I think later on, Mondo's reticence to talk about it is kind of playing on the joke of his not having had the "spirit" visual, and misinterpreting the story.

Incidentally, there are similar vagaries employed for Leo and Radical in Mirage, although they absolutely went at it.

Worst-case scenario, the tale is in pretty safe company with a whole host of real-world myths of gods taking the form of animals and getting freaky with human women (Zeus, etc.), but I really don't think that's what happened.

idk... you gotta look between the lines there. Sure, they begin with the ethereal high five, but then "their spirits came to know love" (then time lapse) and then "through that love... came I."

If they weren't physically doing anything, they were definitely doing "love" in the spirit plane at the very least.

I just read Mutanimals #2 and thought of this thread. I would choose to believe they didn’t have sex.

“Through that love… came I”. Ok, but we never see that she was pregnant or have any evidence that she gave vaginal birth to Jagwar. The Jaguar spirit might have just granted her with a baby to raise. Nothing says he didn’t just materialize, so it’s a possibility.

Yeah, I prefer to think of this as Zeus fathering Perseus in the form of rain or something along those lines than literally them having sex.

One more thing: in the Mutanimals ongoing, he can’t do anything to help Juntarra since he’s just a spirit, not a corporeal being. He can only guide Jagwar.
