Really hard to follow up Melissa Benoist, man. I know it was only a T.V. series, but honestly she was iconic in the role.

I'm sure she was. I'll never know. I lasted like 2 episodes into her Supergirl show and I just couldn't continue. And I was able to suffer through MOST of The Flash and Arrow's final horrible seasons.

My only critique on Benoist was that she seemed a little too mature for the role. I think Supergirl needs to be a bit more spritely.

I stopped watching literally at the episode where that gorgeous military chick had some dialog resembling "I don't want to spend my life working for angry old white men".

It was around the peak of the "be racist towards white males" movement of the last ten years.

Spoiler:

Not too bad. Looks like they gave her some kind of leggings, though... but that may or may not be because she's in a cold environment there.

Hoooo boy... after trying to make the Superman movie and Peacemaker like Guardians of the Galaxy...

https://cosmicbook.news/supergirl-li...YZcCmkY-aKFL0A

... now Gunn is actually saying Supergirl will be like Guardians of the Galaxy.

I wonder if DC will allow James Gunn to show her sleeping around with a lot of alien guys. Usually they don't like portraying female heroines like this but James Gunn could get away with it. They allowed that fully nude orgy scene in Peacemaker when that looked like something straight out of The Boys series instead. I don't expect nudity but they could show her gangbanging multiple guys on some alien planet.

That actress is so unattractive that I'm not sure why you'd want to see that in the first place....

Guys... she's not bad at all*. Just watch her in like the first couple House of the Dragon episodes and see if you feel the same.

* I say this, before seeing her spout James Gunn dialogue and being a girl boss for 2 hours will have a good shot at changing my mind.

Oof... "whatever" instead of "the American Way," now? I'm sure that won't piss off anybody.

Who is it going to piss off? Boomers?
When was the last time that was even part of the motto? I remember in the 90s they were already making fun of it and parodying by taking out the American Way part. the 90s, that was 3 decades ago.
I mean it's clear the marketing is going for" This is an edgy Supergirl
If anything it's a bit cringe that they still think removing the american way is edgy but it's clearly still triggering boomers like you so I guess it's working

Over half the country, dork.

Like I said with Gunn's Superman when Gunn said Superman would instead be saying "truth, justice and a better tomorrow" instead (before he had the good sense to cut that out, I guess? I don't remember actually hearing it in the movie)... better to just avoid it altogether.

they haven't used it in cartoons or movies since I was born so at least foe 3 decades. It's always been parodied or changed in superman shows/movies for as long as I've been alive. Probably the Superfriends show might have still used it but that's like a 70s show.

I know, I get it, but to even kiiinda trot it out and not actually do the last part ("... the American way") is rightfully going to piss off a huge part of a whole country who Superman is supposed to be an icon for.

But this isn't Superman, this is drunken Supergirl with sunglasses.
