now?

That's not what he meant at all. This entire thread has just another exorcise of people bitching that 'woke+lgbtq=bad' which is a very right-wing mindset.

True not everyone on here who dislikes the current run has said things to that effect but it's become far too common for a lot of them to fall back on that very dated stereotype.

It was just my assessment of the general positions of most in the thread, given the terminologies some have used. I don't mean to attack you personally or your opinion on the comic.

For at least some of us it's NOT the concepts, it's the abysmal execution.

The entire last two years is like an experiment in "How can we take ideas that might sound intriguing on paper and then do the Worst Possible Version of those ideas?"

I just feel there's better ways to include characters of different races and orientations without it being at the expense of the story. They need to stop catering to the virtue signalers that wouldn't be caught dead in a comic book shop let alone actually buy the things.

Look at Sailor Moon. Hakura and Michiru were in love with each other, but that wasn't what they were all about. They had their mission to fulfill, a mission that they feel the regular Sailor Soldiers should butt out from. Them being gay had nothing to do with the friction between them and the others, or the fact that they were trying to save the world. THAT'S how you do it. And that's an old series.

Anime handles these matters way better because unless the story is about yaoi/yuri (where in that case it makes sense to have the story be all about gay) the gay characters interact as actual people, actual characters with personalities and such and work within the story without making it all about them.

Anime also knows how to make actual new series and new characters like the current Jujutsu Kaisen. They don't backtrack like Marvel and DC and make established characters like Tim Drake gay just because they're out of ideas.

I got nothing against gay characters in my stories. Just, you know, make them good characters and make them good stories. And also make new characters. Don't turn pre-established ones into gay characters for the sake of it.
