The U.S. printed versions of #24 and #25 have been sold out for literally years at this point. Though it does appear that Arseniy/DemonAlukard is reprinting them and distributing them all on his end from Russia, even now. Some kind of non-U.S. third printing of #24 and second printing of #25, I guess you could call it. I have nothing to do with it.

I'm kinda debating whether or not to get one. On one hand I always found it rather silly to rewrite such a classic issue simply because the original version can't be re-published due to the appearance of a character they didn't have the rights to. It'd be like if Crispin Glover demanded they cease releasing the original version of the Back to the Future trilogy and just reshoot his scenes with a different actor.

It's more like if Marvel were to one day lose the film rights to Spider-Man back to Sony, and then they went and re-shot Civil War so he never appears and they could release it again

Honestly this story seems to also happen, not happen as a replacement, if I am remembering it correctly.

I was in Barcelona, bought it on eBay and asked the seller if by any chance he was in Barcelona too.
He happened to be a professional book seller in this very city and I met him on a book market to directly buy the book from him.
We had a nice chat to put the lid on it and he was rather surprised to hear about this mystery TMNT story

Is this book that rare?
I cannot say I was actively looking for it before that...

I hope you find it too.

Congrats man! I almost pulled the trigger on that one but the shipping was way too high. In the end though, probably would have been a good deal. Glad you got it.

And it's fairly rare here in the States. I've found it from time to time here in the SW United States (AZ, NM, CO, UT) but it's always either too expensive or in the worst shape and STILL expensive for its condition (staples in covers, missing front and/or back covers, library copies). I found a nearly complete set of these once in really great shape but...was missing No. 2.

I'll keep searching when I'm back in Spain.

Regarding the book, only when the seller gave it to me did I realize it is that small in size (like a big digest).
Arseniy did magic when he scanned these pages to print them in classic comic-book size.

The book go to the printer in two days (along with upcoming British Hero Turtles Complete Fleetway Collection Book 1 and Dream Studios' TMNT: Dark Legacy #1).

This is a non-profit crowdfunded book, from fans to fans, with a very small print run.
We using raised money to pay artists for their work and for the next TMNT comics project!

So this story was included in IDW’s “Best of Renet” comic from last month. Is there any major difference between their printing and this? Seems like they didn’t include the front piece.

This story was not originally part of Tales, so it did not have a frontispiece. We created the cover and frontispiece for the first edition ourselves, and Jim Lawson created them for the latest edition.

In our case, we translated from Spanish, while IDW found the original lettering and script. Therefore, the dialogues have been slightly rephrased (although the meaning is completely the same).

What IDW did not publish is the last page of the story, which was also not included in the Spanish edition. However, the page was found in the source files and has been written/added by us to the issue.

In addition, our edition has been completely relettered, and in my opinion, it looks much neater than the original.

P.S. And by the way, we are offering this issue as free bonus with preorders of all three new Turtles Club releases (Unfinished Business, The Shredder, TMNTA #80) until the end of August!

Seemed strange that there wasn’t any kind of blurb in the IDW book about the obscure origin of the story. It’s just in there like any other old story.
